Shamwari Family Riverdene Lodge is a 'home away from home' which nestles in the private and internationally recognized Shamwari Private Game Reserve of the Eastern Cape. The malaria-free game reserve boasts an incredible eco-system that offers sanctuary to an abundance of wildlife including the famous Big Five. Shamwari Family Riverdene Lodge is designed to offer a relaxed space for families to bond and enjoy the outdoors.

Each of the nine beautifully decorated inter-leading Luxury Suites feature an en-suite bathroom with bathtub and shower, air conditioning, lounge area with satellite television, minibar, tea & coffee making facilities, microwave, hairdryer, in-room safe, and a private patio that leads onto the landscaped gardens.

The lodge facilities include a lounge area, a bar with fireplace, dining room, outdoor seating area, swimming pool, and a play center for the kids.

Shamwari Private Game Reserve is a successful conservation story with a thriving wildlife population. The game reserve is home to lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, buffalo, cheetah, caracal, brown hyena, hippo, zebra, wildebeest, and other antelope species. Shamwari is also a bird lovers paradise with 250 species recorded.

Activities offered at the lodge include dawn and dusk open-vehicle game drives, guided bush walks, bird watching and visits to the Shamwari Rehabilitation Centre and education centers.  

The Kids on Safari Adventure Centre keeps kids busy for hours with a wide selection of indoor and outdoor activities available throughout their stay. The Adventure Centre boasts climbing towers, elevated walkways, zip lines, a toddlers’ play area, maze, and a mini soccer field. The Kids Adventure Centre is always supervised by a kids coordinator. Childminding is available at an additional cost for families traveling with kids under 4 years of age as they are not permitted on game drives.
