Accommodation first class, saw elephant and wart hogs from our veranda. Did 2 game drives, one in our own vehicle and one with a ranger. We also saw 6 of the 8 lions, hundreds of elephants at a watering hole as well as a herd of Cape Buffalo, many antelope, meerkats, and bird life.

WE really had a GREAT visit to Addo, our sixth. The highlight was trailing a lioness for about 3 k's on the Harvey Loop and see her go into a stalking mode. We thought here is our first kill in 50 years of game viewing! After about a minute, the Warthog realised the danger and went into F1 mode. Next we had a Caracal all to ourselves and the last day we saw a Secretary bird lunching on a Scrub hare. Due to the amount of rain the Ellies stayed in the bush, so not a troop sighting, but what an exciting Addo visit again. Cant wait for Kgalagadi in December!

My wife and I have been visiting Addo for the last ten years and have seen vast improvements. Our experience this year was the best we've had. The staff, without exception were courteous and helpful. We had an issue with the shower which was sorted promptly. A meal at the camp restaurant was very good, the service excellent. An early morning game drive was most rewarding, our guide CK was knowledgable and informative. His off-road route was timed perfectly to see a pair of male lions pass within a metre of the front of our vehicle. The lady on the park gate prompt and pleasent. We have purchased a wild card for further game viewing days in the park.

We have been overseas visitors to Addo for the last ten years and it just get's better. There have been issues on previous visits but our experience this year was excellent. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, our complaint about the faulty shower was quickly rectified, our meal in the restaurant was good and all staff were pleasant and helpful. We had an early morning game drive, our guide CK was pleasent, knowledgable and informative. He took us off-road perfectly timed to witness a pair of male lions cross a metre in front of the vehicle. My wife and I have purchased a wild card so can now access the parks on a greater number of occasions.

The forest cabin was a bit small for three people, but otherwise everything was fine. Our stay in the park was exciting, we saw many different animals, especially many elephant. The park is certainly one of the highlights in South Africa if one looks for nature and animals. Some of the ways could be better marked, we lost our way several times and the map we received at the reception was a copy from a copy and therefore not very good.

Addo chalet provided good quality accommodation. Only down side was that it rained very heavily earlier the day we arrived, so the entire stoep was water logged. At least there was a broom to sweep it away before we could get to the door.

We visited Addo Restcamp for 9 days and stayed over in the caravan park. The camping sites are private and clean. We loved our site which had plenty of shade! Dust bins and fireplaces are emptied each morning which was great! I would however suggest that the ablutions be upgraded soon! We where however shocked to see the swimming pool in such a state. We really looked forward to our 1st swim after a long drive through the resort but needless to say we did not swim because the pool area looked terrible. If a small shop ,music, green cut grass, a few tables and chairs, lilo's, clean blue water in the pool could be added to the picture (and maybe just maybe heated) then ALL the overnight visitors will use this facility!!!! The rest of our stay was awesome! The shop is beautiful and the food at the cattle barron was delicious.

Two of the gentlemen came and helped us and their help was outstanding, thank you.I lost my cellphone on our last evening we were there, 13 Nov. I just want to report I found it when we got home, had fallen into the bag I put our dirty washing into. Please let the staff at the gate know it was found. I reported it to them on 14 November as we were leaving. Will definitely be back.Thank you.

The camp and accommodation at Addo was neat clean and comfortable. The park was beautiful, we saw lion, large herds of Kudu, and Eland in beautiful condition. The roads were well maintained and what I liked best of the park was that there are waterholes like the Domkrag waterhole where you can get out of your car and watch the elephants interact and play in the water! There is no other park in SA where you can get so close to the animals. A very satisfying experience!

We stayed three nights in the rest camp in a Rondavel with a lovely view of the watering hole, a good fridge, and access to a well stocked communal kitchen, in which each rondavel had a labelled draw of utensils to be used in good stove tops, etc. We actually did not use the communal kitchen, but, thanks to the fridge, we had wonderful breakfasts of muesli, fruit, yogurt, etc. and leftovers from the restaurant meals we enjoyed. On the first morning we took a guided game drive, which led us to see a lone buffalo near the route, an aging elephant crossing the road ahead while the driver explained that he was an elder and also in "musht". He explained the signs and gave us serious warnings about staying away from elephants with those signs (which we did in Kruger!). That afternoon and early the next morning we went out again and saw many additional elephants from our own car on the very well marked roads (every intersection corresponded to a number on the map; there is absolutely no need for a GPS here). Also good, we were able to use our Wild Card, purchased in Cape Point for the conservation fees. Over the whole trip, we very much more than paid it off! All visitors to many parks should purchase it.In all, it was a magnificent introduction to South Africa's game parks. Thank you.

We were most impressed with the Staff at Addo, pleaant and accommodating. The restuarant was clean, presentable and we enjoyed several meals we had there. Accommodation in the Forest Cabins was excellent, serviced much to our surprise and the communial kitchen was always spotless, my husband and I think that the other National Parks should take a long, hard look at what Addo is doing because whatever it is, they are doing it correctly. Camp site was extremely busy and therefore much too noisy for a "Rest Camp" in a nature reserve. Also, stands marked for caravans were all taken up by tents although the tent campers do have their own stands. I feel camp attendants should see to it that people camp on their correct sites. Attendants in shop was not very friendly and helpful - it was as if it was a great effort to serve one. Office staff (reception) was excellent.

The tents at Addo are becoming a little shabby. There is also not a work surface in the tent to prepare a drink if the weather is bad outside. The waterhole at the tented camp appeared "fixed" and I got the idea the buffaloes lived within its confines- this is merely a perception. The restaurant food was not up to standard with the vegetables being embarrassingly overcooked and kept warm for a while. The service was slow and the attention given by the waiters appalling. As avid nature lovers we find Addo not to be a destination of choice any longer.

We last stayed at Addo a few year's ago but wanted to go back to the safari tents as we had enjoyed staying there so much. Our only concern was the shared kitchen and ablution block. Our recent stay was even better than before. The new water hole opposite the tents attracted 3 young elephants every after noon which were a joy to watch as was the evening and morning chorus from the water.I had read criticism of the restaurant. Instructions for use of TV should be separate and more clearly placed next to the TV. We only found these later and in meantime found we had had all the wrong things so the TV didn't work. We didn't raise a complaint because we don't go the game park to watch TV - but the rugby final was on and we would have liked to see that.We didn't see as much game as our previous 2 visits probably because the park had had so much rain. However this was offset by beautiful fresh green vegetation and wonderful array of flowers.

It was value for money and the facitities, service, self game drives were great. There are not many places such as Addo, where people from the Eastern Cape can enjoy spending a few nights in a game park at a affordable rate. We will be back.Kind Regards, Craig

We enjoyed the park and its wildlife, relaxed when compared with the animals on a recent Kruger visit. The catering at the tents was a bit tricky - no dining space near kitchen, no tap near tent. Chairs very uncomfortable!(Cf Camdeboo which excelled in these details.)Staff great, except uninterested waiters in restaurant.

Our reception was friendly and courteous. Our overall impression of the park was impressive. We were lucky to have arrived after all the rain and having the veld in tip top condition. The animals were also in good condition enjoying the lush veld. Our accommodation was very good and well serviced during our stay. The equipment supplied was good. It would have been nice to have at least one complimentary bag of braai wood. We enjoyed the layout of the park and the loops which gave us different views and animals. The picnic area (Jack's) was particularly well placed and absolutely pristine, from the braai picnic areas to the toilet facilities. A really good value pleasant stay.

I accompanied an Irishman who was in South Africa for the first time. In 24 hours we saw an incredible amount of wild animals - nothing extraordinary - but which pleased him immensely. The elephant families were particularly pleasing.Given more time, we would have a much longer list.

Our kitchen utensils allocated to our tent were incomplete. The stove assigned to our tent wasn't working properly. The alarming thing was that it was on even though off the the switch and this hadn't been picked up by the staff. I could feel the heat coming from the stove while pending down to get utensils from the cupboard below. The concerning issue was that a sewer pipe was overflowing for a day and a half before being attended to, and straight down towards our tent. It was raining though, which did make the repair a challenge. It is a beautiful park. I would like to visit again, in better weather. Most of the staff helpful and friendly.

Once again, on our 3rd trip to Addo, we had close encounters with a number of elephants, all bulls this time, who came within a trunk's reach of our car. We were able to see quite close several black backed jackals, a number of kudu, lots of warthogs, and even a pair of genets, who visited us as we sat on our tented deck enjoying the dying light. The vision of two dozen egrets sailing down to alight for their night perch just opposite us was also quite thrilling. We have a number of quite good photos that we can add to this review if you so desire. Our only disappointment was the guided early AM tour, which did not go off the main road in search of more elusive game. We could have done the same drive, at no cost, in our own vehicle, and not frozen nearly blue. This was not good value for the 880 Rand we paid.

She returned it to the office and they phoned us. We collected it all on Monday! We sincerely commend the park's staff on their honesty and for all the trouble they went to to return the items. We always enjoy our visits to the "wild". All the personnel are very friendly. We love the newly added "Jack's Picnic Site". Must comment on the extremely neat and tidy restrooms at Jack's Picnic site - what a pleasure to stop there. We recommend that guests enter at the gate near the N2 at Colchester - this way you can drive through the park on your way to the main camp - and spot the animals. (That we did not do.) Went that way when we left. Once again we had no luck in seeing the lions...ugh! But did see a lot of other animals. Well worth it!

This was our first visit to Addo and we did enjoy it. The restaurant was pleasant and the service good. The cottage was adequate although one of the plugs did not work, but we were warm and cosy despite the freezing temperatures outside. The park has some lovely drives and it was particularly special as we had our grandchildren with us for their first visit to a game reserve, and they enjoyed it immensely. Just a pity we did not see as many elephants as we would have liked, and no cats at all, but that is just the luck of the draw, I know, but it would have been very thrilling for them as we are regular visitors to national parks locally and across the borders and are very keen for our grandchildren to discover the thrill of being out there in the wilderness with the animals. We will visit Addo again in the future.

Our family loves Addo. During our 3 visits to Addo we had a lot of fun and saw a lot of animals. When booking a tent site and you have big tents you must hope the few bigger sites are not taken before you arrive. You just might not be able to fit your tent into the smaller sites. I suggest you book a caravan site from the start, then you are sure that you can fit in everything on the site.

I took the sunrise and sunset drive because they offer better opportunities to view rhinos and lions but I was a little disappointed because I couldn't see them. It was my first game drive so I was expecting a lot. Be prepared for the cold wind blowing across your body before sunrise and after sunset in the winter. The forest cabin where I stayed offered a warm place for my friends and I to stay in the cold night. I had a good sleep but the price was a little steep but it was convenient that the cabin was right in the park.

The furnishings are very tired looking. There was not one carpet or rug on the very cold floors. Especially on the sides of the beds. Our heater in our chalet was not working. luckily we had brought our own. The place is sorely in need of maintenance. The mat outside our door looked like a lion had eaten half of it. I am emabarrassed for tourists to see what is very over priced accomadation.

The accomodation was good other than the bathroom sliding door which was difficult to close. I did find though that the choice of food in the shop for an overnight stay was very limited. Thank you, once again. for a lovely stay at one of your Parks. We always know that it is a great expreience and look forward to our stay in the Kruger next month with friends from Australia.

The cottage where we stayed was clean and comfortable. But there were no pyrex dishes for use in the microwave oven. Also some small salad bowls would be useful for just two people. We also saw and avoided many dung beetles

Was stunning - friendly staff, great viewing animals in great condition - two small negative comments if I may - the pots in the communal kitchen were minus handles and the wheel chair type entrance to your deck of the safari tents (No 2) was so slippery after a bit of rain that I experienced a hard fall on the day of our departure cannot there be anti skid strips or something be fitted also I believe that they are a bit steep for the normal wheel chair visitor - BUT all in all the visit was a wonderful experience - Many Thanks

The caravan sites is above average. However the same cannot be said of the way Kudus are managed. Male species accounts for 80% of sightings compared to female and calves.

We can't wait to revisit Addo. It's quiet, relaxing and exceptionall well organized.

Forest huts not comfortable for older folk. Some utensils need replacing - one pot with no lid handle. Bathroom curtain in tatters. Shower mat badly broken and a hazard for older folk.

Whilst camping at Addo is very enjoyable , it is nice to be able to stretch your legs with a nice walk, most of the foreign visitors enjoy walking, you have a wonderful walk at Addo Zurberg, but very little information is offered at the camp about this hiking facility. People will stay on an extra day to include it in their visit.
