"Ekuthuleni Lodge Welgevonden is the perfect place to be for a much needed weekend away. From the minute Heath collected us at the main gate, it was pure bliss. On arrival we were met by Jozi, Sinah and Lazarus, who were attentive and polite the entire weekend, Jozi produced the most amazing meals, Sinah - was quiet and did a superb job, as well as Lazarus who assisted Jozi and helped wherever he can. The regular ranger (Jonas) was on leave, so we had the privilege to be spoilt by Heath, who made sure our game drives were exciting and extremely informative, both early morning and afternoon drives were filled with excellent viewing and the sunset drinks and eats were impeccable, Jozi made the most amazing Biltong bites, all meals were faultless. The rooms were extremely comfortable and clean. The resident Elephant visited us on our first night and kept us entertained for hours with his antics. I would recommend Ekuthuleni Lodge and will be back as soon as possible."

"This is my 2nd visit to Welgevonden Game Reserve and 1st to Ekuthuleni Lodge, stayed for 2 nights and managed to see 4 of the big five, service at the lodge was very good, staff very friendly, although no off-roading is allowed at this game reserve but you manage to see games up close. Its a good place to see cheetahs."

"Fantastic lodge with really special staff and hospitality that takes care of your every need. The accommodation is great and the food is prepared and presented with love and care. The game drives are interesting and informative with regular sightings of the big 5. If you have the opportunity to go for a few days, then go, you will not be disappointed."

"A quick 2.5 hours from OR Thambo and you will find the gates to peace on earth. Ekutuleni means "place of peace" and never has a more appropriate name been given to a lodge. Jonas, will collect you at the gate. his sense of humour and knowledge of the bush and the animals living in the Welgevonden Reserve (where you will find EkutulenI) is above reproach. Vivienne and her team will meet you on the first day and every game drive thereafter with warm hand towels to wipe the dust off your hands. The perfect touch to end a perfect drive. We were there in winter and the little "bush babies" (hot water bottles) and blankets to keep you warm on the drives is amazing. But the accommodation and the treatment received will make you know you are amongst "friends". You will arrive as strangers, but leave as friends that is a guarantee. Then the bush... is just absolutely heavenly. you can hear you heart beat when the engines off the game vehicles are switched off, so you can watch the doings of a herd of Elephants, or the antics of the Zebras, or when you fix your sights on the King of the Jungle... a male lion with the most beautiful mane of hair you have ever seen. There are no fences, and animals roam free, but so will you when you open your bathroom doors and lie and gaze at the bush from a hot, relaxing bubble bath. *sigh* i found my happy place."

"To say that this lodge is a 5* experience is in my mind a bit of an understatement. The beautiful setting, the warm hospitality, the excellent food, and educational game drive makes for a truly remarkable experience. On arrival, the entire staff meets you at the entrance of the lodge to welcome you and introduce themselves. This warm service continues throughout your stay with staff attending to you throughout the day, including a nightly turn down. The food is great and we simply couldn't wait for our next meal. The game drives are phenomenal and Jonas must be commended for his expertise, patience and kind heart. The morning coffee in the bush, or the evening sundowners and snacks are a daily highlight. Vivienne, the general manager, is a true star and our stay would not have been the stay without her. All in all, it is the perfect holiday to relax and see wonderful animals. Allow yourself enough time to both go on the game drives, and relax at the lodge by reading in the sun. We definitely hope to be back soon!"

"My wife and I went to Ekuthuleni lodge for our anniversary and we had the most amazing time. They have very friendly staff and we were treated like royalty from the time we arrived. The food was 5 star and complements to the chef Senah. The ranger Jonas that took us on all the game drives was world class and he had an exceptionally good knowledge of the wild life and the bush. We will definitely be visiting Ekuthuleni lodge very soon."

"Very friendly staff and good service. Excellent food. Twice daily game drives good. Rooms cozy and clean with great bathrooms. Only ten guests maximum to ensure intimate atmosphere if you prefer it. Plenty of opportunity for good photography."

"When we came all of the staff was waiting for us, they shaked our hands and we got warm wet towels to clean off the dirt. The view from the luxurious rooms and swimming pool and terrace is amazing, you can see animals most of the time. Great and big bathroom behind your sleeping room, with sight on your own garden with birds and monkeys. The staff was so nice, and the food was really good. We got a special cake on my birthday. It was great! Really like to go back."

"It is all about the service, quality and hospitality of the people who welcome you and attend to your every need. The management and staff at Ekuthuleni Lodge are simply superb in their attention to detail in focusing on your experience and enjoyment of the excellent facilities and most enjoyable game drives. The pleasant and comfortable chalets provides privacy and the kitchen staff, with the cheerful Jozi at their head, ensures that your culinary expectations are tastefully met and exceeded. Martha and Lazarus attend to the chalets and lodge in general in a most unobtrusive and diligent manner ensuring that the rooms and lodge are spotlessly presented. Jonas will literally drive the extra miles and put in additional hours above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that you enjoy exceptional game viewings. Jonas' knowledge of the bush also greatly compliments the game drive experience. Game viewing of the Big Five is available literally on your doorstep. We had breathtaking game viewings of elephants, lions and leopard etc almost at touching distance. With Bridget and Heath at the helm it is quite clear that management has a very effective and hands-on approach with great benefit to the guests. Management and the personnel seamlessly synthesize and integrate their services with nature, your needs and experience in the bush. They and their lodge are unreservedly recommended!"
