Simbavati Migration Camp, follows the wildebeest migration around the Serengeti. It moves it’s prime location twice a year, seasonally, positioning itself best for river crossing sightings during the Great Migration and the wildebeest birthing period later in the year. The camp opening is planned for August 2023.
Nestled amidst the open plains between the Serengeti National Park and the Grumeti River, Simbavati Migration Camp is a beacon of luxury and adventure. This mobile camp moves its prime location twice a year to follow the wildebeest migration and capture the calving season.
Simbavati Migration Camp moves seasonally through the Serengeti, following the wildebeest migration. The luxury mobile camp is based in the north from June to October, perfectly placed to witness the Mara River crossings. It moves to the southern plains from December to March, ensuring a prime position where the wildebeest give birth to thousands of calves each year.
Six luxurious mobile tents are positioned to embrace the tranquillity and majesty of the wilderness, while twice-daily game drives seek out the wildebeest and a myriad of other wildlife on safari. Guests can also watch the birdlife and animals right from the camp, allowing for moments of pure awe and contemplation.
Game drives take place in the early morning and late afternoon, when the animals are naturally most active.
The camp features a central dining and lounge tent where guests can congregate during mealtimes while watching zebras or Thomson’s gazelles pass by. Several times a week, dinner is served in a more hearty, campfire-style fashion under the stars in a "boma," a circular enclosure originally made from branches. The cosy, lantern-lit ambience recalls the early days of safari pioneers.

Mel has been exceptional in helping us…
Mel has been exceptional in helping us book our trip to South Africa. She gave me insight about what to do and where to go and put up with my 1000 changes to the trip. I highly recommend working with her and I cannot wait to make it to the actual trip. Im so excited!

Mel was fantastic but do your research!
Mel from Safari.com went above and beyond to ensure that our entire trip went smoothly. We visited both South Africa and Zimbabwe. We had a few hiccups along the way, as we were initially assigned another agent (who no longer works there) and unfortunately gave us high expectations and promises that weren’t fulfilled. She promised us a Ngala / Sabi safari type of experience in South Africa but booked us a lodge called Kusudalweni (which was no where near that type of experience! The service, food, location, and planned activities were all beyond disappointing. Would definitely avoid this place!!). Mel was not familiar with this lodge and unfortunately just followed along the previous agent. Mel tried her best to arrange another lodge and offer us other game drives but unfortunately the lodge was extremely difficult to deal with. Although, she organised the lodge in Zimbabwe and that was incredible! She was extremely responsive throughout our entire trip and ensured to contact our hotels, guides, etc. anytime we had a problem, it was such a relief to not have to worry about any of the hassle while we were there. My biggest recommendation is making sure to do your research about the lodges / hotels that are offered and see if they align with the type of “luxury” experience you are expecting. Mel was definitely great at ensuring we knew exactly what we were getting and I would definitely recommend requesting her specifically. Mel deserves a 5 star rating but unfortunately, due to the issues we had with the previous agent at this company, I had to give it an overall 4 star review.
