Lilydale Rest Camp
A SANParks self-catering camp.
In the open plains and thorny koppies of the Northern Cape, Lilydale’s cozy, self-catering chalets overlook the Riet River. Amidst the diamond-yielding dolerite hills, the secluded chalets provide a tranquil space for relaxation surrounded by the untouched and unique natural beauty of the Nama Karoo. Situated approximately 70 kilometers from the main section of Mokala National Park, the camp offers a secluded escape to total wilderness.
We do not take rest camp bookings. Camps are booked directly with SANParks, where current tariffs are published.

Accommodation
- The 3-bed Bungalows with air conditioning consist of a double bed and a single bed in the same open plan area. This includes your bathroom and a mini kitchenette with a seating area. Some kitchenettes are furnished with a hotplate, while others have a stove and oven.
- The 5-bed Bungalows with air conditioning consist of a double bed and a single bed on the ground level, with a further 2 single beds located in the loft area. This includes your bathroom and a mini kitchenette with a seating area. Some kitchenettes are furnished with a hotplate, while others have a stove and oven.
Activities & Facilities
Mokala provides ample activities for the outdoor adventurer, canoeing, early morning, day, sunset and night game drives (bookable at reception on arrival). Excursions to view ancient rock art painting and engravings. Stofberg Bird-hide is a birders dream. At Lilydale there is a swimming only for overnight guests as well as catch and release fly fishing on the Riet river. The fishing areas (De Krans and Kleinbek) are only accessible by high clearance 4x4.Picnic areas at Matopi and Kameeldoring both with braai facilities and ablutions blocks.

We do not take rest camp bookings. What our safari specialists do arrange is South Africa's private reserves: private lodges where expert guiding, meals and game drives are included, and nothing is left to the camp kitchen. We look after international travellers and SADC residents alike, and many lodges offer reduced SADC rates.
