Mauritius is a tropical paradise with a medley of cultures, landscapes, and activities. With stunning beaches Mauritius is renowned for its pristine white sandy beaches, vibrant coral reefs and turquoise lagoons.

Why

Other than the stunning white beaches, Mauritius offers a wide variety of water-based activities, such as snorkeling, scuba diving, and underwater sea walking to parasailing, kite surfing, and deep-sea fishing. Boasting with stunning landscapes such as the Seven Coloured Earths in Chamarel, the Black River Gorges National Park, and the UNESCO-listed Le Morne Brabant.

Who can forget the luxury resorts and spas, world-class service and awe-inspiring ocean views.

Highlights

  • Rich Culture and Heritage; The diverse cultural blend of Indian, African, Chinese, and French influences
  • Gastronomic Delights; Mauritian cuisine is a fusion of Creole, Chinese, European, and Indian flavors
  • Island Hopping to nearby Islands; Île aux Serpents, Île d'Ambre, and Île aux Aigrettes

When

The island has a tropical climate. You will experience warm temperatures throughout the year. However, there are distinct seasons, and each comes with its own set of advantages

Warm Summer Months (November to April):

  • High humidity and temperatures ranging between 25°C to 33°C
  • January to March is peak cyclone season - Although direct hits are rare, it's essential to keep this in mind
  • December to February is the festive season
  • Ideal time for water sports and beach activities, as sea temperature is warmer

Cooler Winter Months - The Mauritian winter(May to October):

  • Temperatures range between 17°C to 25°C
  • Coolest months are July and August
  • Sea visibility is at its peak, this makes it the best time for diving
  • June to August are popular months for wind sports like kitesurfing

Peak Tourist Seasons:

  • Warmer summer months, particularly December to January
  • Prices are usually higher during this period
  • Mini-peak season, July to August, coinciding with school holidays

Where

Mauritius is located in the Indian Ocean, approximately 2,000 kilometers (1,200 miles) off the southeastern coast of Africa.

How to get there: Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (SSR) near the city of Mahebourg is the primary international gateway to Mauritius.

Aquilia Safari trip
Re: Safari from Cape Town to Aquilia. Fadiel was very helpful and organised our trip for us. We were picked up by Joe, who was our driver for the day. Joe is born and raised in Cape Town. He was prompt and was very friendly and informative. There was a good choice of food at Aquilia and had choices for my husband too who is Coeliac.

Mel is friendly and patient
I would usually book my trips myself. Lucky for me I sent off an enquiry to Safari.com and received Mel's wonderful help. Mel responded quickly and made me feel comfortable with Safari.com. organising my trip. Later on, when I realised my dates didn't work with the rest of my trip, Mel gave me my options and costings and rebooked for me. Mel was very patient and friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to use Mel again.

Planning Our Family African Safari Experience
Planning our first trip to Africa was a really big deal for us. After careful review of numerous safari planners, we selected safari.com and worked with Nicole Van der Merwe. There's a lot of parts in putting together such a vacation including ground transfers, hotels, activities, and flights. At each step we had numerous questions and Nicole patiently worked through these with professionalism and care to her customers. I would recommend Nicole and safari.com for anyone planning a trip to South Africa.
