Sabi Sand is Brimming with the most spectacular wildlife sightings.
Sharing unfenced borders in the south-western corner of the world-renowned Kruger National Park is the privately owned Sabi Sand Game Reserve. With wildlife moving freely between the Kruger and the Sabi Sands, guests are afforded an equal opportunity of seeing the Kruger's diverse wildlife, including the famous Big Five (Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard).
The Sabi Sands is renowned for its big cat sightings, particularly the elusive leopard, and is internationally recognized for its selection of luxury safari accommodation, fewer crowds, off-road game drives that allow guides to follow animals into the bush, and spot-lit night safaris. The Sabi Sands is relatively small compared to the Kruger. There are entry level lodges with the likes of Umkembe all the way up to world class 5-star experiences at places like MalaMala and Leopard Hills.
Winter, ie. May till October is cool and dry, and you have the easiest game viewing since trees have lost their leaves. But December to April mean beautiful, vibrant scenery and baby animals.
