Bungalow was very adequate for our purposes, clean bedding and towels, comfortable beds and a very efficient air conditioner. Although on very hot nights a ceiling fan would have been a welcome addition to the furnishings.

We had a party of 8 in the Rhino guest house. The lodge was immaculate and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would be good if the gas bar could be made to work and if WiFi could be made more accessible at the Reception.

As a group of 4 Adults and two children in 2 MP-V's we arrived early on the morning of October 1st at Malelane gate. The gate staff were friendly and professional, with even the assigned SAPS officer showing the kids the big skulls outside and telling them about the animals, while we went through the sign in motions. Our camp for the first night (Bergendal) was close to the gate, so we did a short circuit around the area before going there. The southern tip is teeming with a huge variety of wildlife, and we had seen three of the big five within a few hours. On arrival at Bergendal, the check in process was seamless, the staff were excellent, and the amenities at the camp were brilliant. The guest house we had booked was very clean, modern and comfortable with everything we needed and more. The following morning we headed North toward Skukuza taking a variety of back roads, to go to watering holes, viewpoints and hides. We reached Skukuza Around 1:pm and by then had seen Lion feeding, Elephant herds, several Rhino, Giraffe, all manner of Buck, and even a Cheetah. Skukuza was great, and we spent the evening having a barbecue. The only disappointment was there was no facility at the restaurant or bar to watch the Springboks play in the Rugby World cup. On previous visits there has always been facilities at the bar or Restaurant? The next day we drove toward Pretoriuskop leaving early, and completed our trip with a spectacular leopard sighting, no more than 10 to 15 meters away from us. All in another very memorable long weekend in the Kruger, I will keep coming back for more.

Berg n Dal is tucked away in the hills and seems to be in a dry part of the park. The view from the camp is limited but there are plenty Rhino in close proximity. Food and accommodation is good.

I did not know that I could have selected a particular unit - the one assigned to us was not ideally located on the perimeter. The sewerage system behind our unit kept overflowing, it smelled terrible and we had to dodge the stream on the way to our car. Otherwise a good experience.

As usual the KNP was great. The only criticism we have is the fact that the manager of the Wimpy at Pretoriuskop decided to erect a jumping castle on the lawn between the Wimpy and the shop. Instead of listening to the birds (who are now gone) we were irritated by an air compressor while having breakfast. The manager was very proud of his initiative, even after I called him an idiot. I will visit the park again next year but out of principle will avoid Pretoriuskop. The manager of the camp was not available when I requested to speak to him.

Berg & Dal is a wonderful camp to stay in. The chalets here are some of the best Kruger Park has to offer. Ask for one of the upgraded chalets (units 20 to 33). They are quite a bit bigger than the older ones and have a huge shower and separate toilet. The beds are not built into the walls like in the older ones and can be moved together, and the undercover patio is great. We stayed in no 25 (a three bed chalet) on the perimeter, which was awesome. The camp is just a bit far from the other camps so be prepared to spend many hours driving. We love going to Lower Sabie (where we could not find accommodation) as you see a lot of animals there, and found it very effective to get there by exiting at Malelane gate and re-entering at Crocodile Bridge gate. On that tar road up to Skukuza we saw the Big Five and a lot of other animals within a morning's drive.

Thank you it was a great trip, saw wild dogs on the 1st morning Big 5 on the second day. Only thing that was not so good at Berg-en-Dal was that the restaurant did not have what we wanted on the menu, the ladies showers only had one fully functional shower and the camp was full.

I was very impressed with the unit. I requested against the bush and I received a lovely unit - very private on the bush! The linen and bedding is of very good quality. Nice and new. We also had everything we needed in the unit. The camp - very nice and lovely atmosphere.

We treated an overseas visitor to the "Nature Experience" and were very fortunate to repeatedly see all of the Big Five per day!The Cottage is comfortable, but the kitchen outlay is not very practical.We found that all the Park employees are very friendly and helpful, ensuring that our stay in the Park was an unforgettable experience!

The accommodation met with some problems as their were no lights in the spare room. I did not report it as we were out most of the day and did not want strangers in our room. I found it odd that the cleaner did not report this as the room is very dark, even in the day. We managed though. I found the kitchen utensils to be very limited as well as serving bowls, but overall we managed. It is the bush afterall. Everything else was very comfortable and cannot complain. The place is kept clean and the staff are friendly. Our viewings / sightings were amazing!! That's why we were there. We had a great time - thank you!

Hi there. We had an awesome time and will return. They only problem we had is with the ablution blocks. They need to be made bigger with more shower, baths and toilets, and also we had endless problems with hot water. The quality and price of the restaurant's food also needs to be addressed. Except for that we had a very nice time.

The park was beautiful as always. The berg en dal camp needs to up its game but it is easy to do. The unit was old, dingy and hopelessly under-equipped. It needs an oven, proper crockery, knives, containers and proper cooking utensils. It did not even have the basics and we had to buy our own knives, mixing bowls, bottle opener etc fromt he shop - which is not on. This is very simple to rectify. Our toilet overflowed and flooded the inside of the house, as did the drain outside which flooded the braai area. The maintenance guys said the plumbing is old and often gives problems. The units could do with television - people will not use it if they don't want to but it helps with small kids and keeps them quiet so that others in the camp don't have to deal with their boredom. The linen, position of the unit, basic service and shop/restaurant/pool facilities were spot on.

I had a good trip and stayed at the various Camping Sites. The roads both Tar and Dirt are in very poor condition from all my previous visits as thus able to make this comment, if in normal cars be aware of this especially on the Dirt Roads, I eventually stayed off them and missed a lot of viewing. The camps are getting run down, but the people are good and very helpful. I was disappointed that the camp Sites are not controlled and others take up more space that they are allocated or just used up two Sites and people were forced to miss out, others were obviously taking up two Power Points for Electricity and I had to miss out despite asking them to unplug one Lead, rude and uncaring but them Kruger should police this aspect. There is a lot of noise in the Camps despite being asked to tone it down, Radios - Generator and boozing into the nights. Another Camping Only site had a couple with visitors and the loud attitude was not appreciated, we are there for the wild life and experience the wild night life, not some afrikaans couple shouting screaming their heads off and not caring when several others asked them quiet down.Over all a good trip despite the poor road attitude in blocking bother sides of the road when they see something of interest and others either cannot get a look in or pass them, another real difficulty.would I go again YES YES YES, but be aware and make some plans.

Our chalet was not properly stocked, with crockery and cutlery missing which the reception knew about. House keeping did not wash all dishes on 2 days and left unpacked which was not as previous visits. Our morning game drive booking was done incorrectly which caused stress at 4h45 in the morning which was not a great start. However as always, the bush is certainly a treat and we will definitely be back soon.

2 Nights at Berg & Dal - Enjoyable2 nights at Balule - Total disaster - Reception personel at Olifants Camp ignorant and incompetent. No information offered re road closures to Balule. No signage to the effect. Result was we drove additional 150 km's with damage to caravan. Also no information offered re road closures when checking in at Satara.2 nights at Skukuza - Enjoyable.Overall experience. Kruger has gone backwards since 4 years ago. Speed limits seem to apply to tourists only and not Park officials.Game drivers rude and offensive and they drive like tow truck drivers. Not value for money any more when driving 2000 km's to get there from Hermanus.

We loved our three days in Berg-en-Dal. The accommodation was lovely and peaceful with daily visits by a dwarf mongoose and her little one, loads of birdlife from our patio and a beautiful dam in which we saw hippo, waterbuck, crocodile, bushbuck, much bridlife and many water birds. The area abounds with rhino and elephant and we even saw leopard and lion but the birdlife was particularly exciting and we marked off many species on our birdlist - my son is now a hooked twitcher! The night drive is really worth doing - just remember to take along warm clothes. On the downside, the lack of a microwave in the kitchen; and the restaurant facilities at Skukuza were disappointingly bad. It's time that a franchise operation took over and ran the place in a more professional manner. Overall, a lovely camp in a lovely location and well-run.

I believe the ablusion facilities can be modernised. Pls view Mapumalanga's International Airport's restrooms (next to the Wimpy). It would also be nice if each stand's parameters can be marked clearly. Some people park a car, caravan, tent, canopy, etc, etc - and take up two sites.

We had a great few days in the Kruger Park. The location of the Berg-en-Dal rest camp is really convenient when travelling from Johannesburg and we saw 90% of the animals within about 20km from the camp. The chalet is a bit older (not luxurious), but was well equipped, neat and very comfortable. The one porch light was not working, but after phoning reception the handyman was at our chalet within minutes to fix it!

We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff were excellent. I do unfortunately think that the price you pay for what you get is a bit over the top. Our fridge didn't work and we weren't the only ones. I believe there is a lot of maintenance that should be done in the camp. They should also consider discounts for people who have a Wild Card.

We were a multinational party of seven people from the USA, the UK and SA. Visiting the KNP is, as always, an exceptional experience, the weather, except for one violent evening storm whilst on a night drive, was good, the accommodation was adequate and the Park was teeming with game in the south.The experience was marred only by being refused permission to go on a bush walk, due to our age. We are in our 60's. Despite being allowed before (about two years ago - when I was over 60).We all regarded this as age discrimination, the bush walks are gentle strolls through flat terrain at a leisurely pace. We are all healthy, and frequent and experienced walkers through far rougher terrain and more difficult conditions.The receptionist did make mention of possible doctor's certificate certifying that we are fit, which obviously (although one of our party is a doctor), it was too late to do at that stage, although may have been possible had we known of this before we arrived.I think some further thought on the matter of a global age exclusion would be sensible.

Generally, a thoroughly enjoyable trip, helped by courteous, welcoming staff. The bush is thick due to the rains,but very attractive.The only negative was the feeling that the Game Drive Vehicle drivers from outside the Park are now getting out of hand. They obviously communicate among each other and tear off to any Big 5 sighting, breaking the speed limit, dominating the sighting as if the normal visitors are irrelevant. It is time SANParks introduced a system whereby the public are invited to report these cowboys

Kruger National Park is fantastic for the amount of game, the roads, the excellent game drives on offer. We saw so many elephant, and I know that has its problems, but they are beautiful. There are two negatives. The food on offer is poor quality and the same menu on offer in the whole region is ridiculous. The other negative is the very off-hand manner in which visitors are received at the entry gates, when paying the exorbitant conservation fee. The reception staff, in particular the females, really need to work on their service skills.Most of the staff in the shops and restaurants were helpful and the guides on the game drives were wonderful. The park has amazing potential to boost the economy through overseas tourists. Please don't let poor attitudes and over-commercialization spoil the experience.

The weather was very disappointing, as there had been days of rain prior to my one day visit. Only tarmacked roads were accessible and the evening and morning safaris were cancelled. That said, I did see rhinos, hippos, and antelope, and enjoyed my trip very much.

We paid for a sunset game drive and experienced hostility and aggressive attitude from the game driver. We were 6 adults over 60 years, and 2 visitors from Australia (of which my son was one)with me on the truck.The driver was hostile, unpleasant and very bosy and made our experience negative. We were instructed to NOT talk and sit down at all times and only use our cell phones to contact each other. That was absurd.The first siting was a leopard walking alongside the truck for 300 meters. Some of us were on the other side of the truck and could NOT stand or move to the side where the leopard was seen. The dirver personaaly reprimanded me like a child and told me to sit down and keep quiet or he will leave the siting.He spoke to the rest of the visitors on thr truck in the same manner. People ended up staying in their seats and missed the sitting if it was not on oyur side of the truck.It was not possible to take photos - the event was missed. The next animal was a lioness and we were qgiven the same orders and treatment. We were treated like children on a bus trip with the coach. His negative and aggressive attitude made our experience not only unpleasnat but not worth the money we paid for the drive. The Austrailians expressed it as neagtive, unpleasant customer service and care and will not refer otners to visit the Park based on their first expereince.I told the driver that we needed to be given better service for our money and time spend.Personllay I will not take visitors from outside south africa to the Park again, because Raymond said this is how things are done at all the Camp site(this is bad advertisement for the kruger National Park).The comment the visitors made was 'never again'.It must be emphasised that customer care and service is priority and staff who interact with clients must be skilled and competent interms of customer relations, communication and interaction to enable profesisonal service to be provided

We were booked in at Skukuza but after staying in Berg en Dal the previous week , we were so impressed with the camp that we asked our travel agent Tanya Lomas (what a gem) to change our booking to Berg en Dal. She immediately changed it and we had a ball. Saw every animal we were hoping to see on our early morning drives. We saw leopards lying in the street, one had a baby and was walking along the roadside. We saw a hyena mama lying in the road with 4 babies playing around her.That was so fantastic!.2 female lions was walking on the s114 .Every morning 2 male lions were lying near the road as if they were waiting for the visitors to come and say hello. Third time at Berg-en-Dal. Camp is very well run like all the camps but the bungalows could do with a revamp. Extremely dark and a little dingy with all the brick and unsatisfactory lighting. The courtyards at the cottages are nice too but could do with a cover for the dining for rain/hot sun. Service a bit slow/indifferent in the restaurant. Overall though a well run camp. Check-in staff EXTREMELY efficient.

I had requested a unit in 20's section and was told they were full. After walking through the camp there didn't seem to be anybody staying in those units. The air-con didn't work properly, the cooking area had hardly any supplies with the stove not working and no micro-wave. How do you expect people to do self-catering with no supplies.

There is a marked improvement in friendliness throughout the Kruger NP. Camping at Berg-en-Dal was really fantastic and most enjoyable. The ablutions were clean but in serious need of maintenance regarding the structures etc. The camp in general was untidy (grass and lawns not cut/mowed and swimming pool filthy(green water and pool side covered in thick black algae.Monkies cause a loy of damage in the camping site and even baboons enter the camp - dangerous.Pretorius Kop and Lower Sabie was clean and neat(grass mowed/cut and clean pool at PK.

A great and exciting stay at Berg-en-dal. Just a drive out of our campsite and there were the elephants, leopard, lions, wild dogs and rhino. Exceptional views off all the animals on the roadside. I am never disappointed by my trips to Kruger. This time I had an international visitor with me and he was very impressed.I have never stayed at Berg 'n Dal before and was very impressed with the accommodation. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The "Bug Lady" was wonderful and full of interesting information and help. We were lucky to see the Big 5 as well as Black Rhino and Wild Dogs! The only let down was the restaurant food which was far below the quality expected!

We were surprised by the interior of these bungalows which are very,very basic. Tiles are used for kitchen tops(counter) and some broken.One of the bungalows fridge was not working. We reported it. Will not use these bungalows again.

The stay at Kruger Park was as per normal most enjoyable. The bungalow was ideal and the Berg-En-Dal camp was perfect, the shop was well stocked and our every need was catered for.As far as the Park was concerned we saw most of everything, the Cheetah's and Wild Dog once again eluded us, the good news is that we have to return to try and sight them. The major concern was that some members of the public disregard the park closing times and then have to speed to make it before closing which in many cases was dangerous, on one occasion an Impala was almost collided with, I reported the matter to the Satara camp manager.We will be back, I have already booked our bungalow for December 2012.

The 2 bed, 6 sleeper wasn't what we expected and had to book another chalet for two people to give them a better bed to sleep in. The camp is beautiful and helpful staff. The access to cash via the ATM was not sufficient.

We stayed at Berg-en-dal from the 21/12/2011-26/12/2011. The camp was very busy so we had to look for the last available stand. No shade! It's best then to check in early as most checks out early. The Facilities were okay. It is just that our fellow campers don't feel the need to clean the shower and toilets after use. Wonder how their houses look! I prefer staying at the Sattelite camps in future as you are more in contact with the wildlife as in the main camps. But thank you to Kruger for giving us another wonderful bush experience.

We travelled with grandparents and my own kids.So it was a diverse group. We were impressed by the friendliness and knowledge of the staff and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The pool was well maintained and a great design, ideal for little kids and adults alike, most enticing after a hot drive in the Park. And the wildlife and landscapes were diverse and rich. We were most impressed and will certainly visit again. Well done to the Kruger team!Most amazing of all was seeing a 'herd' of 12 white rhino very near to the camp. Perhaps they are learning, safety in numbers and ganging up on poachers!

We had a three day trip to Mpumalanga, the highlight being the one and a half days in the park, I was unable to get accommodation at Lower Sabie so I was given accommodation at the Berg en dal camp. It was super, the pool was clean the accommodation clean the surrounding grounds lovely, birdlife great, and so convenient to the gates, when you are on a short stay (folk from the UK are always pushed for time) Lovely Lovely time had by us all, am coming back again in March, another short stay!!! looking so forward to it Thanks to all.

Ive got a 4x4 and had to travel very slow at some areas. Nicely appointed accommodation however cleanliness not up to scratch; unemptied bathroom bin upon arrival; bathroom basin had toothpaste from previous occupants; staff only "tidied" beds, no other evidence of activity- ledges and windows were filthy- dust and mosquitoes; pillowcases found in a place where they must have disappeared from your inventory...please view our comments as positive and work with the staff to accomplish only good comments. Morning. Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to give feedback. I suggest that customers are clearly informed about conservation fees when they book their stay at KNP. At other resorts the fee paid for the camping spot is the only fee, and therefore the conservation fee was unplanned money out of our pockets. Otherwise our stay was very pleasant except for the drunk drivers near the swimming pool for daily visitors who sped past us and almost hit the Kudus we were looking at. They also through a beer bottle out of their car and hooted for a woman who was taking a photo of a crocodile on a narrow bridge. They were clearly only at KNP to make use of the swimming pool and not to view the beautiful nature scenes.

I have not been to the southern part of the park for about 20 years and was extremely disappointed about the deterioration of the restaurants.Food on menu not available/neatness of waiters/hygiene/condition of menus (burnt). To comments from other people(waitress - I don't no what is going on, everything is going down!(Berg en Dal). 2nd comment by a black South African man to a black American lady who complained about the flies in the green salad!(Skukusa). Welcome to Africa ma'am. We are busy destroying one of our best assets and chasing the tourists away.The tidiness/neatness of the gardens as I can remember has also deteriorated. Shame on Parks board. What is your plan of action. I need to agree with the waitress - everything is going down.Please save this wonderful asset.

Thank you, I have been meaning to write since our return. Our trip this year was a huge disappointment in fact it was a disgrace. There was no electricity for the entire duration of our stay which was a Friday to a Monday, which meant we had no stove to cook on, no hot water to shower with and obviously absolutely no light. My food went off and I had to throw away so much meat, milk and salad things. The manager did not send us a note apologising or explaining the situation, not even a candle or a match was to be found in the camp. The staff were also absolutely unapologetic, lethargic and unfortunately slack. I really hope something is going to be done and my mail is going to be taken seriously. We also subsequently heard that the generator was broken. Regards

The accommodation in this camp is top notch and the best by far - it had everything we needed cutlery, crockery and a beautiful view. On arrival I checked in and sat down at the restaurant for lunch by the end of the meal we could not pay as the electricity was out - we had to return later to pay, I do not like carrying cash on me as I have been mugged numerous times - with the power being out this meant I could only pay my conservation fees the next day and on arrival at our bungalow there was no electricity. The staff could not indicate how long the outage could last and they closed the shop during outages. The power continued to go on and off throughout the day and partly through the night. One thing I can say is the staff were very helpful in making everyone comfortable and are very friendly. This part of the park is very dry so it is quite a challenge to find animals but when you do finally see them it i s definitely worth it - we saw most of the bigger animals down this side of the park.

The booking system is excellent and is 50 million miles ahead of the former useless system that Kruger used to use. The overall Kruger Park experience was most positive for myself and my overseas guest, from the initial booking process, to the friendly & helpful gate guards at Malalane gate, to the check-in and restaurant and service staff at the bungalow at Berg en Dal, to the staff serving our final meal at Skukuza.

One concern that there is signs in the bathrooms asking to use water sparingly as its a precious resource but during our 2 night stay the cleaning staff used the hoses to wash down the surrounding area and patio and also left it running unnecessarily. I also noticed that the fire hydrants were being used for general water use.No dustbins in sight around the look out points in front on the restaurant and shop, lots of cigarette stubs laying around.

When we had made enquiries at the desk staff sitting at a back desk answered our questions but never once made an effort to get off their seats to come to the front desk and help us. We had a very enjoyable week. I have been visiting the KNP since 1949- Skukuza had only about 10 rondavels- a tiny shop and 100's of round Bell tents! Game was plentiful. We had to go to Satara to see Elephants. Now they are ruining the park. Please don't listen to the "bleeding hearts". Do culling wisely or we are facing a ecological disaster. At berg and Dal the devastation is shocking! Good luck and we will always be FRIENDS OF THE KNP.

The bungalow at Berg en Dal was nice, but there are no bowls for a salad so we had to use a plate. Also one of the wine glasses was cracked. There's also no notice showing how the stove top works so it took us a while to figure out that there's a switch UNDERNEATH! But otherwise clean and neat. Thank you.

I asked for an extra bed on my booking, when I arrived they new nothing about it and we got a mattress to use, several items of cutlery and plates were missing, the unit was never cleaned properly and it seem as if, if something is broken let's not fix it. I feel the Kruger park rest camps are going down hill fast.

Excellent service from my booking till I left Kruger at Malelane gate. I took my three grand daughters with and what a pleasure with the facilities at Berg en Dal. I want to reserve family unit in advance for next year 1 October to the 6 October. Congratulations on the "nice" and excellent professional staff of Kruger.

We would not go back to Berg en Dal. The accommodation was cramped and we had one booking -three families together but they did not give us units together - we were spread all over the camp which is big!! We were sharing food and cooking duties so this made our 4 nights problematic! My husband also fell by accident coming out of the restaurant and whilst staff did get ice they were less than interested. He has since had to have surgery to the foot.

Game viewing proved to be a highlight this time round. Saw big five within 2 days and then in last 2 hours of an afternoon drive saw all five again!Service at reception very slow. Very little customer relations - social talking on phone whilst dealing with clients.Family cottage very comfortable but will request one closer to perimeter fence next time round(if available). Many thanks for your assistance.

The unit was very neat and tidy, the only things that was not up to standard was the kitchen equipment- the toaster was falling apart, and pots rusted in the inside. But we made the best of it and enjoyed our stay! Thank you!

We stayed at three different camps, namely Berg-en-Dal, Satara and Mopani. At all three camps the staff was very friendly and courteous. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. Saw plenty of game, except leopard and wild dog. Can't wait to return!

We had the most amazing time, except please inform first timers that the camping ground is very hard, you need a drill. Campsite price is very good, but if you have to buy food it is completely over priced. Would like to go again.

Wow, it was great to be back in the Kruger - I have not come for years. It was an exceptional experience again. I love the wide wild spaces, warm weather, friendly people (both staff and fellow guests), and the facilities were great. It helped that we were very lucky with our sightings, and that my two small kids were in awe of the place.Coming back soon, only thing I will change is that I am going to stay a lot longer. Thanks to all at the Kruger for a wonderful job of looking after our South African treasure! You do us all proud.

The only drawback was the unfriendliness of the staff, especially at Lower Sabie. Otherwise Excellent. The guide on the Sunset drive at Crocodile bridge were very knowledgeable.

Most of the staff were very amenable and helpful. It was just a shame when we arrived at our accommodation that two staff members were lounging around in the braai area, one sleeping, and it took them a while to move so we could get into our accommodation.

The bathroom wasn't all that clean. Bathroom light was not working properly. What about a small microwave oven in the kitchen, nothing fancy just small enough to heat food. Was shocked to see how people speed on the roads. Enforcement especially at 4 pm when officials head home. Dirt roads needs some maintenance.

We had a superb chalet on the fence, so saw buck etc just from the verandah. Staff extremely friendly at check-in and the whole booking and registration system worked fantastically. It was a pleasure to have a Wild Card too. Birdlife was amazing, and all in all were were so impressed. Had not been to KNP for a number of years, and were very impressed with the comprehensive shops that are now in place.

Service levels fine. Camping accommodation fine. BUT ?Dirty bathrooms at Berg en dal camping. Showers not scrubbed. Please don't be blind. A world class park with this?! Unacceptable the plastic rubbish along the Rhino trail on other side of fence. Unacceptable! Where is the camp manager?!

Overall experience was really good. Please look at your camp bathroom facilities. We had international guests with us and they did comment on the bathrooms, it's due for an upgrade.

Guest House was excellent, dinner buffet in the Restaurant was good, the morning drive was below average (very very cold and too early, only two rhinos seen!) Lunch at Lower Sabie restaurant was terrible and took too long. I took 4 European visitors and they love the experience! Well done!

We have just spent 4 wonderful days in the Kruger.When visiting any National Park one always wants to see as much as possible.We were truly blessed during these 4 days. We not only saw a variety of animals but in quantities as well. The majority of our sightings were on the main road (tarred road) between Berg-en-Dal and Skukuza. This included lions, hyena, a Southern Ground Hornbill and a pair of Secretary birds. Perhaps we were fortunate that the grass was not very high.It just goes to show that it is not always necessary to travel on the gravel roads and a visitor does not need a 4 by 4 to seen animals.

A well managed camp with remarkable game viewing at the dam in front of the camp. With more water in the dam than at our previous visits we saw 11 species of game in one day just standing at the fence by the dam. The elephant especially gave us a stunning display of habits and even rolling in the mud. The restaurant offers good food and value for money. Game viewing was good with plenty of buffalo and rhino too. The road up to the dam is in poor condition but I am sure it will be better as soon as it is graded again.

1.Water flow irregular and poor in ablution block showers and almost no warm water. It becomes cold when I was soaped and then stopped running altogether. Both nights were without change. 2.The desk personnel are not well informed regarding the wild card or struggle to communicate the correct information towards the customer. The staff is friendly though and the rest of the setup pleasant and clean.

The Berg-en-Dal rest camp is probably one of KP's best camps in that the chalets are of a very nice size with all amenities one requires & for its quietness. Most chalets face the fence near the river which are great for game viewing from each chalet. A nice walk can be taken in around the rest camp within the perimeter fence which is nice for game viewing and bird watching. A very nice and well stocked shop and nice restaurants with a deck which overlooks the dam. Would definitely go back to Berg-en-Dal.

The Kruger Park itself is wonderful - the camp accommodation has deteriorated with basic utensils not being found in the kitchen.We were extremely lucky with the game we saw but just being in the park is an experience in itself. Seeing so much game was just an added bonus.

We were most disappointed with the attitude of the staff in the Park. They are unfriendly, disinterested and rude,at Skukuza we were highly embarrassed at the way the staff at the tills were treating overseas visitors.We have just returned from Victoria Falls and Chobe in Botswana, the staff at the resorts in Zimbabwe and Botswana are fantastic, they are friendly, helpful, happy and do not have the arrogant attitude of their South African counterparts.We were also disappointed at the grubby appearance of the accommodation. The facilities are also poorly equipped and not up to international standards. Come on National Parks you can do better than this. Tourism is our greatest natural asset and you are systematically destroying it!

It was a wonderful experience. One can see so much without even leaving the camp to travel. The dam next to the camp is alive with action. We saw two kills within five minutes from each other. Since it is granite country, the gravel is hard - be prepared with a hammer and strong pegs.

It is a breathtaking experience. We are planning our next trip to the Northern part for next year already. The only thing they can have a look at is to build some extra toilet facilities between the camps. Because if you drive from berg en dal to lower sabie theirs nothing untill lower sabie or crocodile. And one or to hides with it to go and enjoy a peaceful afternoon and watch the animals coming to drink at a waterhole. Other than that, we enjoyed it extremely.

The baboons were a nightmare in the camp. Ripped our tent open 2 days in a row to see if there was any food inside and when reported to the office we were told the they can't do anything about it. We were not the only people suffering a loss due to the baboons that jumped the fences. There were another 5 campers that we know of that suffered losses due to the baboons. Surely they can make a plan as it was the same 3 baboons doing the damage. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay in the whole of the park and was impressed by the tidyness of the KNPin general. We will return!!!

The Kruger Park really seem to have upped their game (no pun intended) from the last time we visited. The staff was helpful, professional and overall well trained. As far as the accommodation was concerned it was really clean and neat. Ons was onlangs vir twee weke in Berg-en-Dal wat 'n belewenis was - behalwe vir die badkamer geriewe. Ek het 'n seuntjie van amper 4 en 'n dogtertjie van 1jr. Daar is net 1 bad en 3 storte vir seker 25 staanplekke. Die kamp was deurentyd redelik vol en daar het gereeld toue gestaan vir die bad en storte. Wat my grootste probleem was, was dat die spasie in die bakhokkie baie klein is en daar is ook nie 'n blad waarop ek veral my dogtertjie kon aantrek nie. Ek het rugprobleme en boonop moes ek heeltyd op my kniee/hurke gaan om haar te versorg - op die grond. Ek voel net dat die spasie groter moet wees asook geriewe om 'n baba te versorg. Daar was baie ma's wat veral oor die probleem gekla het. Verder is die storthokkies ook baie klein en die stortgordyn is nie voldoende om te keer dat jou klere en ander goed nat word nie. My bejaarde ouers het saam ons gekamp. My moeder loop baie stadig en met 'n kierie. Aan die onderkant van die badkamers - aan die pad se kant - is GEEN beligting nie en die grond tot by die ingang van die badkamer is vol klippe en baie ongelyk. Ek voel daar moet voldoende beligting wees asook dat die ingang eerder aan die onderkant van die gebou by die pad moet wees. Bogenoemde "probleme" het die toegang tot die badkamer vir my moeder baie bemoeilik. Ek wil net noem dat as ek en my man alleen was, was dit 'n ander saak. Maar daar is gereeld besoekers met klein kindertjies en bejaardes en dan is die geriewe nie na wense en maklik begaanbaar vir hulle nie. Ons was in die 2 weke by ander kampe aan en glo my die geriewe daar is BAIE meer toeganklik en geriefliker vir ALLE gebruikers.Verder het ons 'n lekker tyd in die wildtuin gehad.Groete.

All was great except the food! The overseas tourists are the ones entering the park and eating at your restaurants. I personally got food poisoning from eating in one of your restaurants. Whoever the company is that is supplying that food is ripping the KNP off! Where is the old fashioned 3 course meal we used to get in the park? What a pity this is no more. Why not get one of our SA franchises (or many) to supply the food. Nandos would be great!

Never have we seen so many buffalo and hyenas! Campsite was lovely! Room was great! 1st time at this campsite, but sadly, not enough toilets close to Berg-en-dal roads! Also, not many road options for viewing game. Otherwise, preferred the physical rest camp to our usual Skukuza!

The gas station needs to be ready to accept US credit cards, which they are not. This was a Master Card and they system at the station would not accept it which met that I had to spent one hour getting the front office to call the Africa credit card office before it was accepted. All other African gas stations accepted it.

Die resturant is 'n teleurstelling, die kos was van swak gehalte en baie duur. R76.50 vir 'n Bacon % Cheese Burger met chips en dan is die chips heeltemal te min en die patty is van soymince gemaak!!! Wat het van die teelepels geword? dis baie moeilik om jou koffie met 'n plastiek eetlepel te roer!!!!!! Maar die staf is baie vriendelik en hulpvaardig en die diens baie goed.

Service from receptions extremely slow. Seeing that you have booked and paid everything in advance. I suggest you arrange a separate reception point for tourists with queries or renewing their wildcards. That has caused long queues. The average time to book in (from standing in the queue to getting the key) was 40 min.

The accommodation was adequate but I was surprised for the price I paid that some of the little hygiene and presentation details were overlooked. The reserve itself is looking good and all the camps well looked after, toilets in good condition. Some more hides like Lake Panic would be well received, it s a long day in the car with very few safe stops.

Our stay at Berg-en-dal was absolutely fantastic. We were particularly impressed with the cleanliness of the entire camp and the friendliness of the camp officials. We haven't been to the Kruger Park for a number of years and we were pleased to see that the high standards of maintenance and service have been maintained.Booking through safari.com was so easy and efficient, I shall be using this method again. Upon arrival the front desk was extremely friendly in the bungalow what a different story. Extremely dirty utensils my wife had to wash every thing from scratch. Called the 24hour emergency nr no answer went to reception called the camp manager, full of apologies promises to give us our money back and come and see us the following morning we are still waiting. Saturday morning the cleaner came in more interested in the left overs from other bungalows than to do her work. We had to call her back to finish. Left on Saturday, no one can stay in such filth .called the manager his words was "wel sir this is africa"IS THIS THE WAY ALL OF OUR OVERSEAS CUSTOMERS HAVE TO STAY We are still waiting for the refund the manager promised us

Wow, what fantastic service this is! From the time of booking to right this minute the whole trip was absolutely fabulous. Berg-en-Dal was great and comfortable and beautifully laid out so that we felt as though we were still out in the bush. We saw lots and lots of animals, I think they all came out to say Hi to my grandson, 15 years old, first time in the bush and absolutely loved every minute.I have only one small criticism and that was the Sunset Drive. Our driver was very well informed and very friendly but he undertook to travel too far and so drove too quickly. It just became a drive through the night trying to keep as warm as possible. It would be much better to cover less distance and actually see some game.But we had a wonderful trip and will definitely be back. Dianna

Our stay in the Berg-en-Dal camp was very enjoyable. The bungalow was neat and clean, the staff was friendly and helpful. The only problem that we had in the bungalow was that the kitchen sink was blocked, but that was cleared up the next day.If they can just open all the tills in the shop during peak hours, it would be much appreciated.

Our chalet was great and close to the fence just a pity that we had the noise from the campsite. Kettle was broken but replaced and when we used both hotplates with kettle the electricity would drop. Overall good clean bedding, and kitchen and lots of animals. I would suggest supplying another salad bowl as I had only one for fruitsalad and the green salad had to go into a cooking pot. A colander is always useful too when self catering.

We had problems with the baboons in the rest camp, although we locked all our food in the trailer away. Only the fridge and freezer were in the tent. We closed the fridge with a rope but not the freezer. The baboons came into our tent and opened the freezer and took some food out there. They tore our tent when they could not get out of the tent. We wrote the complain in the complain book at reception. We read all the pamphlets and tried to make the food unreachable for the baboons but they are far more clever than we thought.

Enjoyed the privacy and spacious houses. Pity about the "dik-bek" cleaner, although someone else came on the last day, which was much more friendly. The lady that served us in the restaurant was also extremely unfriendly. The drains were blocked, but after reporting, it was quickly attended to. Kitchen is nicely stocked with utensils.

Berg en Dal is a great camp and LeRoux a wonderful facility when guests are part of the stay. HOWEVER the unit although very comfortable is in need of some updating and a little more care would see it being restored to first class status.Saw loads of game which was wonderful for our guests again HOWEVER some of the dirt roads were very badly corrugated and quite unpleasant - I found the posted excuse in many areas very lame.Overall a wonderful experience again!

We did not really know what to expect at Berg-en-dal restcamp, but were pleasantly surprised. We stayed in two family cottages, which were comfortable, clean and well-stocked with all essentials. The camp is well-maintained. We can recommend this camp highly.

They really were a menace. Stole food off our table in our presence and broke into a neigbour's caravan, although it was locked. they tore the gauze top and got in. This is something that needs serious attention.

He hardly explained, and when we said goodbye I had to repeat myself twice before he condescended to answer. Obviously he is not responsible for the little we saw, but he could have told us about the night animals we saw and also the ones we did not see. It was a miserable experience and we couldn't wait to get back to the camp. There was a shortage of guides that night possibly due to the soccer game which perhaps he resented missing!

As always the stay and nature scenes are above expectation. Some troublesome observations was the speed wich the park officials/personel travel in their vehicles in the park itself. This was a daily observation with many KNP vehicles, amongst other passing us while we were traveling at 40Kph dirt roads and 50 on tarred surfaces. One other thing that is the Mens showers at Berg en Dal campsite that`s terrible whilst showering with alternating between hot and cold water? Other than that it`s always a pleasure visiting.Thank you

The bungalows are really chalets, and are much better than the typical "rondavels" of the rest of the park. Service generally is not what one would describe as fast, but it is pleasant and one is not in a rush, so all good.Good game spotting area.

My family and I were extremely impressed with the accommodation, facilities and surroundings of Berg-en-dal Restcamp. Indeed, everyone there was very helpful, friendly and good-humoured. It is definitely a place to which we will return! My only criticism is that there is no pensioner price for the conservation fee for overseas visitors!

Furthermore, the vervet monkeys were very intrusive and a safety risk to our children.Overall, we had a lovely time! We enjoyed the tranquility and nature and got the rest we really needed- thank you!

On arrival we realised that the power point was not fit for a normal 3 point plug, except of having a caravan plug, so it would be advisable to inform people camping by tent to obtain a caravan plug. Because we had to sleep in the vehicle the first night, because we couldn't set up the tent in the dark.

We found the bathrooms to be dirty. The checklist had not been signed for weeks and an earlier comment about the bathrooms being filthy had not been followed up. The general camp has a derelict air about it. Hot water in the showers were pathetic. Also the picnic spots all seem to be going backward. this I have been noticing over a couple of years now. The Nkuthlu and Afsaal picnic spots in particular. These sites are very busy and not looked after. Shops have no stock.

I organised a boy's only weekend at Berg en Dal with some of my grandsons and their fathers. Great fun was had by all. The park is looking good and the standard is high, as usual. The service at the BnD cafetaria was considerably faster than last year, a point on which I complained about last time. Thanks for the improvement. The only problem this time is that there was only one official processing entries into the park at Malelane gate on the Friday evening, which is probably a peak time, and it took us 15 minutes to get through.

Accommodation was brilliant and I would like to stay there again next year. All over the Kruger where we ate at Olifants Camp, Satara, Skukuza, Lower Sabie, Pretoriuskop and Berg en Dal, the food was beyond pathetic. It was an embarrassment as a South African to think we will expose foreign tourists to such bad food. Skukuza and Lower Sabie was the ultimate in bad experiences for us. I would suggest close down all the restaurants and go out on tender to allow franchises to run the fast food and restaurant sections. They will be out to make money. I am not of the opinion of what I have seen, that the aim of the restaurants in the Kruger are to make a profit. The costs are expensive for poor quality and I emphasise poor quality. The presentation as well as the preparation is poor. The last night we did not want to braai and we decided against eating in the restaurant as we knew the experience would have been bad. It is a pitty. I think nobody has a problem to pay for good quality and good service. At Satara the service was really bad. On both occasions I went there to eat something, I had to go and look for a waiter to come and take my order. I saw several other tables experiencing the same problem on both occasions.

It was an embarrassment as a South African to think we will expose foreign tourists to such bad food. Skukuza and Lower Sabie was the ultimate in bad experiences for us. I would suggest close down all the restaurants and go out on tender to allow franchises to run the fast food and restaurant sections. They will be out to make money. I am not of the opinion of what I have seen, that the aim of the restaurants in the Kruger are to make a profit. The costs are expensive for poor quality and I emphasise poor quality. The presentation as well as the preparation is poor. The last night we did not want to braai and we decided against eating in the restaurant as we knew the experience would have been bad. It is a pitty. I think nobody has a problem to pay for good quality and good service. At Satara the service was really bad. On both occasions I went there to eat something, I had to go and look for a waiter to come and take my order. I saw several other tables experiencing the same problem on both occasions.

Camped for 8 days in Berg-en-Dal and enjoyed every minute of it. Saw lots of animals. Bathrooms spotless. Cannot wait to go again.

We have been away from SA for many years now and we used the KNP trip to catch up with our family. We found the KNP to be as exciting as we can remember. The staff were friendly and helpful, the accommodation was great and everything went extremely smoothly. Although we never saw any lion, our sightings of the other animals were terrific. The park is looking good and we were pleased to see many rhinos, in spite of the media coverage regarding poaching. We will definitely be back.Thank you to all at KNP for a great visit.

Al het ons nie die groot 5 almal gesien nie, is die rustigheid en die natuur baie lekker. Om die wild in hulle natuurlike staat te sien is wonderlik. Berg en dal kamp was netjies en gerieflik en skoon. Net een klagte, die geskenke se pryse vir Suid Afrikaners is te hoog. Daar moet aan 'n afslag vir ons gedink word. Baie dankie hou die wildtuin se naam hoog.

If you want to get away from the "wild animals" who live in the city, get to the Kruger Park for some peace and tranquility. It was the first time for us to stay at the Berg en Dal camp site, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I would say that it will become one of our favourite camp sites in the Kruger, the other being Letaba. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It would be nicer if the the caravan sites were grassed of course, but that would be a minor complaint.Hope to you see you all soon again.

We had a great camping site right next to the fence and we experienced the sights and sounds one can only really appreciate in the Kruger. There really is no place else where that can happen! Stayed for a night in Berg-en-Dal before moving on to the Bushman Camp for 2 1/2 days of bush walking. Close encounters with rhino (after 15 minutes on the first day!) elephant and buffalo with lots of other buck including kudu. Many birds. Fantastic experience which was enhanced by guide Nicol Coetzee and his team who shared their knowledge and passion. Much better than driving around in a vehicle.

As we did both sunrise and sunset drives both 3hr each as well as our own drive for 3 hours this left little energy to make our own food so the resturants would have been much appreciated should the food have been at least edible.
