Satara Rest Camp
A SANParks self-catering camp.
Legend suggests that, Satara Restcamp owes its name to an old map drawn up by an anonymous Indian surveyor who. The surveyor marked the area that is present-day Satara with the Hindi word 'satra', which means 17. Satara camp is known as one of the best location for wildlife viewing, including the Big Five.
We do not take rest camp bookings. Camps are booked directly with SANParks, where current tariffs are published.

About Satara Rest Camp.
Accommodation
- Tent or caravan camp sites: Site allow access to electrical power points, communal bathrooms and kitchen facilities. Please ensure to provide your own tent and camping equipment, caravan or motor home. Maximum of 6 people per site.
- Bungalows: Two or three-bed configurations with own private bathrooms are available. Select bungalows have a kitchens while all bungalows have air-conditioning. Each bungalow is equipped with a fridge. A few of the bungalows are located near to the perimeter of the camp.
- Guest Cottages: Five-bed and six-bed cottages. These cottages typically feature multiple bedrooms and bathrooms.
- Guest Houses: The guest houses are large, luxury units in prime positions around the camp. They are able to accommodate up to 10 guests, with all guest houses featuring kitchens.
Activities & Facilities
Satara Camp offers thrilling adventure, including guided bush walks and game drives, led by experts trackers and guides. Important to note, children under the age of six years old are not permitted on the safari game vehicle unless the stipulated otherwise by the expert guides. Children under the age of twelve years old are restricted from guided bush walks.
Camp facilities include, a reception area, a restaurant, deli, shop, laundromat, filling station, communal kitchens and bathrooms, basic on-site first-aid assistance, cutlery and plate hampers available for hire from reception at an additional cost, a day visitor picnic area with a boma on the perimeter of the camp, an eco information centre and amphitheatre, a swimming pool with a children's playground. We do not take rest camp bookings. What our safari specialists do arrange is the private reserves of the Greater Kruger: private lodges where expert guiding, meals and game drives are included, and nothing is left to the camp kitchen. We look after international travellers and SADC residents alike, and many lodges offer reduced SADC rates.
