Letaba Rest Camp falls under the shady gaze of the tall Sycamore Fig, Natal Mahogany, Apple Leaf, and Sausage Trees that surround the banks of the sweeping Letaba River. It owes much of its character to the arresting setting of the riverine oasis in which it is set. Situated centrally, at the junction of the three main roads of the Kruger Park, the camp is a prime location from which to explore the park. Aloe and Impala Lilly attract a range of indigenous birds and fleck the campgrounds with colour. The abundance of greenery at the camp means it does anything but live up to the meaning of its name - the "river of sand", which is an excellent location for game viewing.
We do not take rest camp bookings. Camps are booked directly with SANParks, where current tariffs are published.
The camp
Letaba Camp offers adventure in the form of guided bushwalks and safari game drives, all under the supervision of well informed andkeen professional field guides. Important to note : children under the age of six years old are not permitted on the safari game vehicle and children under the age of twelve years old are restricted from guided bushwalks.
The Letaba Elephant Hall museum houses the enormous tusks of the ‘Magnificent Seven’ – the seven greatest elephants ever to roam the Kruger National Park, and much more.
Facilities at the camp include: Information at the reception area, public telephones, post box, restaurant, shop, laundromat, filling station, communal kitchens and bathrooms, basic on-site first-aid assistance, public swimming pool, day-visitor picnic area, cutlery and plate hampers for hire at reception(additional cost), cellphone reception.
The luxury alternative
We do not take rest camp bookings. What our safari specialists do arrange is the private reserves of the Greater Kruger: private lodges where expert guiding, meals and game drives are included, and nothing is left to the camp kitchen. We look after international travellers and SADC residents alike, and many lodges offer reduced SADC rates.

After an absence of 20 years, Letaba Camp is still as wonderful as ever. So calm and peaceful with all the wonderful huge trees, and welcoming little bushbucks, squirrels and vervets. The beds/mattresses have been upgraded (5*). It is still beautifully kept. For me the one slight blur is Mugg and Bean - they are excellent for breakfast, but I miss the more traditional South African dinner menu.

Letaba rest camp is great value for money. The camp is neat and clean, but the whole place could do with a revamp. Still looks the same as it did 30 years ago. The museum and the restaurant are lovely

Our cottage was spacious and comfortable. The maid service was very good. The microwave unit worked but we never found out how to operate it easily and never managed to operate the oven, some instructions are needed.

First time staying at Letaba and it was wonderful.Situated overlooking a bend in the Letaba River the view is amazing.On arrival we had lunch at the M&B there which was a very nice experience (like all M&Bs;) - more memorable because there were elephants grazing in the mostly dry river bed.The camp is very well run and check in was fast and efficient. The accommodation was very nice and clean with an amazing view over the river bed. From here you could see all sorts of game from elephant to hyena coming and going. There are bushbuck living inside the camp which is nice to wake up to.There is also a very interesting Elephant Museum in the park.Overall: Letaba should be on everyone's itinerary.

We were welcomed warmly at Phalaborwa gate and were processed in less than 10 minutes. At Letaba rest camp the experience was the same. The camp site was just what we wanted and fulfilled all of our requirements. The whole holiday was most enjoyable for all of us we will go again when we can.

Very clean, shop staff extremely friendly, one of the better camps I have stayed at. The duty manager also did his rounds to find out if we were happy. This camp offers so much for the children.

We loved our stay at Letaba. The rondavel bungalow was comfortable and well-equipped. The two-bedroomed cottage that our guests stayed in was to be recommended, they loved it - an excellent view, spacious and comfortable rooms. Perfect for a full week's holiday!

This camp was also very comfortable, staff friendly and extremely helpful. The ablution facilities were spotless and the camp sites clean with enough electrical power points. The camp shop was also very well stocked and staff helpful. We also had wonderful game viewings from this camp.

I travel through Kruger twice a year and this was my first stay in Letaba. We entered Kruger through the Giryondu gate and managed to get a full days searching for a animals done. The accommodation and park experience never disappoint and I'll be back in October when I bring another team from the uk to work on our projects in Mozambique.

We spent 4 nights at Letaba rest camp in Kruger Park and loved it. The camp is very well run and the facilities are good. It is beautifully situated above the Letaba River which enables one to see game and wonderful birds without leaving the camp. The restaurant was good too.

5 Star ACCOMMODATION excellent meals served at M & B with friendly Staff Cottage well equipped and clean. Best views to the River. QUIET surrounded by trees and plenty of feathered friends. Evening braai's with the sound of Lions and Hyenas . From our cottage we spotted Elephant, Hippo, Crocodiles, Kudu, Lions, Baboons , Waterbuck, (Bushbuck roaming among us) Giraffe, African Fish Eagle. Highlight was a drive towards Satara and spotting a Leopard with cubs and Rhino. Well done to the Management and Staff for sustaining and maintaining the KNPark 5 STAR!!!

5 Star accommodation, quiet, best views of Olifants River, where we could spot Lions, Hippos, Elephants, Crocodiles, Kudus, Buffalo's,Waterbuck, Fish Eagles and plenty of birds. If you sit at the river with patience long enough you will spot most K N P Game. Delicious meals at Mugg and Bean with exellent views of the river! Highlight was driving towards Satara and seeing couple of Rhinos and most exciting was seeing a Leopard with her cubs. We are capable of having breaks to any part of the world, however, the Kruger National Park, is still the number one destination for all our family. Well done to the Management and Staff for their endeavours to keep the KNPark 5 Star!!!

Very Happy to see that the park in itself is well maintained. Good child hood memories of the Kruger Park all came back on our visit. We love the Krugerpark.Booking system is very good and was very easy to make the booking.Not to Happy about Mugg & Bean Restaurants at most camps. Looks beautiful but takes a bit away the authenticity of the Kruger Park - in the middle of the bush, seeing a M&B feels almost feels like you at the Zoo or Melville or so.We miss the famous buffalo pie & gravy which was always a hit.Never the less, we will return to the park soon.Well done!!

Well once again KP didn't disappoint, as usual the camp staff were friendly as ever, clean and neat at all times. We have stayed at Shingwezi,Letaba,Punda our next visit will be to Satara or even maybe back to Letaba as it is nice and central. There is nothing bad to say at all our experiences we have are always good from the time we get there to the time we leave, just wish we could have stayed longer. We had family with us from Dubai and they have never been to the Park and were really amazed at the park. Thanks again and cant wait to be back.

Bungalow was lovely, clean and in a quiet area at Letaba Restcamp. With Mugg and Bean restaurants now in all the camps has been absolutely devine, lovely to sit in the restaurant overlooking the beautiful view of the rivers, especially after a long game drive- a huge improvement. You do South Africa proud, thank you.

We really had an awesome time in the Kruger National Park. We were lucky to see the a lot of animals including the big five. The tuck shop's staff were helpful and friendly at all the camps. The restrooms at all the camps were also neat and clean. The stay at Letaba camp was also very nice. Room service was great - the only thing we really would have appreciated was for the room service to wash the dishes and put it back in the cupboards - they only washed it and then left it on the dry rack. We also completed the "quick fix" note indicating that the stove is tripping the electricity. The note was taken by room service but no one attended to the complaint - so we could only use one stove plate during our stay. Nevertheless - we enjoyed our stay and will visit the Park again.

It was the 1st night my son and I were sleeping over in kruger park. We (my family, friends and I) usually do a day visit, and since our other home is in phalaborwa, 15 minutes drive to phalaborwa gate. From now on I want to sleep over since it was such a memorable experience. My room was clean with all the necessary utensils. My son enjoyed the breakfast at the Mug&Bean; restaurant and lunch at Debonairs pizza.

Letaba was the best kept camp we stayed in, except for a dead bulb in the hut that was not replaced, and the important lock on the door of the cupboard on the stoep were broken. The communal bathrooms were excellent, clean and very well furnished.

Letaba as always is a beautiful camp although game is scarce due to mopani forests had a wonderful time enjoyed the pool facilities and especially the friendliness of the staff. Gardens and grass need some work but can imagine that flooding and heavy rains made maintenance difficult.Again thank you for the wonderful experience we will most definitely be visiting again.

Letaba rest camp was beautiful. The bungalow had everything we needed and was spotless. The only negative was that the ranger's dogs barked through the night and thus we couldn't hear any animal noises... We will definetly visit the camp again. Maybe just further away from the staff accomodation next time.

I was most impressed with the way in which Letaba catered for the elderly. My aunt of 96 managed very well because of the seat and railings in the bathroom. Thank you. The beds were comfortable and we were given almost all the necessities (except a potato peeler). A vast improvement since the last time I went to the Kruger Park. The only real issue was the trickle of water in the shower.

We enjoyed it so much,we decided in future to rather stay in the park than at the lodges or hotels we have stayed at that you find around the park. It was cleaner for one. The atmosphere is nicer and more relaxed. The food were great.

Disappointed in chalet.....only 2 x saucepans, no toaster, very limited culinary equipment. Price comparison this is not good. We go often and stay at different camps & Bushveld camps. For R950pn this not value. Not acceptable.The Park and everything else is great. This was our 2nd visit to the park this year and we have 2 more coming June and October. But NOT at Letaba.

We were very satisfied. We were just horrified at the thorny weeds in the grass everywhere. The children could not play on the grass and the thorns were picked up with our shoes and sticking in all the carpets and in the car. It is a real problem that should be sorted out.

Once again, good camp. Only problem, we booked night safari for 7.30 but so had 36 others and the truck only seated 21? Had to wait till 8.45 but by then it was pouring down. I would still heartily recommend you staying IN the park when visiting Kruger rather than day trips. SAN parks are brilliant when it comes to advice and sorted out our itinerary etc.

Our Stay at Letaba was wonderful just as it always is, the bush babies and bush buck makes the experience just that much special. The only thing that worried me was the bugs in the beds which has never happened to us all the other times that we stayed in the Kruger, otherwise everything else was great. cant wait to visit again.

It was a great 3 days in the park. On one day below Satara on the S100 we saw 2 leopards and a cheetah. The cheetah was trying to run down a kudu. The accommodations were very nice - especially at Letaba. The food at Mopani was excellent. As usual the staff was courteous and helpful throughout the park.

I experienced a very enjoyable holiday at Letaba. The team that did the reservation is very professional and on the ball. The camp is lovely and I will recommend it to anyone.However, the Letaba resident game rangers were terrible! There names are Oscar and Cecilia. The two of them have got a terrible attitude, like they are doing the guests a favour by taking us on a game drive as they would rather be doing something else. No information came from them regarding nature, game, etc. For example, we drove past a herd of Zebras, Oscars comment was Zebra, that was it, he did not even stop for us to look at them.I also got the impression that they do not have information to give to the guests. I overheard other guest speaking amongst each other complaining about the same thing, their comment was "the game ranger does not know anything but expects a fat tip!"I have had bush experiences in the past and the game rangers were very pleasant and forthcoming and of course well informed.I recommend for Oscar and Cecilia to be replaced by game rangers that is qualified, have a passion for nature and animals and want to be a game ranger and above all like people.

I stayed 3 nights at Satara- camping and 2 nights at Letaba. In general we are shocked to see the facilities standard decreasing every year. The ablution blocks are dirty and not looked after, although there are cleaners on site. Is it ok for the cleaners to use the same facility's showers as the paying public? The toilets at Tshokwane were not working for at that stage over a week due to no water and a pump being broken!!! How is it possible that they cannot fix a pump in one day?? They did erect temp. toilets which are very dirty and disgusting. Overseas visitors only shook their heads and said this is Africa! On a positive note, the staff is always and everywhere very friendly and helpful, thanks for that. The animals are great.

We spent 6 nights and stayed at 4 camps, working our way down from Letaba to Satara to Pretoriuskop and Skukuza. Everything was great but the food...and a slight lack of variety in activities. Staff were mostly very friendly and helpful. Accommodation clean and well kept, even where showing its age. Morning walks are the best! You never know what you might run in to. In our case, an elephant. A frightening and exhilarating memory to last a lifetime for sure. Apparently only one camp does morning bicycle safaris, which was a disappointment to me

The facilities at the Guest Cottage at the Camp were adequate. But the bush braai we went on was delightful. We had a lovely game drive with Eric and then were taken to a clearing where we had a lovely meal and the three 'rangers' (including the chef) were very pleasant. I would recommend this.

We enjoyed our stay in Letaba however February is very hot in KP and the tents with the fan is not much help. However the rest of the facilities is good and we enjoyed visiting other camps during the day and the restaurant at Letaba in the evenings. It was a great week for me and my son and we will definitely repeat our visit later this year.

To whom it may concern,I've been coming to Kruger since I was 8 years old and have to express how disappointed I am in the overall quality of the park. The accommodation is poor. The thatch is old, the smell is musty, there is gecko poo everywhere. The chalets could really do with a refurbishment. It doesn't even look like it's been refurbished since they will built in the 70's!I certainly don't feel Kruger is worth the money anymore. What you get in a private game reserve is much more and it's cheaper!I'm also shocked at having to pay R400 conservation fee for 2 nights just because I'm 'international'. This is just sickening. If I had known I'd be charged this I wouldn't have come at all! The amount of animals in the park has gone down considerably as well. The security of the park is non existent. Why are you not searching cars before letting them into the park. No wonder you are losing more rhino to poachers! I really hope these issues are addressed somehow and you get this message across to people who actually care about conservation let alone customer service..Other than my above complaints I was received well by your staff at Letaba camp and they were very helpful. Good DayWe had a very enjoyable stay, very relaxing.The only negative points that I may bring up, and I know that this being the Christmas season and the large numbers of people coming through was more than likely the cause, however the following may help for future travelers:The bathrooms at the camp were rather dirty, cracked tiles etc., that could also have been replaced made this part of the stay less enjoyable.We went to the restaurant for breakfast the one morning, waited over 30 minutes and asked 2 waiters for service but never even had the dirty glasses from the previous occupants of the table removed, so we went and had a picnic somewhere instead, this might help improve restaurant revenue if the service were better, I have heard this complaint from other people that have visited the park recently.Overall a very enjoyable experience and we will visit again soon.RegardsStephen

Beautiful camps. However, I have expected to see animals over and above the occasional impala, giraffe and elephant. Sighting boards were not updated. When I spoke to the Park employees at Letaba reception to get some advise in spotting any type of predators or larger animals I got a reply that I must go and pray.Very bad service and interaction with guests. This was my third and last visit to Letaba.

Poorly equipped bungalow. No toaster or chopping board or serving bowls. No teapot or any dishcloths or dish soap. The standard of equipment and what they supply varied from camp to camp. We wanted to buy meat for a braai. On opening the fridge the smell was enough to put us off any desire to have a braai. In future we would bring our meat from the outside.

Overall experience was good. I was pulled over by a policeman near the Phalaborwa gate. He said my speed exceeded the posted limit. He asked me where I was from and when I would be returning. I told him I was on my way back now. He said he could issue a citation or I could just pay him a lesser amount in cash. I paid him the lesser amount and believe he "pocketed" the money. No record (citation)was issued. He just shook my hand and wished me a good day. There is likely a bit of corruption happening with law enforcement within the Park.

It was awesome to get back to the park after almost 5 years. The facilities at Letaba were great and always clean. We traveled extensively in our weeks stay going as far north as Shingwedzi and far south as Tshokwane. We saw plenty and were not disappointed. However on our exit of the Park we traveled south with the intention of going out at Malelane, this was cut short and we exited Kruger Gate due to the increase of vehicles and seeing viewers exit their vehicle to urinate on the side of the road clearly due to excessive alchol intake. We found this unacceptable behaviour close to Skukuza, and realised commercialisation is going to become a danger to the diversity of the park. The little things have to be addressed sternly. We did repremand the above law breakers only to be shrugged off.

Accommodation was fine (was glad not to have to put up our own tent) but the fridge was in a poor state, balanced as it was on a stone and still not steady. Also, we came across a dead genet having been ridden over. We feel that the trades vehicles travel with little regard for game. Apart from that we were very happy to be in the Park once again and made very good use of our Wild Cards as we stayed at Burchell's Lodge most of the time and entered the Park daily

I am a very proud South African. Tourism is the hard of RSA. The people working in the park 90%(not the youngerones) would never greet you or smile or be helpful. You can say its there culture but they are working in the window of south Africa. Please teach them that skill. I visit KZN parks a lot. The people there are so helpful and friendly. We been to the restaurant at elephant camp. Begging for service. The only time they smile is when you get your bill. In the office at Letaba there was one man that was very helpful and friendly. At the shop the young girl is an example for everyone else.

We found Letaba to be the most disappointing of the four camps we stayed at. The overall maintenance and care in the camp is very much below standard. The gardens are neglected and sorely in need of some attention. The camping area needs cleaning up, it is full of thorns and dead vegetation and weeds. The braais are few and far between and mostly unserviceable, i.e. rusted through. The swimming pool water was green and the area around the pool was shockingly neglected. The grass has not been cut for some time and the whole area is full of weeds and thorns. The umbrella and recliners are damaged. We thought that this area of the camp - sorely needed by visitors in the heat wave! - was disgraceful. Clearly there is a management problem at Letaba!

There was no electricity at Letaba from 18:00 on our day of arrival (07 Nov) until approx midnight of 08 Nov (36 hours).The staff were not concerned and actually said "This is Africa, get used to it".Our experience at Satara was 100%I will return to Kruger but never again go to Letaba - not even for a coffee.I have requested a refund from Sanparks, but I will not hold my breath.We had a German visitor to who we raved about the park, she was not impressed with the amenities or staff at Letaba either.

Me an my husband enjoyed the Park very much, Letaba is a lovely camp site, but I was a bit disappointed, nobody warned or informed me that renovations was being done to one of the ablution blocks, the only place to put up camp was near the renovations, it was noisy and far from the other ablutions, I would definitely visit the park again but not Letaba.

It was GREAT! Every thing was in place (bookings, bungalow fridge was switch on in advance, etc.) On the second day there was a problem with the electricity in the shop, so the till and lights were off (in the evening) but the staff walked the extra mile and lit some candles and did the calculations with a calculator. It took some time but every one appreciated their effort. The Kruger stays one of S.A. top destinations. We saw 4/5 big five and was lucky to see a kill (lions killed a giraffe near Olifants camp. Thank you for the good work you have done on the booking and I will definitely make use of you in the future

Did not have a dish cloth in chalet. Enjoyed the stay as always. Can not wait until next stay/visit. Want to visit other camps in reserve as well.

At first no one was recommending to camp in SA. But I can say they are wrong! Especially the campsites in Kruger were very well looked after. Clean campsite spots and showers, braai for every tent, beautiful surroundings, enough trees to put your tent in the shadow, not too crowded...

A pleasant surprise. Kruger is now well run. The camps are neat, clean and a pleasure to be in. The rondavels are well appointed and comfortable (including the mattresses). Well done Parks Board.The only downside was the restaurant in Letaba, which was at best pathetic and dirty.The food was so bad that guests were leaving in disgust without finishing their meals. We were served up rancid and bad lamb chops obvious by the smell alone without needing to taste and then vomit on the table.The manager who was more interested in his friends, one of which was sprawled across the table, deigned to enquire as to the problem and was not at all put out by bad food being served apart from the excuse of needing to defrost in the morning and the chops turning off during the day. He obviously has never heard of a refrigerator.Apart from this, .... again Well Done SA Parks Board, you can be JUSTIFIABLY PROUD.Ramsay Patmore

In all 3 restcamps my wife and I enjoy staying. The toilet facilities was above what we expected. Congratulations to all the workers for keeping our park in such a great condition, it is a well picture to our foreign visitors going back to their origin with good testomonies. Thanks again for making our stay such a big pleasure.

Again receptionists did not acknowledge us when we entered reception. Shop assistant was more helpful. Again a microwave oven was missed. The young Afrikaans lady in the Elephant Hall was most knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.We loved the camp and will certainly return.

I have stayed at the Kruger park camps since 1989 and still find them to be sufficient and clean for our needs. Even the basic lodging is always nice. Only complaint would be the lack of choices on the menu in the restaurant in the low season. Quiet in our camp and friendly staff. Will always return!Service in restaurant is quiet slow for individuals who need to get going.

In general we had a good time; the view over the river in the early morning was very nice.While leaving Letaba, we joined others watching a bunch of lions in the riverbed. And later that day lions were harassed by the buffalo's they wanted to attack.

HiIt was definitely a vacation to remember except for one problem. Our inflatable mattress got a puncture on our 1st night. So we rented a mattress from reception, where they told us our money will be fully refunded if we brought the mattress back. However on the day of our departure the manager said sorry that was the wrong info and he is only going to give us R50 back. We had no problem paying for the mattress, but he made us feel like criminals because we 're expecting our money back & he said we should have known something wasn't right(sorry but we are the tourist how are we suppose to know...)!But further it was a wonder experience and a great vacation. We also would like to give a big thanks to the game rangers Rihanna & Jacques they were very nice and helpful.We are already planning our next vacation to the Kruger and can't wait to see you all again.

Very nice experience. The booking-in procedure at Letaba could have been better. Lady did not seem overly competent or friendly. Also - the money paid over at the gate of entry did not make sense as the 3 vehicles in our group paid different tariffs and it was not quite clear what the difference in tariffs were for. But apart from that it was great. Bathrooms were clean. Camp was neat and overall the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Camp site Power and bathroom facilities had some issues... Please also note that Gas is now regulated like petrol and the Park cannot ask inflated prices.Other than this we had a great time in the Kruger park (Letaba) and will do it again.

This camp has great services available. Parking lot is a bit of a confusion but once you know where you are going it has a lot to offer. Don't miss the elephant museum! This area is becoming one of my favorites and i have been here over 5 times now.

The house is lovely (love the 4 private rooms) and the private lookout over the Letaba river is amazing.There is however need for some repair.The beautifull chairs are a bit rickety and needs to be stabelized, not all matresses are firm and the little carpets and waste baskets in the bathroom needs to be replaced, the toilets also needs attention. Very noisy campers, consuming large amounts of alcohol and disturbing the peace and tranquility that one expects to enjoy in the Park. Also feeding the hyenas walking along the fence at night. They should be black-listed and banned from the Park.

Cleaning staff unfriendly at Letaba. Reception staff OK . Maintenance staff quick to respond on a Sunday!At Olifants, all were pleasant and co-operative. Duty Managers were efficient and quick to respond to a blocked drain problem.Game drive ranger Travis was v. pleasant and informative. At Olifants Bungalow 98 had no crockery or cutlery which we were not informed about.Weather spoilt the holiday. Sies!Just noticed a separate page for Olifants, but I'm not filling it in (see above).

Thank you for offering an opportunity to pass on a few comments:Arrived at Punda gate at 08h30 on a Thursday morning. Toilets were a mess. Reported it to the lady at the desk. She did not seem over concerned. Not a good start. No big paper dust bin packet issued to each visitor. Surely this is an important deterrent to littering.General sloppiness prevailed at the Punda gate. First impressions are lasting impressions.Sorry to pass on some negative feedback. We had a fantastic camping weekend at Letaba rest camp on Sunday we packet up and decided to has a quick bite at the cafeteria before we leave. Not to say quick. It took us a half hour to get six cool drinks. Once we received that we ordered six pies chips and gravy. Twenty minutes later they told us they don't have six pies but only two. We then ordered burgers and chips. Half hour later they arrived. They were terrible. How can we serve overseas customers with kind of quality. There is no pride in the service. What happened to the good old buffalo pies and real beef burgers.

The camp is looking great, even though it was very dry. So glad to see that the bungalows are being upgraded and looking good. Exceptionally clean. The food was good at the restaurant but a little expensive for SA visitors. We ate there for 2 nights but decided a third night was a little too much.My BIG disappointment was that I am over 60 years old and was offered no discount.

Chalet was 100% and the shop was good, including the staff. As for the reception - staff attitude needs upgrading, BUT the restaurant service, quantity and quality of food was BAD. Prices of snacks leaves an almost abusing feeling: no option, currency abuse for foreigners.

After an early morning start on Saturday we returned to Letaba for an afternoon relax before going out for a sunset drive.On arrival at Letaba we found a radio station set up outside doing a outside broadcast.I was forced to listen to loud music which I would never listen to, in fact I had never even heard of the radio station in question.I am bemused as to why Kruger Park thinks this is an appropriate area to have an open area broadcast of loud irritating music which was of no relevance to probably 90% of the occupants/residents of Letaba.When I made a booking I was never informed that the would be a radio station playing loud music right outside my chalet window?In conclusion it meant I had to spoil my Saturday afternoon relax by running around trying to find the right person to deal with the situation.When I did find someone I was informed I would have to listen to the noise until 15h00.This is unacceptable -this is a rest camp in a nature environment, I should have not been subject to any loud music at all.In your own brochure it states no loud stereo noise so as not to upset other guests and animals?Your comments would be interesting?

We saw less animals than on previous visits. Not impressed with police and staff vehicles speeding along the roads obviously ferrying staff. Accommodation good. Evening meal in Lebaba restaurant okay, menu uninteresting (no venison!) service poor. Loud music playing late at night behind our bungalow (staff?).

We had a wonderful trip to Letaba and would recommend this camp as the best camp in the Kruger Park due to it's view over the Letaba River. Remember to take a torch, luckily friends helped us out. I found the conservation fees for foreigners (on top of the bungalow fee) as quite high compared to locals.

Cleanliness at the ablution blocks has seriously deteriorated. On 3 occasions the floors were so dirty that people were unable to use the facilities and on the day of arrival there was no hot water. I am a regular to the Kruger Park and have been there approximately 3 times / year for the last 30 years. Its is the 1st time that I have the inclination to complain about what used to be my favourite campsite. There is also an obvious lack of electricity distribution points as some people had to go and buy another 30m lead to access it. Disorganization in the restaurants is at an all time high. The food is also a mass produced tasteless experience and the good old pie, chips and gravy of the past have been replaced with something awful. I witnessed tourists complaining in Olifants camp and, having the same thing on my plate, was actually embarrassing.

This was my first time at Kruger park and we had an awesome time. From the booking I received very good and friendly service and at Letaba self the staff is friendly, the camping ablutions were kept in good, clean conditions. All our needs were met once in the camp sites. The atmosphere is one of peace and relaxed. We saw a lot of wild and the big 5 all in one day which was great. Overall an awesome holiday and I will definitely visit Kruger Park again.

We had an amazing experience. We had two very wealthy, well travelled Americans with us and they were absolutely delighted with the accommodation and the game viewing. They felt they had really experienced Africa 'like a local'. Thankyou for keeping the parks in such good condition, which made us proud. The only grip would be the restaurants at the camps could be improved on, but otherwise, we have already booked for next year around the same time! Hope the game viewing is just as wonderful!

Very dry riding along side the river from Letaba to Olifants camp we were blessed with a lot of game sights. The service at Satara were bad after one and a half hour they couldn't give our order.They still want to force us to pay for the food they cant deliver.

The camp is beautiful, but we were a bit disappointed to see not much wild. We drew many kilometres to see some wild we haven`t seen in Pretoriuscamp, but it was fun as well. Entered through Kruger Gate early morning on Friday.Glad to see the Big 5 and other animals. Stayed over in Letaba Camp, where the reception staff was very friendly and helpful, even at the gate as we were 15min late because of the detour on the way to Letaba. The cottage was clean and neat. Staff at the entrance gates and reception at the camp were friendly and efficient. Roads in good condition, the picnic spots and general appearance of the park still very good. The lady doing the housekeeping in hut E70 was surly and the equipment in the hut either sub-standard or non-existent, e.g. no tin opener, missing and or non-matching crockery etc. Our grandson from Berlin accompanied us on this return visit to Letaba after 15 years and apart from the housekeeping aspect we all had a good experience.

I think the park is still wonderful. The only gripes I have is the linen is old and grey and as for the restaurants they are disgusting and much to be desired. They are not what South Africans are use to and that you are feeding that to international customers you should be ashamed.

We had a wonderful stay in the park, enjoyed every moment of it! Will definitely stay over again for more than one night and to a trip with a ranger, just to see some "wild cats"!!

DID NOT LIKE THE FACT THAT THE BRAAI AREA LOOKS DIRECTLY ONTO THE BACK BUNGALOW BUT UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS DUE TO THE OLD BUILDING STRUCTURE AND KNOWS NOTHING CAN BE DONE - WOULD HAVE LIKED A BIT MORE PRIVACY.

We found the bungalows outdated, cramped and without any privacy. We stayed at the Limpopo national park in mozambique and found their accommodation far better that Krugers. Kruger needs to do a bit of a revamp for the price they charge.

Our stay in this camp was very eventfull. The night sounds was clear and there was many different sounds. The camp is amazing especially the Elephant Hall, we learnt a lot from this experience. All staff was very freindly and very helpfull. The view over the river was beautyful and there were a lot of animal activity around the river. Overall this was a very intresting visit.

We really enjoyed our stay at Letaba Rest Camp. Everything we needed was avaialbe in the Bungalow and in the shop. It was so relaxing to sit outside on the stoep and watch the fire while our food was cooking and to listen to all the sounds of the camp/park. I will definitely stay there again.

i would suggest that they start racking up the grass as the thorn trees drop their branches and makes it very difficult to walk there. they can also start watering the grass so that it can ge back to the beauty it was in the past

Fantastic trip once again to the Kruger Park, and staying in my favourite camp of Letaba just made it that much better. Facilities looked a little run down (maintenance wise) in certain areas, however it was still amazing and we will be back for sure.

I can only say that everything about the park was wonderful, we first did a walk at Letaba, it was fabulous, from the guides to the cook to the food to the huts, just fantastic. The guides are very knowledgeable, friendly and have a wonderful sense of humour.We then spent 3 days in the camp, once again from the receptionist to the lady at the Elephant hall to the guard at the gate, to the staff at the restaurant, wonderful, friendly, fantastic. The camp is in very good condition, the bungalow was spotless.

Guest house accommodation were great with great view, again please be sure to have Wi-Fi hot spot available, especially for foreign visitors. We were delighted to meet Thomas, one of the rangers whose main job is to secure the park against the rhino poachers. Thomas's enthusiasm and dedication to his job was contagious, and we wish Thomas success in fighting the rhino poaching scourge

There is something about nature that puts you into a different headspace. You don't realise it's happening. Being in the Kruger Park, the simplicity of the accommodation, this all helps.

Spent a very enjoyable 3 days in the park.I have two complaints:1)Had to pay R 6-80 for a box of matches in the Letaba Camp shop.A RIP OFF2)Witness overseas tourists refusing to eat the poor quality food in the the Letaba restaurant.The catering in the Park must be outsourced to private restaurant operators who are trained and experienced to cater at a standard that is acceptable to an overseas tourist.

A very beautiful camp and nice to stay. The water in our bungalow not hot enough for example to take a shower.( Had reported that on two occasions) Is there anything that they can do on all this little thorns on the open areas under the trees

We were self catering and therefore were reliant on your communal kitchens. I went to wash up and found it filthy. Cleaned up the washing up area. Went back at lunch time to cook our meal and found nothing had been touched. It was disgusting - candle grease blobs on the surfaces, black pieces all over, leaves and dirt on the floors, stains, you name it, goodness knows when last it was cleaned. Complained and Asst Manager came to see it. I was very upset but he reprimanded me for shouting but did not apologise for the state of this kitchen.

What a wonderful experience. The chalet in the camp was excellent, the staff friendly, the booking procedure painless but the food at the restaurant was awful. Service was good - food was just awful.

Great overall. It is a pity there is no more cocktails available, that goes with the sunset in the bush. The service in Letaba was above average.We were twice at Satara camp and the service was terrible!

Seriously Kruger! I told a lady in the Kruger that I will drive far to eat a nice plate of food. This just does not exist in the Kruger! Coffee - oh my goodness - nothing less than absolute poison and you pay big money for it! I have no complaints but the service in the restaurants and level of commitment and training of the staff in the restaurants is way below average. We might not need new restaurants BUT need serious training, menu upgrades and investment in this area. You will lose people because of this. Other than that - well, the people working in the Kruger speeding is a major issue. Needless - a good time.

We have seen an improvement in the park since the last visit. Service has improved except was very dissapointed at Skukuza. Staff sitting around, especially in lady toilets, they were not clean but when u go to wash your hands they are handing out towel for your hands and expect tips, but feel they should rather clean. Visited Tshokwana picnic spot and have to say the service was excellent, so helpful and efficient. Lataba camp was also very nice. Restuarant service also excellent and friendly. So nice to see an improvement from last year, the staff actually greet where as before they found it difficult to acknowlege you. So keep up the good work.

My husband and me enjoyed our stay at Letaba Rest Camp. The rooms were spacious and clean.The attached kitchen had all the basic amenities. Perfect to cook meals. The restaurant too had good quality food.The staff were friendly and helpful. Also we could see most animals in and around Letaba camp site.Thank you for your hospitality

No keys were available for the safari tent that was assigned to us, thus all your luggage was left unlocked when leaving the camp for game viewing. At night the noise, music, screaming etc from the staff quarters was so loud that you couldn't hear the animals and couldn't just relax. I was also disappointed in the cleanliness of the ablution blocks. At Satara camp the Custos Naturae flag hung upside down. What a disappointment! Not the Kruger National Park standards we are used to!

Always such a great break! Cannot get enough!Small hassles with monkeys helping themselves to our grub though! Find cupboards and fridge doesn't have securing clips to prevent "food theft" and some drying hooks for dish cloths will be great.- dirk de villiers

Had a lovely stay at Letaba. Drove up to see Mopani camp, would love to use sleep out hide or stay here next time. Large volumes of elephant. Did afternoon walk, and very impressed.Perhaps food menus could be modernised a bit.
