South Africa
Best time to visit
South Africa experiences a relatively temperate climate year round which means that the best time to visit depends on what type of activities you hope to enjoy during your holiday.
The majority of the country experiences cold dry winters from June to August. This time of year is ideal for a South African safari in areas such as the Kruger, Madikwe, Pilanesberg and KwaZulu-Natal as the bush is less dense and water is scarce, so the animals tend to congregate around water sources making them significantly easier to locate.
Those eager to see newborn animals should plan their safari during the warmer spring months of September and October.
Temperatures throughout South Africa generally increase from November through March, with the peak summer months - December and January being the perfect time of year to enjoy a sun-soaked beach vacation. Cape Town has magnificent blue flag beaches to enjoy. Watersport enthusiasts exploring South Africa during the winter months should head to the city of Durban on the KwaZulu-Natal coast where you will find wonderfully warm weather all year round, as well as beautiful beaches lapped by the warm Indian Ocean.
