8-Day Southern Tanzania with Foxes Safari Camps

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Dar es Salaam

Upon arrival at Dar es Salaam International Airport, you’ll be warmly greeted by a representative from Foxes Safari Camps, who will assist with your transfer to a hotel in the city.

Day 2: The Adventure Begins

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight to Mikumi National Park.

Touching down in the heart of Tanzania’s wildlife-rich region, you’ll be welcomed by a guide from Vuma Hills. Enjoy a scenic game drive through the park with a picnic lunch en route before arriving at your lodge.

After settling in, head out for an afternoon game drive. Conclude the day with drinks around the campfire and dinner at the lodge.

Day 3–4: Exploring Mikumi National Park

Wake up to the sounds of the wild and choose your preferred game drive experience—an early morning safari with a picnic breakfast, or a mid-morning or afternoon exploration.

Mikumi’s vast landscapes are home to an array of wildlife, from elusive leopards to massive elands and the tiniest dikdiks. Framed by the Uluguru and Mikumi Hills, the park’s scenery is especially photogenic in the golden morning light.

For a full-day experience, embark on an extended safari with a picnic lunch to explore deeper into the park. Return to the lodge in time for sundowners and dinner.

Day 5: Journey to Ruaha National Park

After breakfast, enjoy a final game drive through Mikumi en route to the airstrip for your flight to Ruaha National Park. On arrival, a guide from Ruaha River Lodge will greet you and accompany you on a game drive to the lodge.

Once checked in, take a moment to relax before setting out to the hippo pool for an afternoon safari. As the sun sets over Ruaha’s rugged landscapes, return to the lodge for dinner and an evening of stargazing.

Day 6–7: Wildlife Immersion in Ruaha National Park

Spend your days exploring the vast, untamed beauty of Ruaha—Tanzania’s largest national park.

Choose from early morning, mid-morning, or afternoon game drives, or opt for an exclusive full-day safari. The Great Ruaha River attracts a wide variety of wildlife, creating exceptional opportunities for sightings and photography.

After thrilling game drives, relax with a refreshing drink and enjoy dinner overlooking the wild terrain.

Day 8: Final Game Drive & Departure

Savor your last morning in Ruaha with a final game drive through this incredible landscape. Then, begin your journey back to Dar es Salaam with a midday flight. A member of the Foxes Safari Camps team will meet you on arrival and assist with your international flight check-in or hotel transfer.
