Anton G Cloete

Posto meraviglioso, cortesia e disponibilità ai massimi livelli , struttura molto confortevole.

Daniela

Accommodation very good with exceptional views. Unfortunately we did not see many animals even on the sunset game drive.

M Mcmillan

The house has a superb location and Oliphants is the best located rest camp in Kruger. The house is large and very well equipped, but it badly needs maintenance , particularly to the doors and window, which does pull the impression and rating down a bit. We also had problems with baboons, which tried to break into the kitchen, we were a bit concerned since it was not possible to lock several of the doors.

Eirik Nordheim

We stayed at Olifants Restcamp on 16 - 18 Jan 2016 and we were impressed with our chalet. It was spacious and clean and the beds were made everyday. We also had a stunning view and will definitely come back to this camp. Just sad that the river is so empty hope next time you had some rain. Also the sunset drive was so nice our guide (Wonderful) gave us a lot of information on animals and plants and trees that we saw. And he stopped quite frequently for us to take photos when we saw animals. I wanted to see lions and although we did not see any in the end he made an effort to take us to a spot where there a day before were a pride of eight. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Rolien Croeser

Good.

Leonardus Voncken

Very nice experience. Too bad there is no swimming pool at Olifants rest. We had to go to Letaba.

Frederick Calitz

Absolutely amazing place 2 stay, staff were all great ready 2 help & friendly, went on 3 drives, Vusi the guide has an abundance of knowledge & is extremely funny which makes the 3 hour drive go by quick!!! Fantastic views of the river & super relaxing, Olifants camp is a must

Jose Gabriel Sardinha de Abreu

Great wildlife viewing, good food in Mug and Bean, staff very friendly. Night drive very good, lots of sightings.

Gail Webster

We had the best view in the camp! Staying at unit 14 was a blessing. The weather was hot and dry, but it didn't dampened our spirits

NOELINE BONNER

Same as my appreciation on Lower Sabie.

Brigitte Tirot

Enjoyed our chalet - plus lovely view over the river.

MADELEIN ACKERMANN

What a phenomenal place of beauty!! We shall definitely be returning to Olifants Restcamp with its amazing view and splendid weather! The bungalow was exceptionally clean and so comfortable to stay in! Thanks a million!

Antoinette Myburgh

Absolute fantastic. Bungalows very very clean, peaceful,no load music, no hooting and just the sound of animals. Will definitely go more often. The person at shops and bungalows were absolute helpful and friendly as well as Mrs. Astleigh Pannell, her friendly and helpful manner when booking trips.

JC Smit

bon rapport

SATIE CATHERINE

Out standing view over the river.

Peter Best

Enjoyed the air-con in the rondavel. Slept very well.

bostwick david

Very good.

Emilia Ferri

We were pleasantly surprised on arrival. The camp was clean and welcoming. Our room had everything we needed the first night but then a few towels were not given for the second night. The fridge didn't work very well. However, everything you needed was there and what a view. The shop is fantastic and you really don't need to travel with food at all. They have everything you need. We are planning a return trip with our children.

JOSETTE WEBER

please see my Mopani rating. I could say the same about Olifants. Will definitely be back next year.

Francois

We had a wonderful week-end at the Krugerpark. The game viewing was superb. The accommodation was above our expectation and the service very friendly.

Beatrice Wymann

Everything was perfect. Will definitely be back to this camp. Having a perimeter rondavel was awesome. It would be nice to have a different selection of restaurants - by the third night there, the Mug and Bean menu becomes a bit limiting. Their service is excellent though.

Lorna Gibbons

Having just stayed in Lower Sabie it was such a pleasure to enter our bungalow and realize not all camps are of the same standard. We expected basic and clean and that's what Olifants gave us. We were happy to use the shower and the kitchen was very adequate for our needs and YES we would definitely choose to stay at Olifants again.

Ann Plumbley

We had a really nice stop over at here and with the new kitchen facilities it was super.

sandra pollastrini

Beau point de vue sur la rivière. Logement propre et confortable.

JACKY FAYE

Most beautiful camp in the park, great time had and lots of game.

Gys du Toit

I will recommend Olifants to anyone visiting Kruger. Clean, tidy and friendly staff.

Leigh Robertson

A peaceful camp with great staff. Our rondawel was serviced by a wonderful lady called Rose. She is helpful and went out of her way to make our stay great. Please pass this on to the superiors.

Penny Barnard

We would stay much longer if it was cheaper. Everyone at the park, shop and restaurant was very friendly..

LIANI WATKINS

Great rest camp with awesome view of the river. will definitely be visiting again.

Gilad Kahn

Good camp the setting is great.

ROGER PELLOW

Olifants camp is still one of the best in Kruger. The views from your chalet is great, the restaurant serves good food and elephant sightings many.

Johan du Preez

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was comfortable, the staff assistance friendly and efficient and the wild life as awesome as ever.

Rene van Wyk

The unit was clean and as to be expected in a bush camp.

Peter Korkie

Very good view of the waterhole. Also good facilities and staff very helpful and friendly.

Mark Warren

We have not been to the Kruger Park for ten years. We were so pleasantly surprised to see how well managed the camp is. It was a delight to interact with the staff who were so friendly, courteous and blessed with great smiles. Olifants is always a great camp. Our accommodation unit was marvelous, luxurious, extremely comfortable, spotless and serviced.

PHILIP HAMMOND

We really enjoyed our stay. The camp was very neat as well as the accommodation. The upgrade works perfectly. The staff were very friendly all over. The service at Mugg & Bean at Lower Sabie and Satara was excellent. Will visit the park again.

Vincent Harris

No hot water in shower when we arrived. Maintenance came to fix it. Otherwise good.

carol

The best M&B (food) in the Park.

JOHAN ROELOFSE

Arrived at the entrance gate too late to arrive at camp in time so we had to forfeit our reservation. When I called to see if we had any options there were none. Disappointing.

Demry Sibson

As this was our first trip to the Kruger we did not know what to expect - and the first part of our trip we were stationed in the South of the park.I have to say that we were blown away - what fantastic service we received - the staff were friendly, helpful and very professional!A big element of spoiling and treating for us was the fact that each morning after we had left bright and early on our morning drives - the staff had come in and made our beds - holiday bliss! The location of the camp is more than beautiful - the views from the camp are absolutely breathtaking!Although we were prepared (by fellow KNP lovers as well as some of the rangers at the camp) that we might see less animals - we continued to sight numerous species. The difference in landscape was noticeable and for us newbies it was a wonderful experience to be able to appreciate the beauty that the more northern areas have to offer. The camp quickly settled into our hearts and we will most certainly be back!

NATASHA ARNDT

Excellent in all ways.

ROB OMOLONY

Nice and clean camp. A lovely camp tot visit.

MAGDA SMIT

Olifants camp was very neat and clean and absolutely recommendable! Although accommodation is still a bit old fashioned, bed linen was new.

Lizanne Woite

This is a perfect accommodation for a stay in the Kruger Park.

Hans Ittmann

Wonderful Restcamp and staff we dealt with were wonderful and so friendly. Accommodation a little tired now. Would return and recommend.

Staff were very friendly.

Carol Cellier

Stunning camp and accommodation, nice size and really enjoyed the view, well serviced. Only complaint was that the pool was not available.Well done

Russ Stroud

Small basic bungalow which is great value for money.

Sandra de Kock

Excellent in all aspects.

Tshepo Mzizi

The camp was also amazing and so beautiful. We had a fantastic weekend and we will certainly do it again. I want to stay in this camp again.

Hilda De La Rose

Xmas 2013 I spent in Olifants. The camp as usual was very clean but the restaurant and shop were ghastly and the staff sullen and grumpy..not a pleasure at all. This trip the camp was still immaculately clean but shop and restaurant were well stocked and food good and the staff an absolute pleasure. I truly enjoyed the whole experience although I saw less game variety .. beyond your control! Congratulations Your help line for this review was answered promptly and added to the joy of dealing with the parks. Sondre did so well with the bookings too.

ANNE

Stunning Views

Darryl Joubert

Views and the Stay was great

Darryl Joubert

Exceptionally friendly staff, well maintained facilities and wonderful game viewing. The Olifants Restcamp was great.

Monika McCall

Had a lovely view and a very relaxed time. Great wildlife viewing too. Awful 2 hour wait for food at Mugg and Bean restaurant on 1 Jan but even that didn't really spoil our stay.

David Wise

Superb camp, well serviced, nice clean shops Mugg and Bean was a bonus. Food excellent and the view excellent. Loved this camp will defiantly stay here again.

Sandra Webb

Wonderful resort. Bungalow was very nice, clean and comfortable. If we come back, we will choose olifant again.

Eric De Vleeschouwer

Stay was very enjoyable

Rozanne Visagie

Strikingly beautiful.

Kerry Davidson

We had a four night stay in Olifants. The camp is well situated in the middle of The Kruger Park. A great restaurant, with the nicest view possible for breakfast!! The chalet is nice and we had everything at our disposal for a braai. This was our second stay in this rest camp and we will certainly return there.

ANKE BOURGET

GOOD PLACE

MAXIME BAUMANN

One of the best camps in the Kruger Park.

Petrus Jacobus Niemann

Our two bungalows had an excellent view of the Oliphants River bend and we could literally game watch from our verandas.. herds of elephants, buffalo, antelope, and lots of hippos and birds. A feast of game viewing without moving from our seats!

Joan Houston

It was such a pleasure staying here. The Chalet was top class, and very clean. The staff very friendly. Thank you, will stay here again.

Sakkie Van De Merwe

My husband and I had the most awesome time. Tamboti Tented Camp was truly a bush encounter, so quiet and private, a small gem for next to nothing in price. Olifants Camp was exquisite in it's own way with magnificent river views and views to the horizon. Worth the little extra for a perimeter chalet with a river view .Immaculate, everything was perfectly clean and well kept. Fantastic value for money. Highly recommend both.

Belinda Baker

Belinda Baker

The bungalows are quite ok but the most disappointing thing is the Mug and Bean restaurant because the service is very poor...

Joseph VALLEAU

Our stay at Olifants rest camp was wonderful. It was very clean and tidy and everyone was very helpful. We will definitely be coming back to stay!!!

Catherine Egner

We stayed at the guesthouse which is very luxurious and has an excellent view on the river. We felt like part of the royal family while staying there! Please note that the rooms are all situated in alone standing buildings, which can be a problem when travelling with young children.

Ingrid van Weezep

What a beautiful setting!

Elizabeth Talbot

Like the Mug & Bean.

MUIS MILLER

Stunningly beautiful. Loved every moment we stayed at Olifants.

Noeline Bonner

The huts, new restaurant and all the new improvements makes Olifants a very attractive camp.

Johan Breytenbach

This was our fourth visit to Olifants camp and we were very impressed with the upgrades. We stayed in a premium river-view bungalow that had recently been upgraded with new thatch and paint and it was very pleasant. Disappointing that the restaurant menu was so limited, but, hopefully the new restaurant will be open soon.

Linda Jones

Was just great!!!!!

simon walliser

Fabulous view. Nice camp..

Gail Blunden

The view from our chalet was mind blowing. On the perimeter with all the night sounds and resident bushbuck that was not phased by our presence.

MR G ROBBERTSE

Camp lovely and clean. Beautiful outlook deck. Staff friendly and eager to help.

Clive Hibbert

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed it very much. We will be back in October. Thank you Kruger for an unforgettable holiday.

Dinie Pieterse

Olifants Restcamp is the best choice for me if I go to the Kruger Park. It is a very beautiful peaceful camp, and we do feel that we are in the bush close to nature. The restaurant is okay, but it will be really great to have a Mug and Bean there with great quality food and value.

Adriaan Swart

Good view and good position.

Gian Mario Bissacco

What magnificent views! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Accommodation was comfortable and offered us all the essentials. I would, however, suggest that each bed has its own bedside light and that the shower was more than a trickle. Apart from those little issues, I certainly give Olifants a high rating. Thank you. Much improved since the last time I visited this camp.

Miki Lawrence

The camp was pleasant, peaceful and clean. The service received was efficient and helpful. It is a privilege to enjoy the nature reserve in this manor.

Hannes Steinberg

We had a lovely trip and fantastic bangalows at Olifants - thank you Letitia. Park generally neat and in good condition, with exeption of maintenance issues at the Tents at Lower Sabie - woodwork needs some attentionLiza

Liza Hofmeyr

Well placed in the Kruger park, nice accommodations especially with river view. Do not forget to book the excursions before arriving as they might be full once you will be in the camp (we only had the night safari available, but was funny and interesting anyway).

ANTHONY DE GRANGE

the holidays were very nice, vrey quiet, the cottage was well equiped, the braai area was very nice and there were a lots of things to eat and to buy at the supermarket.... we want to come back again this year, perhaps we could have a reduction for our second visit???

bisson violene

Great camp.

Nick Gouveris

A bit of a surprise that we had to rent utensils, but accommodation was clean and comfortable. Restaurant was good too.

PHILIP COETZER

Good lodge but miising Micro Wave in the kitchen. This equipment should be in all the kitchen.

philippe lecomte

Clean and neat. Well equipt.

Tineke Wilken

This was our last night and it was very nice. Although again we would have like utensils in all the Bunglows and huts. The view over the Olifants river was awesome. I definitly would come again.

Pamela Elizabeth Fortune

We recently stayed at Olifants! We had such an amazing time!! It was so hard to go home! We went on n Bushbraai and the experience was unbelievable!! Thanks for a true African Experience!! We love you guys!! xxx

Grizelda Oosthuizen

Grizelda Oosthuizen

Clean and neat. Staff very friendly and helpful.View over the lowveld is a rewarding experience.

JMW le Roux

Get a perimeter bungalow with a view of the river and you feel like you are overlooking your own piece of Africa.

Ione Wegner

Thank you for a pleasant stay in the Kruger National Park. We will be back in the winter months, hoping to see even more game.

Erika Boshoff

Staff were friendly and helpful. It seemed that someone showered in the Bungalow after it was cleaned by staff and before we arrived.(Some mud footprints were on the shower floor.) We did not report this.

Erna

Beautiful bungalow, perfect view. Restaurant was fair, not too friendly and small in choice.

Henk Hindriks

Olifants is in the rugged rocky area and delivers excellent viewing. Prides of lion, herds of everything , babies and adults, brilliant photo ops, all in the highlight of our trip, love the area.

Morag Harris

Wonderful place in this world!

Mary Desedare

The camp was excellent and although we expected that the restaurant would be closed it was in fact open.

Roger Grigg

Had a lovely night, the tent was good, but can we have a toaster, I really loved it, I wish to know if the kruger park, still has the big 5?

Nokuthula Nkosi

The tranquillity of the Park impresses you immediately. I enjoyed the excursions from Olifants in particular as you don't have to worry about your driving and can sit back or walk, watch the game and get info from the guides on what you are looking at. Great!

Terence Stew

very good accommodation with the best views ever

Michael Luke

We spent three happy nights in Olifant, but we are not self catering people. So we relied on the catering of the neighbouring camp: Mopane was great, Olifant was poor, almost very poor, and Satara, a disaster. If you want to attract foreign visitors, catering should definitely be improved seriously. Mugg and Bean, probably, Wimpy, not sure ... But the bungalow was ok.

jeanfrancois barral

Enjoyed every minute

Jurgen Golditz

The room was dirty. We stayed 2 nights and it was not clean Restaurant and cafeteria was closed and nobody tells us before the arrival. I think we just paid for the view.... And only one washing machine was not out of order

roussier

We had a pleasant stay and the Bungalow was value for money. The only problem we had is the water pressure in our unit was very, very low and we battled to have a shower. Thank you for a great camp. See you soon.

Pieter Haarhoff

This camp had a wonderful view but that was the only thing we enjoyed there. The restaurant was going to change proprietary so there was no choice at all, even lacking of product such as ketchup (that was still sold in the shop close by), the staff was totally demotivated and lacking seriousness. I found a spitting cobra threatening me less than 50 cm from the public path going to the view and nobody from the staff did something to prevent accident. The accommodation had no hot water, and absolutely nothing in the kitchen even glass.

AURELIA RANSOM

Poor facility, no water/hot water etc.

ADRIAAN BASSON

We thoroughly enjoyed the stay at the camp. The atmosphere, accommodation and amenities were great. Being in amongst the wild animals territory was a great experience. +++ will definitely return again.Only negative: we thought the standard of food at the restaurant of Olifants Camp could have been better and similar to other camps we visited.

Luca Dormiro

No refunds for tour changes, even when risk paper only handed out after payment.Nice Location.

Werner Hoenig

I love the kitchen outside. Very nice. And we always get the first line...

ANDREA

We drove 13 hours from Umkumaas to get to Kruger and at some stage didn't think we would make it in time for camp gate closure. The manager at Olifants were unable to allow for a later arrival which I thought was possible. Maybe some flexibility could be considered in future.

Maraldine Kriel

Your rest camps are very nice. We enjoyed Olifants more than Skukuza - Skukuza very busy. KNP is clean and the camps kept in good condition. Well done.

Anita van Wyk

Room was comfy but the bathroom smelled of urine. The camp needs a pool to cool down in. View was outstanding

stella van der westhuizen

Wonderful Experience

Isabel Baatsen

Olifants was the highlight of our trip in the Park. Best Christmas Day ever!

IIrma McMahonrma McMahon

Everything was well managed and I was pleased with mostly everything. We had a wonderful time. We however had bats in our room every night and even left the light on to see if they wont enter but it did not help. Not sure how they get in though.

Nadia Janse van Rensburg

At Olifants we stayed in a bungalow with no utensils so we got up early to use the urn in the communal facility. The urn was broken and didn't seem to have been working for a while. The communal facility was dirty as well. The camo just looks run down.

George Van Der Merwe

We were helped very nicely with the bookings and vouchers. We found that they do not take care of the rest camps in the Kruger National Park. They do not cut the grass. The bathrooms for at the picnic spots and daily visitor sites are dirty. The take away food preparing kitchens are dirty and the food is very expensive and not up to standard.

JF Grobler

Same as above. We saw many rats though running around the back of the restaurant, difficult to control. Staff friendly. Bit of a shame that the staff music was being played so loudly I had to ask reception for help, they were very efficient and within 5 minutes the music had been turned off.

Tanya March

I found the restaurant food was not fresh (sandwiches take way)Menu for New Years Eve was shocking.Service can be jacked up some what.

Mike Massey

Although this camp is old - the staff are friendly - the utilities great, the food was nice overall a lovely ending to our holiday

John Mcginn

Very good - always enjoy Kruger no matter where we are

Linda James

Probably the best camp in the Kruger Park, stunning veiws and beautifully located

Paul Robinson

I hope the place will be improved and like to see the change on my next visit.

Obed Zulu

Accommodation clean and very pleasant

M. Weeks

The best camp there is with a view over the Olifants river

Jan van Beest

This must be the most beautiful camp in the park!!! The accommodation was great and the view extremely beautiful. The staff were very friendly!!

Danie van Zyl

bungalows are very well done after renovation

Daniel Siller

Stay was amazing!Chalets should have basic cutlery as well.

Karen Botha

Unit 33 was nice and close to unit 8.

Mike Usher

Unit 8 was great, but had bats in the roof which landed on us in the middle of the night.

Mike Usher

When we booked, I requested camps with swimming pools and we were bitterly disappointed to arrive at Olifants and discover that there is no swimming pool. The food on the restaurant al la carte menu could be improved. What we did eat was good, but it is the same at all restaurants throughout the park so gets a bit monotonous.

Jacqui McCabe

The processes like registration and departure worked well at Olifants Camp and the personnel were friendly and helpful. The bungalow was clean and well kept and, of course, Olifants camp is the most beautiful camp in the Kruger Park. What was really funny and enjoyable was that we passed speedtraps twice and although we were laughing that there are speedtraps in the Kruger Park, it is also a pity that the human nature requires to be disciplined to respect nature.Thank you for a good experience - will revisit soon

M Marneweck

Chalets and camp in general need a facelift but staff were super and the location couldn't be better!

Anne Petler

Had an overseas guest. The cottage, view, and staff service were excellent, the kitchen area needs upgrading. Overall a great visit.

R.J. van Coller

We stayed 1 night at Olifants camp and 2 other nights elsewhere in the Park. Although I did not expect more, compared with the other camps and being the most expensive of the lot, I honestly cannot rave about it. It needs a revamp! Most off putting although was the pungent smell in the restaurant and shop area of - I think - monkey urine...absolutely terrible! You are welcome to contact me if you need any further comments.

DR Wilson

One of the nicest camps I've stayed at.

Peter Rosmarin

My husband and I had our first night in Kruger at the Olifants rest camp. Our bungalow was clean, with basic amenities. We arrived late, around 6pm and had a lovely Braai and listened to the lions roar in the distance. Olifants is a lovely smaller sized camp with everything you need for a nice stay.

Geraldine Toole

The Kruger did not fail to deliver. That said, I would like to add that the camp was a terrible disappointment... The first problem was that there was no pool - knowing that we had children with us, I would've appreciated our travel agent recommending another camp... We also stayed in chalet nr.40 and 41 - it was a bit dilapidated, and the plumbing didn't work well - with the wash basin overflowing when you flush the toilet and the grocery cupboard infested with ants....

Nicola Brits

On the net they show a swimming pool, but no swimming pool. Not happy with bungalow, enjoy Skukuza more.

Louise

Lovely camp and great view from our bungalow, pity about the work being carried out there especially as the bungalow next to us was under renovation, but did not affect us too much.

John Cox

John Cox

Lodge average, very small, no cooking (kitchen), limit (borderline) cleanliness.

Miss Brigitte Fraipont

Our stay was awesome in the Kruger Park we saw almost every animal!Great value for money! Thanx

As with our time at Tamboti, Olifants was also incredible. The camp is just beautiful! The staff were helpful and moved us to a river view chalet as we requested. All in all, it was a great holiday.

Linda Jane Simone

A lovely camp with a beautfiul viewing deck and great service. The night drive was lovely and the guide very good.

Anne Newman Beggs

It was awesome. Thank you!

Catherine Rollinson

The facility we slept in was in an excellent condition. Keep it up. Very much impressed.

Mpumelelo Moyo

The units are pleasant if a little small. The separate units with their own verandahs and braais were a big improvement on the semidetached units of Punda Maria. We appreciated the pantry cupboard on the verandah where we could at least store food outside the sleeping area. Please add more shelves, benches, hooks and rails in the bathrooms for toiletry bags, clean and dirty clothes etc. In addition please add shelves, hooks, rails and soap dishes in the showers. Please supply kettles in the units. The general camp area was pleasing and well maintained.

Deryk Morton

As above.

Gerrie Van Rooyen

Reservation was quick and exceptional.

Izak de VIlliers

First of all apologies for the delay in replying. We all had an amazing holiday. Saw so many animals. Weather perfect! Even the fact that the restaurant was under refurbishment did not spoil our experience in the camp.

We found the rest camp very nice and the bungalow confortable. It was great to spot the elephants in the river under the full moon shadow and amazing to have breakfast watching the hippos playing in the water!Experience to repeat!

I wish that we could hear what the 5 o'clock truck driver said on the sunrise trip. I wish that more interest would be shown on bird life (as your list reflects as well).Otherwise the personnel was efficient and friendly. The bungalows were enjoyable.

Emmanuelle

We will definitely be back next year!

Elmien Scott

The view from the restaurant is sublime.Accommodations were fairly nice.

Filip Heylen

Great guides. Guided us straight to a group of lions who were just finishing up a killed buffalo.Very exciting to do!

Filip Heylen

Lovely experience. Just as I remember it 10 years ago.

Mr M van Zyl

The view from No.2 chalet was amazing! We had a great time at the Olifants camp. The receptionist was very friendly and made us feel at home.

Seema

We have stayed at Olifants several times over the years but it's always a pleasure to return. Nicely situated camp. The rondavels are clean. Good beds. The camp shop is well stocked. We really enjoyed our stay.

Elma van Iersel

The booking, rondaval cleanliness and Park Officials made the stay wonderful. will do it again anytime. It would be nice to see a more down to earth meals at the camps, Tshokwane was really super and rustic.Thank you for keeping the Kruger Park wonderful.

Campbell

* Dry season, park needs rain.* Some gravel roads around Olifants in need of maintenance* Building alterations a bit of an issue, but we are looking forward to another stay when completed

Gerrie Marais

It was brilliant. Unfortunately I forgot how long it takes to drive to the camps once inside the park. Our first night was spent in Pretoriouskop because we did not have time to reach Olifants before dark. Your staff very kindly found me a hut for our first night. The only disappointment was that the TV in Olifants was not working so I could not watch the Rugby match between the Boks and the All Blacks.

S.IAN WALL

While the housekeeping and shop staff are extremely friendly and helpful the same cannot be said for the reception staff. The staff in the reception area are shocking, they remind of the most unabiding, unfriendly, government officials.

dudley francis

I came back to see the animals - and we saw them. However, nothing much seems to have changed with regard to the camps since I last visited six years ago.(1) You now need definitely to provide full and preferably free internet wifi services throughout your camps - and the cost of providing this needs to be built into your overnight accommodation charges.(2) The food and service at the three camps which we stayed in was quite acceptable, but not great. I think it would be so much better if the food and other outlets could be privatized, so that there is some competition to be the best.(3) The electricity plugs in your units generally only suit South African connections. You should have at least one international plug so that cameras etc can be plugged in.At present we can only do this using the shaver connections.

Brian Kusel

All staff are very friendly and eager to help. Very nice camp and well managed

We had a lovely time in the Park. We were so lucky to see the big 5 in ONE day. The first day we have seen 4 of the big 5. We found lions 4 times the second day on separate occasions - counted about 20 all together. Apart from them we also experienced a lot of of spring for other animals as well. The cherry on top - they were all close by.It really was worth while - every minute. Thanks for making it possible for us as our stay was a present for my husband's birthday. He loved it.

Rina Vermeulen

Bats in the room!

Ian Wellard

The only negative comment I have is that the Cafeterias make awful cappuccinos and was commented by several guests. I stayed over at Skukuza as well great place. Played a round golf, thanks to staff at golf course had an enjoyable round. Thanks to all involved in making the vacation a memorable one.

Mike Povey

We had a wonderful stay at Olifants on our way to Mozambique and as always the facilities in Kruger are well maintained, good value and the whole experience is backed up by great staff at the camps.

Alan Macualay

Nice camp, very clean.

Rachel Cauldwell

The restaurant wasn't good.

Francesco

The atmosphere in Olifants was awesome. It is less visited and therefore much more quiet than Satara where we were the last time. The view is awesome! The bungalow was clean and comfortable. The aircon was a life saver. The only thing was that the shower did not work properly. The water flow was poor and drainage very bad. We did not report it until the last day however. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The game drives could be better, not worth the money we payed and should not allow children younger than 18. They got bored, talked a lot and played with the search lights. Thank you for your excellent service!

Sin duda esta situado en un sitio increible.Aunquepor nuestra experiencia es donde vimos menos animales, cuanto mas al norte menos animales.Aquimucho cocodrilo e hipopotamo.

Fantastic stay!! Room was beautifully clean and what a view. Staff at the shop were also very friendly. All appliances in the rondavel worked well and covered all our needs for a 1 night stay!

We had an amazing experience at Olifants Cammp. The bungalow was well equiped and overlooked the river. Enjoyed the stunning view while having a braai. From the look out point at the restaurant we were so lucky to see a Leopard.I will definately visit this camp again.

This was the best stay we had ever experienced. It could not have been any better. We had the best view of the river with the most spectacular sunrises every morning. If this is what paradise feels like, bring it on! Great people, great place, great experience never to be forgotten. We will be back for sure.

Raymond Swanepoel

This is a wonderful camp, even the staff are more approachable and helpful....would definitely go there again.....

Gordon Alexander

This was my first visit in Kruger Park and I was amazed about dimension of the Park, about the wilderness notwithstanding the number of visitors.Olifants Camp is in a perfect position to look at the animal approaching the river below.

Great wonderful break from Durbs in the bush!

Accommodation too small and uncomfortable. Way overpriced compared to accommodation outside the Park Gate.

I've been to Kruger for several times but didn't see a lion, this time around I saw about 4, in different locations. Thanks to Olifants Rest Camp, if I didn't book there, I wouldn't have been able to see the lions! Nice Bungalows, professional service... will come back again next year February.

I stayed at Olifants Camp which since childhood has always been a favourite of mine, and I still really enjoyed being there. The only thing i was disappointed in was that I was never told that the restaurant was being renovated - this was sad as I has planned a birthday dinner for my partner.

We have enjoyed our trip and have seen a lot of the wildlife and are planning do do so on a yearly base.

could smell the drains and was not comfortable to braai with the smell in the air.

Will book again in this camp - this time a bungalow with view and kitchen !

Lydia van Heerden

It was brilliant. Unfortunately I forgot how long it takes to drive to the camps once inside the park. Our first night was spent in Pretoriouskop because we did not have time to reach Olifants before dark. Your staff very kindly found me a hut for our first night. The only disappointment was that the TV in Olifants was not working so I could not watch the Rugby match between the Boks and the All Blacks.

S.IAN WALL

Although the Rangers had the knowledge, they offered nothing to the very young group of American students. It was only when I stopped and asked about a funnel web spider's nest that he would tell us about it. Nothing was said about the spoor we walked over or the droppings along the way. What possible usefulness is just walking along the bushpaths if the tourists don't know anything about what they are looking at? I learned an incredible amount as a student when the knowledge of the group leader was shared with us. The snack on offer was plastic cheese in paper wrappers - really?!!!

SHELLEY BAILEY

It is a breathtaking experience. We are planning our next trip to the Northern part for next year already. The only thing they can have a look at is to build some extra toilet facilities between the camps. Because if you drive from berg en dal to lower sabie theirs nothing untill lower sabie or crocodile. And one or to hides with it to go and enjoy a peaceful afternoon and watch the animals coming to drink at a waterhole. Other than that, we enjoyed it extremely.

Good middle safari experience, accommodation basic but gives the African experience. Food was ok, could have been more authentic.

Kevin Braithwaite

It was my first time going to the Park and since I have been there all I seen to want to do is go back! Loved every minute.

Burnadette Fick

The camp accommodation was ok but the restaurant was bad. The food is basic and totally overpriced. There is no effort in making the food look or taste to value for money. The restaurant survive was also not up to standard. I feel a shame that any international/local visitor receive such service. The shops are however very nice and caters for everyone's needs.

Marnus

The K N P is without question the best place in the world, with regard to Animal viewing, relaxation and witnessing God's creation. The only problems that I experience is that of high priced accomodation and high priced shop costs, in the camps. My only solution to this is to use the cheaper camping rates, and bye all groceries "outside" the park

Lindsay Tattersall

Good service and a quiet place away from home.

Mr Bert Knopies

Hi,The experience was great! We are blessed as a nation to have a park like Kruger.Kind RegardsRean

Rean du Plessis

The pillows not nice and poor quality. The bungalow was not clean. Was lots of dirt under beds.

Johann Weiermans

Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return to Olifants as it is a great camp!

Andries van Niekerk

We hired two chalets for 5 persons but couldnt book the extra bedding till we had arrived and when we did of course there was none so although we paid for 5, my husband had to sleep with the two boys in 2 beds. Also most annoying that the astronomy drive was not running although it still appears on the phamplets and on-one knew it was off even at Berg en Dal. On leaving we were not told that the Tarred H7 rd was closed resulting in a long dirt rd detour on our drive back to Jhb to catch the areoplane. So although the animal viewing is great, we dont feel as if we are treated as guests but often as if it is our fault that we dont have the required information such as that there is no kettle even in the chalets. We are south african citizens too!

Garth Elliott

Very nice trip - KP well run and staff friendly

Peter de Leeuw

We had the most beautiful view, and our chalet was absolutly fantastic. This is the camp we enjoyed the most.

I was not impressed with :1. The key we received for the bungalow was broken and they had to come back twice to fix the problem while we waited. We lost out on a game drive.2. The braai area as well as the parking bay had no lights. Frustrating if you want to braai or load your vehicle early morning.3. The last about 20km gravel road to the camp from Satara side is in a very bad condition and no game were seen here because of the dust. This is the only road to the camp, because the tar road is still closed after the floods.

F Bezuidenhout

We really enjoyed our short stay and will and plan to stay longer next time. Park in good condition and all staff members very helpful and friendly.

Stayed at Olifants, very impressed with how clean everything was and how friendly staff were. Think it's a bit expensive though for what you get - maybe there should be discounts for South Africans...

Claire Taylor

While the housekeeping and shop staff are extremely friendly and helpful the same cannot be said for the reception staff. The staff in the reception area are shocking, they remind of the most unabiding, unfriendly, government officials.

The camp was nice and in comparison to the Berg-en-dal night drive, this was a totally different experience with 2 very enthusiastic guides (with good senses of humour). We did not see much but we learnt from the little we saw. However, I do not think I will go on another night drive. We see very little and it is uncomfortably cold.

Irene Balkind

This bungalow was on the perimeter and although slightly more expensive, it had a better view.

The camp was amazing and it has the best views out of all the camps. You do not even have to drive out to see animals as there is alot of activity with the wild at the river. The only problem we had was that the Bungalow we stayed in(No. 19) did not have it's own stairs and we had to use the neighbour's stairs to go down to our braai, that was a bit uncomfortable. Overall it was a very lovely camp and the staff was very friendly and helpfull.

NICOLENE WAGNER

What a fabulous time we had! The bungalows were superb, immaculate condition! The staff were friendly and very helpful, the camp sites were well kept and the plenty animals were plentiful. Overall well enjoyed! Will definitely call again!!!!!!

We loved our stay at Olifants Rest Camp. Everything we needed was avaialbe in the Bungalow (except utensils - but I had my own)and in the shop. It was so relaxing to sit outside on the stoep and see the Olifants river and hear the hippos. I will definately stay there again.

Lydia & Geo Dunn

Olifants Rest Camp propose outdated accomodation, poor maintenance, not clean with 3 single beds for a couple instead of 1 double. Heating system out of order. Swinish attendants and disgusting food at the restaurant. Deceiving and expensive morning walk : only hippos.

Cyrille LEGORGEU

This is by far my favourite camp in the park, the views from the viewing deck and the restraunt are out of this world. The camp itself is very well maintained and a place that I will never tire of.

Shaun Bartram

i have marked the animals we saw throughout our stay

B Wilkins

In the past Olifants was always one of the best camps to stay in, not so now. Very disappointing that the park has contracted the restaurants out. It has really lost it's old charm!!! Having seen Satara and Letaba's setup,Olifants needs to really up their game. It was a disgrace to say the least. So much so, I tried to swop reservation to another camp and was informed that had I booked directly with the park, I could have done so, but couln't because my booking was made through safari.com who I thought was in fact direct. I don,t understand why we couln't exchange having booked this way.

glenda milne

I do not know if you are the appropriate peoople to deal with this, however the entire experience was spoilt upon exit of the Park. As we exited the Orpen Gate our exit pass was taken and, for all intent and purposes we were of the mind that we had exited the park. To our surprise, as we travelled, we were stopped by Park Officers for purportedly speeding (driving at 70). Their reason, we had not yet left the park as there is another gate. This, despite our exit pass having already been taken. The Park officer informed me that our exit pass will still be taken at the next gate, however the exit pass had already been taken. I received a R750 fine which spoilt the entire weekend. I also find it abhorent that these officers are absent in the park where a number of people with X5 BMWs and bigger vehicles, speed willfuly and wantonly but that they decide to sit in an area, where one is (according to the taking of exit passes) already out of the park and target soft targets who pose no threat to any animals (as there are non around)(a mere 200 meteres away from - what according to the Park Official - is the actual exit gate.) However, driving from Malelane, via Skuzuza, up to Olifants and from Olifants to Timbavati and from Olifants to past tropic of capricorn, not one Park Official was seen enforcing any speed limit (despite us being passed and almost written off by various speeding vehicles), but 200 metres from a supposed exit gate a contigent of some 10 park officials are manning a speed trap.

CHARLES E. THOMPSON

Accommodation basic but comfortable. Stunning view from restaurant area. Restrooms were clean and well maintained throughout the park. One of my favourite places in the world.

Gill Cohen

A wonderful trip. The room was clean and tidy. We had no security issues with food or belongings. The room, cooking facilities as well as all communal kitchens were clean everyday which was great. Had a very enjoyable night drive from the camp, the ranger was extremely knowledgable and friendly. An overall awesome experiance and a definate must do for travelers on a budget. Its a great way to experience the park in a relatively inexpensive manner and to add a bit of adventure to it.

We had a great stay in Olifants. The only thing we did not know was that you had to bring your own cutlery etc... so we had not... luckily we could hire some but it would be good to state at reservation you have to bring or if needed you can hire....

Like always a visit to KNP is great. The service in the restaurants was traditionally not a great experience but lately it has improved dramatically, but the service and food in Satara is exceptionally bad.Just sitting in the restaurant all you hear is visitor after visitor complaining. The service at the gates is of high standard.Regards

Enjoyed tremendously, although we stop at a pick-nick site where they are busy setting up a fence that is good but the apes were really aggressive stole (obviously they are apes) fruit /food of our table we had to leave as they were really aggressive cant remember the name but it is between Satara and Skukuza.

It is a lovely camp with stunning views! We did the sunset - drive and mornings walk. What a lovely experience! We saw so many animals on the sunset drive, and the game-driver gave us so many info and tips on viewing animals. We had a lovely stay; such a romantic setting.

So this camp is a little up North but driving from the South in the morning we had seen 4 out of the big 5 by lunch time. The camp itself is quiet & some may think out the way but I liked it. Only problem was that the bathroom was very smelly & they were fully booked so we couldn't move, but other than that I wouldn't rule it out just because it's at the North of the park. 10 mins out the gate we saw a Lion, Leopard & Rhino's.... cant beat that!

In general my visit to the park was a great one. I do believe on the contrary that it is NOT exceptional value for money. Some of the entrance gates to the park are not well indicated. The work areas (shelves) for the kitchens in general were not up to standard. Hot plate switches in our bungalow - Olifants Rest Camp were a real mess! The roads leading to some of the gates (outside the park) is a disaster - NOT good for advertising South Africa. The shopping experience was very good though!

We did the backpacking trail and had a fantastic time. The menu at the restaurant could be jazzed up a bit/made a bit fancier. The service on our way out at Phalaborwa Gate was useless - the guys didn't know what they were doing and seemed insistent on wasting our time.

Susan May Robbie

Unit not properly cleaned; human hair in several places. Also need general maintenance.

1) Knowing beforehand the departure time for the night drive. Our night drive was on the same day as our arrival and it was a bit of a rush. 2) It would be nice to have like a radio station where rangers and visitors can inform the people in the park of where animals like the big 5 have been cited so that everybody can improve their chancers of seeing the big 5. 3) It would also be nice to have a built up area around the braais at the various bungalows to accomodate plates and glasses etc and with a light to make braaing more enjoyable at night. Otherwise a really enjoyable holiday!

Many Thanks for the opportunity of telling you of our recent visit to the Kruger Park. The booking was efficiently done from your side. We stayed at Olifants Camp - haven't been there for years - and found it to be extremely clean and the staff very friendly. The shop had everything one could wish for and was well stocked. On our arrival, we were given chalet No. 62, which, when we arrived there, saw that people had already used the chalet for the day - so not at all happy - as there were cigarette butts in the ashtrays and the bed had been used!!! Before we had time to get back to the office, an official came to us and gave us another chalet - which had a better view of the river - so needless to say, we were much happier with our change. We stayed there for 3 nights - and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The vervet monkeys visited one morning - and as usual, totally destroyed the contents of our neighbours fridge - this should definitely be looked into - even though there is a notice on the front door - these little buggers are so quick. This should be looked into as they are a real nuisance!! We hope to be back soon.

Good dayWow, just like always, the experience was exceptionally great! This time was special to me and my Gran. Since I can remember it was tradition for me to visit the Kruger Park with my grandparents. This year grandad passed away in February and it was the first ever it was just Gran and I. We however had good memories while driving through the peaceful ambiance of the park. We had some tears, laughs and most of all some finalities over Granddad passing. I would like to personally thank all the staff for the great service, the smiles and the always willing to help attitudes. Keep it up guys, you're doing great. Warmest regardsDouw Bezuidenhout

As one moves North in the park the Mopani bush limits game viewing from the road. I suggest that in flat areas elevated earth ramps similar to those used by the British police to monitor traffic on highways be installed. A car could drive up and over to view over the bush. No great cost or impact on the ecology would be incurred it install them and they would be immensely popular.

Brian Plant

AFTER STAYING IN THE SABIE BUNGALOW, THE BUNGALOW AT OLIFANTS IS A DISAPPOINTMENT. HOWEVER, THE VIEW WAS GREAT. ONCE CONSTRUCTION AT THE RESTAURANT IS COMPLETE I AM SURE IT WOULD BE GREAT. WILL BOOK AGAIN BUT A BUNGALOW WITH ALL UTILITIES, VIEW, BATHROOM ETC.

Olifants is a delight. We stayed in a beautiful thatched hut sharing our porch with a pair of roosting Mauritian tomb bats during the day. The views over the Olifants river are spectacular. You don't have to leave the camp to see hippos. Get up early enough and you'll see them walking down to the river. We did a morning walk with John and Patrick which I would very much recommend. The guides' knowledge is incredible. We got up close to hippos, crocodiles and a loan buffalo. We also saw many birds including a pair of giant eagle owls and a white backed night heron. The walk was another highlight of our trip.

We have enjoyed our stay at Olifants Rest camp a lot. The bungalow was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The view was fabulous - We will definitely visit again. We were also surprised to have seen a python on the road just after Skukuza camp. We came across lions twice. Unfortunately the wild dog, leopard and cheetah have avoided us this time. But that is one of the reasons why we will visit again to also see these animals in the wild.

Neat and tidy, an improvement on ber-en-dal, except for the restaurant, i assume that this has been contracted out. a fatal mistake. Service was poor; food was not available or had run out, a total lack of care by all. There were plenty of foreign visitors in the restaurant and both Jill and I were not proud be south Africans at that stage.

Olifants rest camp is, in my view, in need of a revamp. We first visited Olifants in 1983 and the accommodation does not seem to have altered much in 26 years. I am not asking for 5 star luxury, a Kruger Park rest camp is not for the rich and famous, however the huts are in need of refurbishment. As for the catering, I was most surprised at the very poor menu on offer and also at the very poor quality of the food received. To my mind this is unacceptable, even bearing in mind that a newly refurbished restaurant is being constructed. I have to say that we also visited Lower Sabi and the choice of food again on offer was poor. My opinion is that you need to give a kick up the backside to your catering franchise and insist that they offer a more varied menu and also food that is edible. As for the park itself, this remains an incredible place to visit, let's hope some of the rest camps can offer a similar high standard in the future.

David Burrows

Great fun as usual, game wardens were highly skilled.

I always enjoy Kruger Park and have probably been going there for 40 years. Disappointed in one of the picnic spots called Makhadzi - would be great if you could find out whats happened there? Looking very derelict!! Which is unusual for the Kruger Park

The cutlery is only 2 of each. We had to take turns with the fork to eat. The bungalow was under water when we came in the room as the fridge was off and it defrosted with all the water coming on the floor. We had to use 1 towel to dry the floor which means we only had 1 towel for 3 of us. Other than that we enjoyed the camp and park. Thank you

Good equipment in the bungalow, a really nice place to stay.

I was very disappointed with the official night drive and morning game drives I had from Oliphants Camp - guide Patrick wasted a lot of time and explained the same animals over and over instead of using that time looking for new animals, mostly stopped to tell us about birds, drove almost the same paths as the night drive, saw so much more by myself and saved a lot of money..games drives were a total waste of money. Camp was good

Very comfortable beds! Clean and complete kitchen. Overall impression: the rooms need upgrading. A good B&B cost the same and provides far better accommodation than the bungalows in the camp. New Linen, curtains, bathrooms and Kitchen utensils are needed.

We enjoyed our stay at Olifants. The bungalo was neat and tidy and well equiped. Everything inside was in a working condition. Only suggestion is to have a soap container or shelf in the shower. There is no place to put ones toiletries, except on the shower floor, which is inconvenient. We were in Unit 111. Otherwise it was a very enjoyable stay and the staff at the shop were really very friendly and helpful, especially Thandi.

Overbooked again by two spots. Informed the office.

Apart from comments made on our stay at Satara, we had to request a toaster to be brought from the linen store, because they only work once, we were told by the maid. And the cooker controls were clearly marked that they operated in reverse direction to their markings. But that didn't work in practice on both dials! Very frustrating.

We were happy with our bungalow at Olifants it was very clean and well prepared - BUT we were very annoyed because we travelled long distances to 2 picnic sites (Tsohkwane and Makhadzi) only to find them closed - we and many other many other visitors had not seen any notices warning they were closed, and were seriously inconvenienced. In fact you still have no notice under your 'Picnic Sites' web page http://sanparks.org.za/parks/kruger/tourism/picnicspots. There is just no excuse for the absence of any 'closed' notice on the turn-off to Makhadzi and at Tshokwane why have you fenced off the picnic area that people could sill use with the chemical toilets and water you have there??

Me and my wife share the opinion that the gardening of Olifants Rest Camp is not up to the same standard than Letaba or Orpen. The accommodation was a bit expensive regarding the benefits offered. But overall it was a wonderful experience.

We had a nice time in Kruger. Olifants was a bit disappointing but Satara was wonderful! Lower Sabie is a beautiful camp but the service at the restaurant area is non-existant!

We had a wonderful time in Kruger park. The bungalow we slept in was clean, but a new air con. with less noise would be fine. We will go for more luxury next time. Hans Lund

I took overseas visitors to the Kruger and found a couple of problems.1. In the bungalow we found worms in the bed. The smell of freshly painted beams was extremely strong.2. Food is terrible there is no other expression for it. We had decided not to take food but to eat in the camp. At Satara were informed that only the middle section of the menu was available and two had been excluded. At Olifants at least they offered one night a curry and a potije which was ok. Bur every other evening there is no decent food to have.

We had a bad experience at the restaurant. Regina was our waitress and service was absolutely below standard. We paid R114 for a meal that was not even cooked properly when we asked for the chicken to be cooked more we got a burned peace of meat. I will never make use of the restaurant again. We asked for the manager and got ignored. We were just told to pay the account.

Three days, two nights, a bush walk and a night drive and the four of us had an awesome time. We stayed at Olifants camp and are regular visitors to the park. The animals look very healthy and the bush very lush. The small bungalows are spartan, but adequate.

The accommodation was good, the service great and the staff very friendly. We were there during the floods which placed enormous strain on them, as there was no electricity for a day and no cellphone signal, sinkholes in the road and limited access to the park. While you can do nothing about a natural disaster there is one BIG fault at Olifants Camp which you can address. There is no drainage in and around the restaurant building. All the rainwater simply floods straight down the entrance walkway through the lobby, shop, restaurant,, verandah and flows down the hill. It is a basic design mistake that is eaily rectified, but had a huge impact on the daily operations. Staff spend most of the day bailing water and mopping up as the water just kept on flowing through the building. Guests were left with erratic service because staff were too busy trying to clean up. Get your engineers/builders/architects in to put in some drainage.

Despite the flooding which kept us in camp for a day it was a pleasant experience and the staff was very helpful.

We had an amazing time out on Safari and saw some great sights, being lucky enough to see all of the big five! What really let the trip down were the following issues:-When we checked into Olifants I had a problem with my bank card so could not pay the park entry fee there and then, I explained this to the man at reception and said I would have to go and call my bank. I got the problem sorted and returned to pay the fee the following morning, the same man (a heavy set man, looked like he was in his 30's)was extremely rude, he stared at both me and my wife and said that we were a problem and that he had got in trouble with his boss because we did not pay straight away. I apologised for the delay but he refused to accept my apology and just put his hand under my nose for the money. His attitude was disgusting and was the worst guest service I have ever experienced, which was very disappointing as up until then I had found everyone in SA to be very friendly and polite.-The second main issue was that on the last night day of our stay in Olifants, I had left
