The accommodation was great and the camp is well look after. In fact , all the camps we visited was looking very good and all the Restaurant areas, is of high quality and a really plus for South African tourism.Thanks.

Hennie de Villiers

Bungalows need some maintenance but otherwise good.Restaurant OK.

This is our 4th visit to the park - first was 1996 - and we always stay at Satara and for the longest time if possible. It's our favorite place to stay. It's a wonderful very well run camp. It doesn't have the stunning views of Olifant, Letaba or Lower Sabie but inside the camp is very pleasant. The cottages are simple. spacious and extremely well designed - I would suggest the park use them as template. The shop is well stocked and well run and the restaurant - now a Mugg & Bean is nice and also well run.One of our favourite drives out of here is north to Olifants for lunch (another M&B with a stunning view) and the game viewing on the road never disappoints.Overall: Satara in excellent.

PETER MCGINLEY

Room was clean and nice.

Roberta DAngelo

A great weekend. All clean and neat. Saw lots of interesting things. Lions killed two buffalo 10 meter from each other. Lions killed blou wildebeest 200 metres from fence at Satara. 3 lion cubs plying next to main road no mothers in sight. Satara bush cat visit us in camping area.Hippo 3 metres from car gracing next to main rd and many more.

WILLIE OOSTHUIZEN

Stanley House at Satara is excellent. The house is very spacious and comfortable. The waterhole outside the fence is Awesome, with a great variety of animals using it all through the day. If the showers in two of the en-suite-bathrooms could be improved, it would be faultless!

GEOFFREY STEYN

Satara certainly deserves it's name as the top camp in Kruger. Extremely well run and all the game viewing was superb. We also loved Mug and Bean.

Marie-Louise van Niekerk

Had a lovely stay despite the heat wave. The aircon units in the bungalows definitely make the stay comfortable.

Th team of staff at Satara were both kind and helpful. I fell ill and the concern and compassion they had was heart warming. Will most certainly go back.

Satara was by far the best camp and I would go back to stay there again anytime, the bungalow was great, the staff and restaurants where good and we had a fantastic game drive with Cindy, she was amazing and would give her 10/10. We are very happy that we spent 2 nights at this camp!

Camp Receptionist was very friendly. Bungalow was very neat and clean. Everything went so smooth from checking in at Phalaborwa Gate. Can see why Satara camp won as best camp for so many years.

The people at reception were friendly and helpful and even though our key did not fit, they sent someone immediately. The accommodation was comfortable and clean.

Hannes Folscher

Totally loved our accommodation here and again saw loads of game.

MADELEIN ACKERMANN

Absolute fantastic. Bungalows very very clean, peaceful,no load music, no hooting and just the sound of animals. Will definitely go more often. The person at shops and bungalows were absolute helpful and friendly as well as Mrs. Astleigh Pannell, her friendly and helpful manner when booking trips.

My wife and I loved the whole park. Every corner. Keep it up like that. I also appreciate the effort in keeping the park clean. Keep up the good work!

Gerhard Ceronie

We really enjoyed staying here and the bungalow was excellent!

Michael

The park is always a winner. At the rate the park's accommodation is growing, it is a good idea to add new roads to thin the traffic out.

Stan Woxholt

This Camp is the nest Situated Camp I have ever stayed in for Big Cat sightings. In One day we got 7 different Lion sightings and two Leopard sightings . There were other days when we had Cheetah close to the camp, Leopard and Lion within 2kms from the Camp entrance.

Ross Barlow

Enjoyed pleasant staff and facilities. Have reservation over M&B.

Johan

Satara is situated in a great game viewing area. The bungalow was well maintained and equipped and all the bungalows are arranged in a circle with the barbecue areas facing a park with nice trees.

MARGARET BUTLER

Lovely camp, staff at the office helpful and friendly. Accommodation was clean and would go back for a longer stay next time.

Leslie Patrick

Hubby and I stayed at Satara Rest Camp and had the most fantastic time. On day two there was a lion kill right outside the camp site with four male lions that had brought down a buffalo, what a sight. The shop was well stocked with all basics, the facilities and ablutions were clean and the staff very friendly. We are going to make this an annual trip and cant wait for next year's adventure.

Tracy Ransley-Melvin

A rather busy camp but everything was as good as we could have hoped for. We loved everything!

Peter Owen

Baie mooi skoon en vriendelike personeel. braaie areas altyd skoon gemaak. .ablusieblokke 10 uit 10

Fanie Van Wyk

What a wonderful trip! Excellent sightings.

Richard

We just love Satara! The units are clean and tidy and have all the necessary amenities for an enjoyable stay. GREAT location, lovely sightings! We went to watch the night show and we loved it, so informative and to get to watch it under the stars is just awesome. Would stay there forever!

LENE

Really enjoyed this camp. Very nice for game viewing. Saw the big 5 in the vicinity of this camp. Centrally located and very good facilities.

Mark Warren

Very nice cottage.

elisabeth gelkopf

Our two day stay at Satara was brilliant. Our 3 bed Rondavel was spotlessly clean, comfortable and conveniently situated in the camp which is beautifully maintained. The daily entertainment provided by the different species of birds, monkeys, banded mongoose and a honey badger (Ratel) made for a very enjoyable and memorable stay. The Mug & Bean restaurant provided excellent meals served by friendly smiling staff. Satara staff are commended for their friendliness, quiet efficiency and great smiles. A highlight of our stay was a sunrise game drive in the company of a wonderful knowledgeable Edward. He had an excellent sense of humour and an expert eye for some of the parks wonderful small night creatures. Thank you for 3 hrs of sheer bliss.

PHILIP HAMMOND

Nice bungalow location. Spacious and clean.

carol

We stayed in a new chalet and thought it was beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Lynn Gouws

Service at reception was friendly and helpful. Loved it!!

Lyn Roodt

As this was our first trip to the Kruger we did not know what to expectI have to say that we were blown away - what fantastic service we received - the staff were friendly, helpful and very professional!A big element of spoiling and treating for us was the fact that each morning after we had left bright and early on our morning drives - the staff had come in and made our beds - holiday bliss! The camp is ideally located and we were really lucky in our sightings - during our stay we went on a sunset drive and the ranger was knowledgeable and very approachable. The other services in the camp such as the communal kitchens were always clean and neat. The shops and restaurants were a delight and we could find everything and more that we might have neededThe camp quickly settled into our hearts and we will most certainly be back!

NATASHA ARNDT

Wonderful. The improvement of the camp is great.

Bill Harling

The professionalism and enthusiasm from the personnel is heartwarming! SANParks give me hope for SA future in conservation!

annemarie

Excellent service. We had a wonderful nature experience.

Johan van Rensburg

Staff at arrival at the Orpen gate as well as Satara rest camp were friendly and well prepared with all administrative matters . It was finalized within minutes.

Pieter Koen

Satara provides a peaceful sanctuary after a long days game viewing. It has old world charm with its rondavels, it has modern day eating facilities and the camp is well maintained in most respects.

ANGELA WAIN

Always a favourite, the best camp in the Kruger! Excellent drives and friendly staff. How about losing the shower curtain in exchange for a glass door!

S BOETTGER

Love the camp.

elmarie horn

Satara is a busy camp with lots of people. It is very well situated and we saw a great deal of game in that area. It is well furnished and maintained and I would recommend staying at this camp.

Ansuya Rungasamy

A beautiful quiet time and bungalow and facilities.

Marthinus Bester

Overall good service and effective and helpful staff. Facilities clean and accommodation value for money

Adriaan Nieman

Loved the guest house soooo much, just wish the braai wasn't so far from the stoop.

Eloni Ludwick

Our stay at the different camps was absolutely fantastic. Each camp has its own unique charm and we enjoyed every moment of it. We relaxed; it was quite, clean, green and just overall “lekker”. I will definitely stay at each of the camps again and the staff was always friendly and helpful. Thanks for making our stay so memorable.

LYDIA DUNN

We love Satara camp. Camp is clean and so peaceful. We go to the Park to have a well deserved break and that's what we get every time.

LYDIA DUNN

The best position for a relaxed holiday with the most animal entertainment on your door step Definitely recommended by the bush doctor.

CYNTHIA ROBERTS

The most beautiful sunsets ever seen!!

Matthew Bowler

Beautifully renovated bungalows, very comfortable and clean. Found all the staff throughout the Park helpful and polite

Diana Robertson

A perfect accommodation for a stay in the Kruger Park.

Hans Ittmann

The best of the three.

Jonathan

Satara never disappoints - full but lovely camp site - clean ablutions - and the best game drive out of all the camps!! Great staff at reception, housekeeping & game ranger

ATHENA

This was our 3rd stay at Satara. The last was in 2010. We were so impressed with the upgrades to the ablutions and the overall maintenance at the camp. The pool was nice and clean. The staff was very competent and friendly. Well done KNP I will now recommend this camp to all I know. Great stay we were sad to leave.

Ronel

Camping site was clean, the bathroom were clean but there was no working soap dispenser. The night drive was very good, professional, Shop was well stocked, friendly staff at reception.

Qume Erasmus

This was a nice camp. the only problem is that there was load-shedding for both days. two hours the first day and most of the evening of the second day which was disappointing. We understand that it was not the parks fault.

MARIIUS PIETERSEN

I stayed at satara rest camp for 5 nights and found the staff and accommodation were fantastic. The bungalow chalets are well maintained and have all the equipment you need for cooking by braai and 2 hot plates and microwave. The added bonus is the visits that you may experience while sat with the braai. We had African Wild Cat, Honey badger and small spotted genet all scavenging for left over foods but this makes you aware of clearing up after yourselves and respecting the use of bins. Great stay.

Mick Gear

The camp is quite a big camp, with lots of facilities. The morning walk was great - we learnt how to track animals and were lucky enough to see wildebeest, lions, giraffe and white rhinos. On the sunset drive, we also saw lions and a black mamba.

James Stanley

Regular visitor to Satara and grand as always. Great atmosphere and superb night drive. Huts are excellent.

Hans

Excellent service, affordable camping, clean ablutions. Maybe more portable type of toilet along the long routes.

Gertjie Roets

The Accommodation is 5 * and the camp site is very neat and clean and we will definitely stay at Satara again.

Willie

Enjoyed my stay very much and reception were polite and efficient.

DAVID THISELTON

Happy

Dieter

Crowded but room to breathe and friendly staff

Jimmy Gurr

The new grass on roofs 117 up to 119 looks perfect

Pieter Cronje

Satara was great. We actually couldn't believe how well equipped the place was. The little rondavel had everything you'd need for an extended stay. From the cooking facilities & equipment to the braai to the air-con and fan to the comfortable beds and obviously the location inside the magnificent Kruger Park. Unfortunately we were only passing through and stayed for 1 night, but we wouldn't hesitate to stay for longer and actually wish we had.

kelvin

Had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. Will do it again

Anton Grundling

Lovely stay , great staff. The kitchen utensils could be improved. No small sharp knife or tin opener that worked. Hard to cope with if you are an overseas visitor!

monica Simpson

It was a new camp from 2013. The staff were fun to talk to the food excellent and we even bought a new pair of binoculars in the shop. The staff had been trained and this gave them confidence. The camp has always been clean and this trip was no exception. Congratulations

ANNE

We enjoyed our stay Very much, and we will recommend camping at SATARA RESTCAMP too, for sure.

Minky Cilliers

Lovely camp, saw plently animals around Satara, our best game viewing ever. Camp is lovely, ablutions are clean and well maintained. More gravel should be put down on the camp sites to prevent the terrible mud pools after the rain. We stopped at Tsokwane for lunch on the 28th and that was really disappointment. Food of very poor quality, bread rolls tasted like parafin, russian and chips was cold and old. My ham and cheese was not nice. The monkeys and baboons are out of control even attacking a group of patrons sitting at the table in front of use without being provoked. Very scary. KNP will always be our number one choice of holiday destination.

CHARMAINE WALKER

The camp's facilities are most comfortable and well thought out. Authenticity is obvious and the ambiance is inspiring. Definitely worth a stay, whether you are a local visitor or an international traveler wanting a uniquely South African experience.

Elaine von Howsslin

Reino Groenewald

What a wonderful place to stay. Again, everyone was friendly and helpful. Food was good at the restaurant. Especially enjoyed the wake up call of the monkeys and wart hogs outside our window in the morning!

LINDA CRAWFORD

As South Africans, Kruger is no longer a reasonable holiday which it is for overseas clients but we were so encouraged, by the way maintenance is being done - we needed a globe replaces and our toilet fixed both of which was done on the day we made our request, so well done to you on our most wonderful assett in South Africa, our Kruger Park

Pam Maynard

Myself and the 3 visitors with me found the accommodations to be most satisfactory at both camps. The staff at all the different venues we were at were knowledgeable and very hospitable. We would all highly recommend a visit to the Kruger to all our friends.Thank you for a wonderful experience in the Kruger Park.Joan Spice

Candis

Satara Restcamp is an ideal place to stay for lots of animals to see. The Little houses are perfect for staying over night and a few days with outside kitchen and grill to stay Independent, but Restaurants have also a good variety.

Conny Ahrens

Just Perfect

JAKUB KONOPCZAK

Lovely stay - very clean . Staff very helpful & friendly Did not use restaurant facilities We did find Berg-en-Dal superior to Satara, in accommodation - although price was the same

ELSA BUTLER

Loved it

Monique Venter

It is a vey nice camp to stay in and the Debonairs' pizzas we had were very tasty and nice and the people are very friendly. We saw the big five around Satara in 2 day's time. We booked there for next year again.

Was very good with an excellent view and we really enjoyed the stay there. The best camp in the Park.

Petrus Jacobus Niemann

Excellent!

Marthinus Stephanus Meyer

We enjoyed our stay. The park, rest camp and facilities were perfect

Gustav von Ludwig

As we had visitors from the UK who were very keen to see the Kruger Park, we booked into a guest cottage at Satara. There our son and daughter-in-law joined us for two nights. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well appointed. the staff were friendly, helpful, and considerate. Our sightings were fantastic - while we saw 'cat' only at a distance, we were blessed with the sighting of many elephants, waterbuck, zebra, giraffe, warthogs, baboons and much more. the camps we stopped at during our game drives were equally pleasant and well appointed. the shops, especially at Skukuza are great! the booking was made easily, and changed easily too - so a big 'thumbs up' to our booking agent!!! Our visitors are already looking forward to their next trip to Kruger.

Barbara Gregory

The drives were excellent The accomodation was basic The value for money was excellent

Simon Rey

The drives were excellent The accomodation was basic The value for money was excellent

Simon Rey

A lovely camp site but a bit large and needs more signs for navigation. Restaurant has lovely view over park.

Michael Martin

Service lacking a little bit by cleaning staff, but we had a lovely stay.

Laura Cameron

Game view was good. Good value for money. nice camp.

Desire Miller

It is the second time we have stayed in Satara and experienced an improvement in general service levels, the chalet was spotless and everything worked excellently. The outsourced restaurants is also a major improvement

DAWN ASPDEN

Excellent, had such a great time. Bungalow was very clean.

Gert DGe Jager

excellent.

R BOER

We were not on the perimeter fence this time, but still very much enjoyed our stay. reckon that SANParks accommodation is still some of the best, without getting too expensive.

MARGARET WYNNE

Comprehensively the best place and space to spend time seeing and experiencing nature as it was meant to be........peaceful, exciting, comfortable. Please keep it forever in its natural state.

Thomas Salt

Only hassle was at Shingwezsi during the day busy with the construction of chalets lot of noise you cannot enjoy the silence of the bush.VERY GOOD.

charles OReilly

Lovely, quiet, clean camp, staff very friendly. Had our best animal sightings here! Definitely on our list for future visits!

HEIDI VISAGIE

Loved our stay Satara! Going there again in October.

Noeline Bonner

We only stayed 1 night in Satara and we had a house at the perimeter. Which was really nice. The room was good and the outdoor kitchen was ok. We would really recommend doing the sunset-drive. The only thing that was annoying was the lady at the reception. She was so incredibly slow and uncooperative!

melanie Jong

No problems. Bungalow always very clean. One item of crockery missing when we arrived. Reported and soon sorted out. Staff did what was expected of them.Pity already booked out at Lower Sabie for the period that I wanted to go next year.

MARTIN BAIGEL

A good experience. Will be back. No complaints.

Gavin Vermoter

Excellent.

Jan Harmse

It was our first visit to the park & we loved it!!! We saw the big five & many other animals. It was a great experience & made us appreciate what we have in S.A. All staff members from the Paul Kruger gate to reception at Satara were so welcoming & great people, thank you for your hospitality & kindness. I have decided to visit the park every year now. The weekend that we visited was my birthday & the park made it the best birthday I ever had, thank you. My heart has stayed in the park. I will visit the park every year from here on out for my birthday. There are no gifts (material things) nor money that can make me as happy & content as I felt in the park.

Leverne Shoobert

We love going to the park and the accommodation is always comfortable and relaxed. It would have been great to have a shelf/hooks in the bathroom for clothing and a small shelf in the shower for toiletries. Other than that it was fantastic

Melissa Matthee

Kruger Park as it should be! Peaceful, neat, and the original "Rondawel" 10 out of ten!

S BOETTGER

Although we once again had a wonderful time, we found some concerning conditions which disturbed an otherwise awesome stay. These were:

Mark Lockwood

Goeie dag Dit was 'n wonderlike tyd in Satara. Sal enige tyd weer terug gaan daardie Kant toe. Baie dankie

Polly Kotze

Love the new upgraded bungalows and the restaurants is stunning, the food is good and the service excellent!Love the new upgrades!

Zelda Mathee

Good experience overall.

Christea de Bruin De Bruin

Thanks for a very pleasant stay in the park. We enjoyed it very much.

Magdalena Janse van Rensburg

Loved every second of it. Would visit Kruger National Park again.

Engela Potgieter

A very nice camp, the kitchen was well equipped although the hotplate didn't work very well. to have a microwave oven was a great addition.

Andrea Jackson

Satara is always a pleasure!

Jenny Locker

May be the guide of the night safari must talk to the other guides during the game drive to find the animals And it s a shame that tourists have to hold on the light during the safari.

roussier

The stay was fantastic and absolutely relaxing. The accommodation, service received 10 out of 10. The personnel are friendly and helpful. The new Mug & Bean at Satara is superb. We enjoy the info board to see what kind of animals were seen on the roads. Kruger is the best place to recuperate away from the hash and bash of the cities. Thank you once again.

Trienie Fourie

Still a beautiful camp, and very well kept despite the renovations going on. Everything in the huts were in working condition, very comfortable.

GERHARD POOL

Wonderful.

Gail Blunden

The restcamp is very clean!

Bettina Crispien-Steller

We've had a very nice stay in a relaxed atmosphere. Everything was just right!!

Ansie Kilian

Only overnighted.Facilities functional and camp well organised.

KEVIN TARRANT

Absolutely wonderful four days spent in the Kruger Park. Will definitely go again in the not too distant future. Will also definitely stay at other camps, not only Satara.

trevor coburn

It was the first time I have been in the Kruger National park since the flood of 2000. Although things have become a lot more commercialised and business orientated, I still experienced the same feeling as I had 14 +years ago. Satara Rest Camp was magnificent. Just as I remembered it but with some welcomed changes. I hope to visit the Park soon again and venture to other old memories throughout the park.Keep up the good work Kruger !

Hanno Viljoen

We had the best long weekend at Satara. The chalet was clean and well maintained. The daily cleaning service was excellent and overall the rest camp was one of the best we ever visited. We also went on a night drive and the game ranger leading the drive was insightful and friendly. Over all we had a wonderful experience.

Luzanne Rautenbach

We saw a soenie here. gompoue en bromvoels hier gesien. very nice camp

Gladys Martin

We had a lovely stay overall, as always.

Dalia Traca

Nice rest camp. Neat and clean

Franca Tavares

Satara was lovely and we saw a lot more game here than highre up in the park. The Honey Badger, Lion and Cheetahs were a highlight.

Margeaux Engelbrecht

Was good and bathrooms were clean! Thank you!

Peet Els

We enjoyed our stay in the park. The facilities were clean. I must commend on the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. We will surely return back next year.

Steve Venter

Always nice to stay in Satara

T. Visser

Lovely camp, really enjoyed our stay, pleasantly surprised that there is a Debonairs and Mugg and Bean operaional at this camp. Accommodation very nice with a wonderful view.

Karin Marx

Neat and clean chalet. Cleaning personnel very friendly. "Veldkombuis" (bush kitchen) excellent. Reception area neat with helpful staff. Attendants in shop can work on their "I am doing you a favour" attitude.

Karel Pelser

Restaurant over priced for us locals.

Joe Barclay

Circle C Bungalows need upgrading. No plug outlet in kitchen. No toaster.Poor lighting in kitchen.Air conditioner so noisy had to be replaced.Disappointing compared to our stay in 2011.

john weatherby-boehm

Our first visit to this camp which provided a fine base for that area of the Park.

Brian Dedman

Had a great time here. Our bungalows were pleasant, great location and enjoyed the morning walk. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

Pam Carlson

Great surroundings, good staff, clean and tidy camp and bungaloww

TONY GLASS

Great surroundings, good staff, clean and tidy camp and bungaloww

TONY GLASS

When entering the park I was told no alcohol was permitted and had to dump it (why was I not informed when I booked accommodation?) The ablutions at Satara camp where we stayed had a very unpleasant smell and not once did we see the cleaners. The food was horrible and at Skukuza the braai was not even ready at 11h00!

A A van der Berg

Jolanda Ferriera

Beautiful especially the way they have secured the fridge on the stoep of the bungalow. Exceptional service from the cleaner who found my husbands purse on the bed and return it to us via her manager without one cent missing. Her honesty and integrity was outstanding and we went back and compensate her for this. She should actually be rewarded even by the Park for her honest way in dealing with this situation.

Ansie Prinsloo

I found the facilities clean and well run. Staff were friendly which makes all the difference. Picnic spots are fantastic.

Paul Carter

Great rest camp, will be improved once the renovations are completed.

Mohit Jain

All the service provided is excalent . but the price for it high .Rest all are perfectly good .

SIVA

Satara camp is in need of some TLC. We were placed in circle C apparently circle a and b have been renovated. Would recommend that you place your guest in the renovated rondavals in future.

KIM WILSON

There is nothing wrong with the food, but, when asked about Tika Chicken, the waiter said "sauce" instead of " chilli sauce ".Anyway,my wife enjoyed the vegetables but had to leave the excessively hot chicken. There is something odd about the menus and the eating venus and the times you can eat this and when you cant order that.We needed to eat the stew (teeth problem) and were told we could order any time until the restaurant closed. At 1900 the menu with the stew was no longer on offer.Peaople stand around asking questions and getting no answers and even walking away. The problem could be easily solved by displaying quite a large bill board at the entrance telling visitors EXACTLY what the score is and when you can eat what.Members of staff are very pleasant but not sufficiently trained to be helpful.MANAGEMENT,MANAGEMENT,MANAGEMENT !!!!!

owen algar

Great stay, just to short to enjoy all the amenities

PHILIP COETZER

Baie dankie.

J Coetzer

Having a rest in the Kruger Park is always a relaxing experience. As a person I enjoyed the Park although plenty renovations are being done all over the park. My request to the park management is to make the camp sites more child friendly as we as a family spend some holiday time there. Children are not allowed to cycle or use the scooters in the camps. After all, we will not go to the park alone. Family experience is what counts

Anton Victor

Very good lodge and well equipped.

philippe lecomte

No coffee cups, dirty sheets. Ablution block at temp restaurant smells bad and is dirty.

Tineke Wilken

We had a wonderful trip, it was so nice we even extended our stay with an extra day.

Marchelle Venter

Satara was lovely, good rooms, spacious and very well-equipped. We had to work really hard to see the cats, but Satara gave us all 3!!!Will definitely return here.

Shaun Hansel

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. However I feel Satara needs to mark their camping sights clearer. As first time visitors to Satara we didn't know where we could stand, very confusing!

Tracy Louw

The old chalets need upgrading and so do the towels. Floors gritty from mopping on dirty floors...just spreading dirt around. Paving outside area to braai as in Pretoriuskop would alleviate much dirt. All just too old to sparkle up I'm afraid.

Wendy James

We had a great time in Kruger Nationalpark. We spent 3 days and 2 nights (Satara and Olifants rest camps). Both camps have a really good standard. All facilities are in a good condition, clean and safe. The staff is friendly and helpful. The offered products (such as meat and wine in the supermarket) have very good quality. The bungalows are well protected against mosquitos.

Florian Modlmayr

Stanley House has always been a favourite of ours but it seriously needs upgrading. The bathrooms have not been upgraded for 25 years and are in sore need of refurbishment. Only one shower in a 9 sleeper house is also a big problem. The TV did not work and the stove really needs replacement. We never the less had a great stay.

KEITH STEENHUISEN

This camp is average

G Van der Walt

Staff were friendly and helpful.Bungalow was clean and comfortable.

Erna

Satara is still the best. Place as nice and clean and all was working

Louise van der Merwe

Ablutiions unkept and smelling of urine.Cleaners seldom in attendance.Otherwise the camping area was well kept.

Gerhard Pretorius

Satara never ceases to amaze you. It is a great viewing area, lots of variety and clear views, follow the groups of cars and you will see everything. Great camp and shop, nice pool area, all in all a great place.

Morag Harris

We have enjoyed the trip and will do so again.

H van Rooyen

When we were driving from Skukuza to Satara it was a wonderful change of scenario... The vegetation changed abruptly and we could saw lots of zebras and buffaloes! We also saw a leopard during the sunset game drive... But I was kind of disappointed because I thought we would see cheetah there but the guide told us it wasn't possible in the Satara. But I read that Satara is the cats area! I also didn't like the sunset game drive because the guide didn't want to stop to see Waterbucks and others animals that we would like to see and take a picture... It seemed like he wanted to go home and was in a hurry!

Tatiana

Was very nice except we heard music in the evening from the staff quarters or someone house right behind our chalet. That low noise of bass that was not nice.

Johan du Preez

The game was as usual very good with 4 lions seen very close up.

Roger Grigg

We loved the park. Staff friendly and helpful.A were disappointed with the bungalows. Our bungalow Aircon didn't work and there was no fridge. We were moved to another one, much better but fridge didn't work this time as well.Kindly swopped out the next day.Considering the cost per night I think better quality could be expected.Note also experienced many cars speeding.Thank you!

Mark Robert

On arrival, noted that we were not booked into a unit that we had asked for - i.e. air conditioned bungalow with kitchen + utensils + shower/loo etc. Not too sure where the mess up occurred as we have booked through you on numerous occasions - and never had a prob. So we were shifted to another Unit D23 for one of the 2 nights booked - which had a mildly cool fridge - needs to be replaced, and a kettle that didn't work - Oh, and no water - but that effected the majority of the camp. The 2nd nite, we were shifted to another Unit - one without cooking /utensils etc - which meant having to pay higher than normal prices for plates/spoons/knife etc at the in camp store. So, overall, not the best trip wev'e had. Sorry, but you asked!

Roger le Guern

Exciting.Facilities very neat. Service outstanding. To be repeated

Deon Smit

Our stay at Satara was stunning - we just struggled with no warm water in the shower for a few days. The restaurant at Satara should think about selling hamburgers and toasted sandwiches please.

M Minnaar

Brilliant camp and location of chalet

Brian Drury

The camp is in a good location for game viewing. the bungalows need some refurbishment. The restaurant supplies good food for a good price.

Walter Kovarik

No restaurant open. The variety of food in the shop was low.

Paul Nienaber

What an enjoyable relaxing time we had. Thanks for keeping the place clean and tidy. My visits to the various camps have always been relaxing and everyone is always so friendly and helpful. Only one suggestion

Lydia Dunn

The camp was dirty and untidy, the grass in the centre of the circle of huts where we stayed, had not been mowed and was long. There was litter in the grass and the dustbin lid was broken.

Jane Walker

Wir genossen Satara mit der schönen Anlage und einem grosszügigen Haus (4Pers.). Sehr netter Empfang an der Reception. Wir fühlten uns sehr wohl und genossen die 3 Tage hier.

Marlise Streich

The accommodation was very good value for money and had most of all the basic necessities. It would have been nice to have had a toaster.

Deslie Acton

We must not forget that the camp and buildings are old and need a very big face lift. The room was kept clean and we had good help from the cleaner. We liked the wind screens placed around the braai. The game in this area was very good. Thank you.

Tony Hunt

Very satisfied with this camp. The outside kitchen is very useful and nice. The only negative point is the animals : honey beaver looking for food every where and scaring people in the dark

AURELIA RANSOM

Nice camp! To bad the restaurant was closed and the foor provided was not nice at all.

Sabine Van rooijen

Really impressed that they provided microwave ovens and everything worked. Also loved the extended covered verandah which provided much needed shade from the heat.

Shirley Dunkley

To Whom It May Concern I refer to your e-mail regarding the Satara Rest Camp, where we stayed in GH6, Wells Guest House. The actual location of the Satara Rest Camp and the guest house were fantastic. However, I felt there was a limited amount of wine and other beverages on the menu, as well as food items e.g. health breakfast etc. We also stayed at other guest lodges

NIGEL CONES

The camp itself looked "tired". The inside of the two bedroom unit showed major signs in lack of maintenance. Night drive was superb and proved to be a "MUST".

Jan Serfontein

The only comment I have, is that the conservancy fees should be included in the original booking fee, it came as a bit of a surprise when we checked in. This should be included in the initial booking fee, or should be specifically mentioned how much on check in would have to be paid.

Tana Viviers

Perfectly comfortable and clean, spacious accommodation, we even managed to see a honey badger which came to our bungalow in the middle of the night! The unit is private enough for a couple

Nicki Duff

The cottage was seedy and neglected, the bedclothes filthy.

Werner Hoenig

Great game viewing

Marius Kuhn

Every stay in the Kruger Park is an experience. Nothing can beat having a braai in the Kruger Park and listening to the sounds of the animals. Our stay have been amazing and I will be staying there again the end of February

Lydia Dunn

Camp was a little big but very good, accommmodation was ideal for what we wanted.

Hilary Harrow

We arrived in the rain and on the way to Satara we saw wild dog elephant giraffe and a number of antelope. Our stay at Satara was great met some great people and made friends with folk from Australia, we had great fun in the pool with their children. We saw an enormous amount of game including a Caracul on the way to Timbivati picnic spot. We were very sad when I time ran out as we had a great time. The only disappointment was when we arrived at Orpen Gate we were told the road was closed due to the rain and we had traveled 40 Km from the main road a sign would have been great.

Richard Uys

I feel the levy to pay per day is astronomical. There should be a once off entrance fee irrespective of how long your stay.

Avril Stuck

Chalets is nice and clean, only the food at the Restaurant, they can really do something about that, not good at all.

MARIA KRITZINGER

Camp was a bit full and we didn't get a nice spot, but otherwise very happy!

Christo du Plessis

Best holiday in a many years. We will be back but with more family members

Patricia Moolman

We arrived at satara on the 20th December. The staff at reception were very friendly. Payed and made our way to the campsite. After setup we went to the Bar/Resturant. To find out there was no bar. They have sings up saying the bar serves fresh cool castle lager on Tap. To find out it's a castle larger tin that they pour into a glass. The beer was not cold at all. We decided to sit down at the Resturant and get a meal. This was at 2:45pm. My wife asked for a BBQ WRAP and I ordered a Bacon&Chz; burger. The food came out in 5min. The bacon on the burger was from the breakfast shift. It was dry and hard. The party was rubbery. I could not eat it at all. My wife Beef BBQ wrap was disgusting. They had stuck it in an oven. The bottom was burnt. The lettuce inside was all soggy, the meat was very very tuff. It was not nice at all. The two weeks we stay at satara were not nice. We would drive to Skukuza to go to the shop there and buy stuff. As it was a much better shop. The staff were so friendly. Had lunch at the Resturant with the train and loved it. Good food good service. On our last day we decided to try the Resturant again in satara. Ordered a club sandwich to share. What a mistake it was. Dry bread, a chicken breast so rough and dry. It was no fun at all. So we payed and left. We then stopped in hayzeview to get some food. Satara was not nice at all. Very upset with the place. Won't be staying at the park again.

Timothy Rose

I would say the overall experience was excellent. The only issue i have is , at the rondavels the dustbins are not secured against invaders like monkeys and honey badgers . Altough there are bins in teh camp areas that are secured against this . it is not fun to have to clean up after these invaders every morning . It is a simple fix .

Bart Schurink

Despite the constant rain we experienced we had a great time and saw a wide variety of animals and birds. We found the booking process quick and efficient and constant follow up by Tanya until process completed. The camp facilities were good, clean and tidy with all we needed. Some of the corrugated roads were most uncomfortable to navigate, distracting from the purpose of being there but overall a good experience and looking forward to going there again soon.RegardsAlan and Gina

Alan Bion

A clean room, however there was no hand soap by basin. Our guide on the night drive tried very hard to locate lions and our 2 hour drive ended up being 2.5 hours which I appreciated. No lions unfortunatly.

Maraldine Kriel

Overall an amazing experience from start to finish. You can feel the pride the staff have in their camp. Beautiful landscaping, excellent bungalow, very efficient check-in and great food/service at the restaurant.. Overall and fantastic experience.

PETER MCGINLEY

Very nice camp, had good amenities in the units

Paul Nelson

We had a lovely time at Satara, we saw a lot of game and had a good camping experience. However the pool was very dirty and it was unpleasant to swim in. It was very hot and would have liked for the pool to be clean and usable.

Michelle Tobias

Getting ready to book our next trip to Kruger! An amazing experience, saw so much and the rondavel was perfect for us. Highly recommend Satara Camp.

Saskia Covington

We had a lovely time and would visit Satara again any time. We also had bats in our room but we were already used to them by now....The only problem we had at our unit, was that the shower did not work properly and we could not shower at all. It would have been more pleasant if it was working.

Nadia Janse van Rensburg

Satara has an abundance of wildlife which is brilliant. We had a few issues with our bungalow but got attended speedily. That camp wants for nothing, the only suggestion i would make is for the upgrade of the bungalows. People will still stay there as the game viewing is excellent. The perimeter views are beautiful.

Nicky Dewar

The bungalow was clean and the reception staff friendly. The grass between the bungalows haven't been watered or cut for ages and were overgrown. Again the camp just looks tired and run down. If you think that you are paying about R1000 per night excluding meals this is not good value for money. Yes one does go for the wild life experience which is the priority but it seems that the Kruger is intent on pricing itself out of the market. I can stay at upmarket 4-5 star Bed and breakfast establishments for the same amount.

George Van Der Merwe

The chalet was one of the best. We all loved it. The bathroom facilities as the offices was not working and not clean at all. swimming pool was not cleaned every day.

Isobel

Kruger is always an experience and very relaxing, will certainly visit again. The cafeterias however need to be jacked up and more friendly, only a little bid of training needed!

ML Muller

Always enjoy our trips to the park. Very hot so aircon in our room was battling a bit but other than that it was a wonderful stay.Thanks.

Cliff Burnill

Suggest not to camp in December/January as it was very hot but besides that we saw plenty of animals on the tarred roads around Satara. Saw the big 5 in one day by leaving camp early. The sighting board outside reception was full every day. The area around Satara very open so sightings were easy. Will definately be back

LYNETTE MENEELY

Had a great night, at one of my favourite camps. No problems.

Paul Nelson

Excellent camp and well managed by Gordon Ramsden.

Ray Cooper

The stay was nice. Just very hot and dry, office staff can be a little friendlier...

Esme van der Watt

We were very glad we decide this year on air cons when we decided to go away for a December holiday. Except for the toilet that was leaking and kept on flooding the chalet -the rest of the experience was awesome - and we will back in the next year and not take 2 years again to visit. And seeing that this was our first stay in the wildtuin - it will be the 1st choice from now on.

Donita Visser

This was the worst camp! Derelict buildings (I think it was an ablution/laundry?) laundry was out of order, shop and restaurant was mismanaged i.e. queues out the door and only one teller,( we had two ice lollies that melted before we could pay for them) and the food teller was no better ... very disappointed.

D Renell

Excellent: lots to see, lots to do. The staff of Satara rest camp (all of them )is what service excellence is all about. Proactive in every aspect. I will be back and will recommend this camp at any time, well done.

John Kearney

We liked the bungalows, although they start to be a little bit worn down. The camp was well organized, the evening tour in which we participated was a big success. We liked the friendliness of the staff. We were less thrilled by the swimming pool which looked like it had not received fresh water in a while. All in all, a very good experience.

Jonas

20 out of 10 Just excellent. Seen the Big five twice in one day and all the young animals and the birds awsome. even wild dog on three occations an cheetha twice. The service is also flawless. Just one suggestion - cant the parks maybe look at a way of controlloing the internet through a LAN system to reduce the Rino poaching?

Mr G Prinsloo

an amaizing trip...but you need to have a 24 hour emergency number...our car broke down outside a camp at 18h00...we couldnt arrange anything until the next morning

DEBBIE GORDON

Very nice accommodation, comfortable and clean. Would absolutely recommend this to friends and hope to return in the very near future.

Devon Baker

Another great camp to stay at while travelling around Kruger

Paul Robinson

Very good!

Siebler Matthias

Very good!

Siebler Matthias

What an unbelievable experience! Thank you.

Brent Coertzen

The lodge was clean and well kept. We booked for the Parks's sunset and sunrise drives. The rangers were OK but did not strike us as doing their best to spot the animals!

"Travel lady"

Love the Kruger, the camp was nice. Something need to be done about the ablutions, its always wet inside the showers. But everybody using the shower, toilet or basin needs to clean up (dry up)after using the facility. Maybe some more mops, and towels could be placed on strategic places inside of the ablution so the everybody can help dry up after use. Another big disappointment was the restaurant, the beer was warm, and the food old and below average. But the shop was excellent, the evening shows great and the swimming pool good. Had a nice stay.

Hans van Staden

Thank you so much, wonderful to go back each year. Love the camp and animals, lovely to see the honey badgers in camp

Elvene Coetzee

We wish we had stayed here longer and we will be returning to Satara. There is more game in and around Satara and we generally liked being more central in the Park. My only comment is that the Satara Park Shop and the restaurant have the most SHOCKING service, with no clue how to solve problems or provide a better service to customers. Waiting in the queues at the restaurant is painful, the breakfast was made from what looked like plastic or powdered scrambled eggs, and we were generally disappointed. Also - what is the point of having electric fencing around the perimeter when the electric wires on the trees (see attached photo) are broken and mangled? What kind of image is this setting for foreigners and tourists? It looks unkempt and dilapidated. It was disappointing to see.

wendy marshall

Terrible accommodation. With a quick glance it looks clean but it is not clean. The walls were very dirty. We had a geyser burst which was handled very well by management.

Was special seeing the hyena just outside the fence of the rest camp!

Orpwood

Really hot day and the ice machine was broken. Headed off to the pool to find it was very dirty. Found lots of clumps of hair in it, and the water was green. Saw lion stalking close by the camp - unfortunately no kill. Didn't enjoy all the thorns around the camp site.

Orpwood

It's been ten years since we last stayed at one of the chalets in the Kruger Park. We visited with our friends who stayed in a separate chalet. On arrival we realized that our chalets were self catering, but did have cutlery, a kettle, dish washing facilities, plates, cups and we were also not informed that these chalets were not equipped as such. Our chalet was also not fitted with a fridge, but fortunately we were able to use our friends' fridge.Apart from this it was visible how littering increased in the Park and that service at the camp restaurants are not good.Besides the above comments we enjoyed our stay.

Francois Niemand

Very poorly equipped bungalow for self- catering. No kettle, no toaster, no chopping board, no serving bowls. The very bare basics. But they were very obliging to give us what we need. The first bungalow Aircon not working.Best place about the camp is the magnificent shop-really good stuff and the restaurant makes good daily special meals-like home cooking.

G.Godfrey

I bought a Wildcard here. After returning home you shall make a WILD CARD APPLICATION COMPLETION on the internet. Because they had a incorrect phone number I couldn't make it. Despite I wrote to Sanparks twice for help, They didn't answer my email.

Johnny Madsen

Daniel Siller

Really great. Well maintained and spotless. What a pleasure!

audrey steele

ons het n wonderlike tyd gehad! daar was so baie diere in die omgewing, veral op die s100. die kamp is netjies en die personeel vriendelik! ons hut was skoon en goed gelee.

Qume Bezuidenhout

The Satara camp accommodation was small and my wife felt uncomfortable going out of the hut after dark. The game ride was great even though we did not see a lot of animals. We have always loved Kruger Park.

R Albrecht

Very enjoyable trip, saw lots of animals, one negative thing about the trip, need to state whether or not the park fees are included, I would rather pay for the park fees in the first payment than have to sort it out there, but overall had a really good time and will return.

Christopher Fox

Dit was baie lekker, het dit baie geniet, het baie gesien en sal dit weer doen.

Edrich

What a wonderful & well maintained camp. Loved our stay - should have been there longer - but next time will be.Thanks to the friendly staff - it was lovely.Saw loads of game birds here - great stay.

Madelein Ackermann

The bungalow was neat & tidy & well serviced every day by friendly staff.Every night we were visited by a Honey Badger & two occasions by a wild cat.The bird life within the camp was exceptional. The drives around Satara produced great game viewing & between Satara & Tshokwane we followed a pride of 21 lions for a few kms. We will definitely go back to Satara in 2013.

David Barry Burnill

Ons het dit baie geniet. Verblyf goed, en baie natuurlik. Het baie wild gesien. Sal beslis weer Satara besoek.

PP Gouws

A honey badger coming silently alongside the stoep when sitting there at night was a bit frightening.

Gunvor Lundfelt

When you stay at night and use the restaurant, the variaty of food was in our period (end of november)minor. Another item is when you stay at several camps they offer almost all the same.

Marlies Vermeesch-Holtmann

Baie warm, maar die lekkerste besoek van al ons besoeke in die wildtuin...

Venter H J

We had a great time in the Kruger park. The accommodations was perfect, the beds were better than our own beds. Thank you.

Mstolten

This camp looks run down. It is old and not well maintained. The Bungalows were not very clean, some did not have soap in it etc. Although we had a great night drive, I will not visit Satara again.

Janette Wassung

The accommodation was good, good pool, the shop was very nice - we love the manager, Stan - helpful guy. We saw lots of lions, which you can do easily from your own vehicle. Don't bother with the safari tours they offer, you'll be put in an overcrowded jeep, make sure you're there early to get a good seat, and if you do the night drive-get your hands on a spotlight, otherwise your dependent on traveler/idiots who don't know to handle the thing and you see nothing-fat chance you see nothing anyway at night-don't bother-stay in your own vehicle-be patient and you see lions - they are there!

Sabi Lena Catz

Lovely having the game visible from the camp. Real feeling of being closer to the game.

Peter Rosmarin

When we arrived, we were very nicely received by Thembi, who introduced us the camp and its facilities. We booked a Game drive, which allowed us to see three of the Big Five and we found the other ones alone. We initially planned to have a game walk, but we found that the fees were a bit high; as the weather was not great, it made our decision. In terms of value for money, we found that the full breakfast was overpriced and the menu of the restaurant was a bit poor. But the global experience was good and we will do it again.

Jean-Francois

A lovely camp and great game viewing.

Mr J Campbell

My husband and I had 2 nights in Satara, we loved the bungalow as it had lots of room and fantastic self catering amenities. We enjoyed watching the birds that came to our table to say hello, along with the monkeys who swept through the camp late afternoon. Just be careful and don't leave any food out as they get quite hungry. I would definitely suggest Satara as a camp to stay at while in Kruger, ample game viewing as we seen lions, rhino, giraffe, lots of buffalo and elephant.

Geraldine Toole

Satara was a welcome change after Pretoriuskop camp. The outlet at Satara had almost everything one could perceptibly imagine to get in a National Park! The sole male elephant's arrival just outside the fence was a treat indeed !

Seema

The time I spent in the park was great I got to see so much game and birds, the only let down was the camp it self, I did not take much food with as I would normally eat out at the camp. This was my first trip to Satara and I thought it would have the same level of service and food as the other camps I have been to. I was wrong, most of the food was poorly prepared and the food you could buy from the little shop was rotten or going rotten, I ended up going to other camps to eat and buy food for the trip. The loo's and shower where only cleaned once a day and I found it to be dirty more often than not. Will I go back - well yes - but not to this camp.

Willem

Clean, comfortable, great view into the bush from bungalow, Elephants at night near the fence

Christine Hoehne

Very Good - one comment for all three places, why only single beds??

Pierre

Kitchen not far from Bungalow.Good reception and shopping facility.Restaurant averageThe place was clean. Then it started raining!Would come back again.

The booking process was fantastic - very easy and efficient - thank you very much. The position of our rondavels was also perfect. The servicing of the rooms requires some attention. Thanks.

Enjoyed Satara - everything very good.

Denise

It was fantastic!Thank you.

W Gerrits

My trip was great and the accommodation exactly as I expected. Thanks! The booking process set up is a bit confusing as I made two consecutive bookings and received two reference numbers, one of which being a combined booking reference. Therefore when I paid into both references the repetition meant that it appeared as if I had underpaid. This was sorted out with several emails by the time I entered the park. The wildcard purchase I made was disappointing, The card only arrived 8 months after the purchase and I had to pay more than I was supposed to because I was not recognised for working in the country nor told that this was an available option. Because of these problems I will not buy a wildcard again.

Tim Bray

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the KNP, the sightseeing was heart warming and refreshing. However, the room we occupied was dusty as well as the Aircon and nearly spoiled our fun we were both sneezing non stop. I even thought we were going to catch some kind of a flu bug. But overall we enjoyed our stay

Sello Seoka

Love Satara, staff helpful, amenities good.

Pauline Hildebrandt

Our experience was a thoroughly enjoyable one.

Pendray Banks

We thoroughly enjoyed out two nights' camping at Satara. The staff were pleasant, the ablutions clean and well-maintained. We had a meal at the restaurant and were perfectly happy with both the food and the service. Our only criticism of this camp is the very neglected garden in front of the restaurant - a real shame that no weeding or maintenance has been carried out there for quite some time - it rather spoilt the overall image of Satara.

Clyde Wilson

Very nice!

MRS C J WELMAN

We had a family member that injured her eye on the way to Satara, (a scratch from her grandsons nail) we enquired at your office if they had a medical bag, knowing that there must be a eye-patch (cap) and some eye ointment in there. They referred us to the manager's office because the medical bag is with him. We went there and needless to say they had a doctors bag available with all the antidote in there, but nothing general, not even a plaster, I asked if the shop will have any patches, and i was told that he wasn't sure, i must have a look for myself. (Nothing in the shop) our family member had a terrible weekend, driving around with a hand towel over her face the whole time. Please make sure that your medical bags are up to date and fully equipped for any small incident.

We had previously stayed for two nights in a two bedded bungalow with a mattress for my daughter, moving for one night to this new upgraded three bedded bungalow which made such a wonderful experience. A bigger room, shower door and bigger fridge made all the difference.

P D J Botes

We had a great time in the Kruger park. The accommodations was perfect, the beds were better than our own beds. Thank you.

Mstolten

Our stay in the park was very pleasant with one exception namely at the Nkuhlu picnic spot there was no water - toilets were overflowing and not being attended to, and the staff weren't very interested in the situation. I hate to think what overseas tourists thought of this. Also some effort should be made to control the monkeys.Satara was fine however the stove did not warm up which was irritating.I wondered whether the Park made use of "grey water"? Also to conserve water I thought it unnecessary to provide clean towels every day.Overall a pleasant trip.

Hall-Jones

A very pleasant camp to stay in . Good ablutions.Well maintained.

MALCOLM GETKATE

Ou bungalow was not fancy, but it was clean and comfortable. It was quite cold at night, but extra blankets were provided and we were good. Very happy with our stay

Chris Bailey

The evening drive was excellent. Our guide was excellent. The lady at reception was very helpful.

PK WARD

We've taken 4 night drives now in our visits to Kruger. The first two were disappointing; the third was nice and the one we took on the evening of 23 October 2010 was unbelievable. Edward, from Satara, was our guide. He stretched a 2 hour night drive into 3 hours--3 hours packed with wonderful sightings. Edward was an exceptional guide with very good knowledge of the animals. During the drive we saw elephants and rhino as well as a number of bucks. We were thrilled when we saw a leopard and then a second. But the biggest thrill came with the sighting of the third leopard--stalking a porcupine! We even got to see a Serval and two civits. Wow, what a night! My wife and I came home and had a hard time getting to sleep because of the fantastic trip. We look forward to our future Kruger trips. I must say that Kruger never disappoints. No two trips are the same, but just when you think you've seen it all, you get a wonderful surprise. We also thank the God who created all these wonderful creatures and the wonderful staff at Kruger for making the experience something we long to repeat over and over. Thanks!

Michael Brunk

Fantastic! Every day brought with it new and enjoyable experiences that my wife and I will treasure for the rest of our lives.

Great value for money. Staff very friendly.Bungalow was very comfortable and clean.

Rangers were excellent and very informativeInteracted well with party. Felt safe.Enjoyed immensely. Would certainly go again.

The Accommodation was fine no problems, all that I could say is that the camp's inner circle was not as neat as previously visited.

Martin Fraser

Nice and open.

K Joubert

Check-in was very smooth. Camp was comfortable and clean.

Virgil Palmer

Early morning drive was beautifulDue to strike, there was a lower service in restaurant but still ok.

Karin Graf

Satara is a very nice camp, but I will not stay over here again. The campers are too noisy and they play music at night, I could not even hear the lions. There was also an idiot that drove right up to a lion in a area where he was not supposed to drive, he scared the lion away and all of the other people standing there waiting for the lion to move had to turn around because this stupid person drove right into the bush.

FJ Nel

This was totally great. Saw lions on several occasions as well as their cubs. Would like to see the cheetahs and leopard, but we will visit again.

C Lombard

We really enjoyed our holiday in the Kruger Park - we camped and the ablution blocks were very clean and well kept. I would recommend camping in the Kruger because it is cost effective and great fun. Satara was clean and tidy, but I would recommend to people that the shops in the park are very expensive - it felt as if the stuff in the shops was only for overseas visitors. other than that we enjoyed our stay and are planning another trip next year

Cecilia van Wyk

Just great, we had a wonderful time! Can'twait for our next trip to Kruger Park!

A. Gullett

Satara se uitleg is goed, alhoewel dit baie droog is, sal beter wees met mooi gras. Satara is die beste plek om te bly, want daar is die meeste diere, ons het binne 2 dae die groot 5 gesien en elke dag leeus. As ek weer sou gaan sal ek beslis weer by Satara bly.

Ronel Steenkamp

Have noted that overall - very pleasant - don`t spend much time in the chalet - but with the fees going up by more than 10% per annum - the chalets are still the same old units with 1980s aircon units - which are terribly noisy -insufficient cutlery - we now bring our own. Increase fees by all means - BUT use the money to renovate the chalets.

It was amazing ! Friendly staff , good food , clean rooms , shops full of stock , well done. Will be back and will recommend to others. Lady that took us on sunset drive at Lower Sabie was great, full of info sorry cant recall her name. NB Get the correct glasses for the correct drink at your restaurants.

Thank you for asking. We had a wonderful time!We will see you again soon!

My son and his new wife enjoyed a Lowveld honeymoon and when they got to the Kruger park they enjoyed it so much that they made a reservation for another two days. They saw all the animals except the leopard so they certainly have to go back for that. Thanks again for every thing

Satara is a lovely camp, but the bungalows need a bit of attention. Our bungalow needs new aircon, as the noise it made was terrible! The grounds are lovely with amazing bird life.Excellent game viewing!!Friendly staff

We had a wonderful two days and one night in the Park. I must commend Satara on their brilliant service, cleanliness of the bungalow and friendly staff in the shop. My last experience in the park was awful and I was a little reluctant to go again but am so pleased now that I chose Satara, what a beautiful camp!

We travelled up from the Paul Kruger Gate and had a wonderful 2 days in the Satara area. Lions were plentiful and we had many wonderful sightings. We also saw huge herds of 200-300 buffalo and many elephant. Special sighting of a sable antelope male, black backed jackal, hyena and a leopard in a tree at Sonop w/h. Also lots of birds - kori bustard, secretary bird, ostrich and a new one for us - double-banded sandgrouse and of course the scops owl in the camp. Staff at the camp were great but the beers could have been colder (it was 40 degrees outside). Rooms were basic but clean and airconditioned! Worth every cent!

The Zululanders

We enjoyed our stay at Satara. We would definitely return.

Amanda Labuschagne

Too busy and bungalos too close to each other. Lots of animals though.

Tobie Pretorius

we will bring our Canadian friends to come and visit your camp

Bob Stander

My wife and I stayed in Satara for the whole week and was blown away by all the game that we saw! From a herd of Sable antelope to a Lion/buffalo kill at the Nsemani dam! We saw what felt like millions of Impala, thousands of buffalo, hundreds of elephants, plenty giraffe, plenty rhinos, 4 cheetahs, we stopped counting lions at 60! It was just amazing how many young animal we saw! In the end we did not even drive around anymore - we chose a couple of dams where we just sat and enjoyed the peace and quite and anything that came around! We will have to buy a new bird book - we completely destroyed ours by having to page around so much! It was great and we are already booked for March in Satara again...with friends!

Rian Herselman

Bungalows poorly equipped in terms of kitchen utensils.Certainly below what one would expect at the price. Poor image.

Arend Venter

My son stayed here. Just bathroom needs a re-tile, very small. Came to eat with us but also nice new fridge.

Franklin

Good sightings drive up to Satara, huts clean, chopping board had to be scrubbed with Jik. Basic cutlery and crockery ok. Lovely new fridge! Stupid dustbin in kitchen but lovely that we saw the 2 honey badgers come to eat out of our bin and the big black bins they knock over early! Beds comfortable, clean recently re-tiled. New outdoor furniture, lighting good in hut improvement to last years Letaba! Did not try restaurant but movie evening was good. Renovating our circle so bit irritated with workmen and knocking during day. Good drives good sightings. Think Camp shops really improved at lot, well done. Pls catch the people who kill our Rhinos! Efficient entrance to park, new drive through system.

Franklin

Bungalow we stayed in was upgraded very nicely. We didn't need to take all those extras along that we used to require, eg: 2 plate stove!

Had a very nice time thank you. Ablution blocks were reasonable.

Great camp, and thanks to the ranger who found my camera on the sunset drive and handed it in. I can now believe their are honest people around.

Robin Slater-Jones

Satisfactory, but only one plug in room without kitchen.

N J Morris

Satara was splendid. Lovely bungalow, spacious and fairly private. The kitchen was also well equipped. Will definitely visit Satara again. Game viewing in this area was great.

For the second time in my life I visited the Kruger National park. It was also the second time that I had the pleasure in staying at Satara camp. We camped out for four nights and what an experience! Not only did we see some of the most amazing sunrises and sunsets, but the facilities were clean and the personnel very friendly. Thank you to Satara camp for making this little vacation something to remember.

It was wonderful to stay over at Satara Camp.

Only blip on an otherwise excellent stay was the slow and unfriendly staff working as cashiers in the shop.

Christoff Opperman

Good value for money. Staff were fantastic, really helpful. they deserve a pat on the back.

Saw a lot on our days drive from Skukuza to Satara via Lower Sabie. Lion and Cheetah were seen on our way out of Orpen gate.

The evening drive was excellent. Our guide was excellent. The lady at reception was very helpful.

PK WARD

Everything in order, except the main light in the bedroom. Didn't report . Chalet placement also lovely, the birds and buck were a delight.

A. Armstrong-Campbell

Hi ThereLet me start by saying thanks to the lady who arranged everything for us at Accomodation Direct, absolutely outstanding service. Then the friendly staff at Satara camp on our arrival, they made us feel at home the moment we stepped in to the reception door. The bungalow was very clean and accommodated us with a mattress for our daughter, and was ready by the time we got to our bungalow. We saw all the wildlife we could possibly hope for bar the leopard. What an amazing place, Satara rest camp is.

Innes van Niekerk

Morning!!! Even though we had a terrible time due to a breakdown, we had an overall WONDERFUL time in Kruger!!! Thanks for doing your best to re-allocate our booking to Satara!!! Will definitely go back!!!

Leona Oosthuizen

This trip was everything we hoped it would be and more! We were lucky enough to see a lion kill on a night drive and a large herd of buffalo. The overall number of animals we saw was incredible and worth the money we spent on the accommodation in Satara. The price of the organized wildlife drives was very reasonable indeed and the night drive is a must. We mainly did our own self-drive safari though. The only negative of the experience was the communal cooking facilities. This was only 2 hot plates for what must have been over 10 huts and so massively inadequate. There is a braai for each hut though and so we ended up having packed lunches and then a braai for dinner. Could not recommend enough for wildlife spotting.

James Walker

Wow, in 5 days we have seen so many animals, beautiful sightings of giraffe, lions crossing the road, hippo and elephants wallowing... great. We were next to the fence here too in our rondavel, and saw buffalo from the verandah whilst having Amarulas! Braaied each evening and just chilled. Thanks to the Parks staff for a wonderful holiday.

Margaret Wynne

We saw lots of different prides of lion around Satara-especially on the S100.Had a wonderful time.

Iona Esterhuysen

The bush had plenty of grazing and lots of water points which made the game viewing spectacular.

KAREN BEDFORD

The unit was nice and the kitchen complied with what was expected. The camp layout and restaurant was nice, but not as beautiful as Lataba

We had a fantastic time while in Kruger staying at Satara. One thing could use improvement. The bees and birds made it hard to enjoy the restaurant at Lower Sabie. A screened porch around the tables would greatly improve things.

Robert Knight

This is not a nice camp. Hardly any shady trees. Abulion was good

Dr. Tienie van Staden

The bungalow had a brilliant view, situated next to the fence of the camp.Satara is the best area in the Kruger park to see Lions. We saw 19 Lions in the area around Satara on our way out of the Park.I hope to visit this camp again very soon.

JEANNE EKSTEEN

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Satara Rest Camp recently. All the Park staff were so friendly and helpful. The facilities in the rest camp are very nice and adequate for everything you may need. I only have one complaint. We went to go eat in The Tree restaurant one night and we were appalled by the service. As South African Citizens we actually were ashamed at the level of service the people and especially the foreigners were receiving. The waiters hardly spoke any English, and were not even paying attention to the people coming in at the door. A lot of people were just standing around waiting for some one to help them. The waiters also had no clue what was going on on the menu.We were prepared to pay high prices as we know they cater for the foreigners, but I was shocked to see what you get for the money you pay. The steaks were more like minute steaks and yet they still charge you for a proper size steak in any other restaurant. The Pizza was the worst! You pay R70 for a tiny pizza that is topped with Cheddar cheese and NOT Mozarella, I must be honest it was the worst pizza I had ever had! I don't mind paying the high prices, but then at least serve decent food! And you must not for one moment think the foreigners don't know that the food does not taste good. We spoke to a few of them and they were all very disappointed with the restaurant.I really hope you take this letter seriously and give some attention to the restaurant, as I can guarantee you it will make a huge difference to everyone's experience at the Satara Camp.Kind regards,Christi

Had my best time while staying at Satara. Saw a lot of animals. People are friendly. Keep up the good work.

For the first time Satara camp was not that good. There was little or no water for most of our stay in the bathrooms and was not as clean as other times, specially ladies site. The park was good. Two dead rhinos next to Olifants road. This was shocking. Please check the field stafffor maybe inside jobs.

D.S. van Staden

Hot dry and dusty. But we really enjoyed ourselves

B Anderson

We saw animals in abundance around our favorite camp in the park

Kitta Hattingh

Staff can do with more training in public relations in shops. Goods and accommodation priced for a captive market. Roads can do with some grading and potholes repaired. Park and nature as wonderfull as ever.S taff at Numbi gate friendly and helpfull.

mervyn lieberthal

Thanks for the great time, very clean and all staff very pleasant.

Denise

Nice accomondation. Clean rooms and nice hospitality, but the food could be better.

PETER SCHINGENGA

Bungalow very comfortable but a bit soulless... having come from the tented camp felt that it was quite noisy with busses and 4x4's charging around till late at night. Loved the Scops Owl who sits there all day and lets people take photos!

Sarah de Kock

We enjoyed our visit tremendously, we saw a large variety of animals. The weather was wonderful. Will do it again.

C Venter

Everything was great and the units where in great shape! Staff was freindly and helpful! Enjoyed the experience and so did my clients!Thank you

ROY VERMAAK

Reception, excellent. Staff at the shop wonderful. The chalet was clean, but the bedding is old and torn. There are no plugs at the kitchen, so you have to boil water at the plug at the bathroom basin. To pay that much you expect more.

Judy de Villiers

Very pleasant all round.

CJA Wolfaardt

Very pleasant all round.

Not fully stocked kitchen - had to phone 3 times for a kettle.

Buiten dit, was dit regtig 'n aangename kamp ervaring. Sal weer daar gaan kamp.

Lourens Marthinus Pieterse

We enjoyed the set up of the camp site although we got lost on return from the night drive and spent 35 minutes trying to find our house in the dark!!Loved seeing all the birds around the camp sight as well as the honey badger.suggest locks on the bins so that you don't awake to the rubbish all over the place each morningThe best camp for us.

Thanks guys, we could not sleep at Satara due to the distance from Nelspruit Airport , but you guys managed to get us a bed at Skukuza. Thank you very much.

Tinus Fouche

An Amazing experience. Satara is a well located camp and our experience was fantastic. Clean and well worth it

David Buch

Thanks for fencing the fridges! There were only one hotplate in the communal kitchen which was very frustrating!

P.Scholtz

We arrived at the gate at 1645 only to be told that there is not enough time to get to Satara...we are please requesting a refund as we had to pay again to stay at Orpen Restcamp. I feel that this should have been communicated to us. Orpen camp was very nice except no restaurant and we were not expecting that.

Merle Evertse

We enjoyed our stay. The evening drive was exceptional.

Sanmari Ras

Thank you Satara for an unbelievable experience. We surely will visit your camp again soon.

SONETTE LOMBARD

Terrible camp. Will not recommend it to anyone. Big disappointment after Sirheni and Talamati.

Jaco Bouwer

The animals and birds was very nice and I took some nice pictures. The rest camp was the best of the 3 we stayed at.

Johann Weiermans

We saw great game which was a wonderful. The chalet's were clean which was a great improvement on our previous visit. One problem was that the beds at Satara were extremely uncomfortable, being rock hard and the pillows were also very hard. The sheets also did not fit the beds properly

Ingrid Campbell

Sal help as daar meer warm water by badkamers is.

Stephanie Lombaard

Satara was exceptional. We were very lucky to have seen what we did, including Leopard and Honey Badger, and were fortunate enough to drive into the middle of the Buffalo and Elephant herds. The elephants at Orpen Dam were special. If you want good sightings you need to get out of the camps at first light and be returning at sun down. do your eating and shopping at midday. I prefer to drive my own car, rather than be driven by the rangers, but they are expert spotters and unless you have good eyes and drive slowly yo may miss a lot. We stayed for 3 days, I'm always sorry to leave Kruger Park.

Steven Anderson
