The lodges on this page have built a programme around walking. Short bush walks with the resident guide, half-day and full-day guided walks with specialist trails guides, multi-day wilderness trails, or dedicated walking camps. The categorisation sits on each lodge's page so you can match the level of walking to the right party.
South Luangwa, Mana Pools and the Selous (Nyerere) ecosystem are the spiritual home of the African walking safari, and many of the most experienced trails guides come from those regions. Walking is increasingly programmed in private reserves further south too. Our specialists audit the offering across every African safari region and surface only the lodges where the walking programme is genuinely built around the activity, not where a walk is offered as an alternative to a game drive.
